Re: OOC

Important for Everyone

The time has come for me to permanently step away from the Colosseum and let the 3 GMs who have been running this game for quite some time take fully over.  Ever since I started the Colosseum on Aug. 13, 2010, I wanted an arena game for 3.5 rules that included everyone, where people were treated with respect, had fun and a game that didn't disappear in a few months :). Pretty sure we succeeded on all of those goals.  So, after 4 and a half years and over 56,000 posts later (with many thousands of PM posts more that aren't counted in that tally) I feel extremely comfortable passing sole ownership of the game over to GM Titus.  He's the most elder GM of the three in terms of being a GM at the Colosseum (over a year and a half at least).  All 3 GMs are highly competent and have been here for a long time - the game makes me choose one so I went with time spent.

It's been so much fun to run and be a part of the Colosseum and I thank you all and everyone who's been a part of it - be they player, GM or both.

I'll be around for one more week to tidy up.

I'll leave you with the opening lines of the very first battle in the Colosseum - way back on Aug. 14, 2010 -

Orath vs. a Ghoul

As Orath is lifted into the arena section of the Colosseum, he feels the earth shaking from the roar of 50,000 spectators who have come to see some bloodshed. As the trap door is moved and Orath's elevator lifts him to the arena proper, the sound is almost deafening. A hideous boney looking creature rises from the floor diagonally across the way and half of the crowd gasps in horror. The creature, known as a ghoul, is chewing on the bloody remains of an armbone as it takes its position. Suddenly most of the arena floor falls away, leaving just a small section for the combatants to duel. A 10' by 10' section of water in the middle is the only thing stopping either foe from just charging straight across the sandy floor. At the sound of trumpets, the battle begins...

Re: OOC

It been a real pleasure to be part of your game since 3 years, Marcus !

I have NEVER saw a game like this on RPOL, it's amazing !!!

I'm sad now that you leave as a GM... :(

However, what about making a character and continue having fun with us without being a GM ? :D

Could be real nice, no ?

Re: OOC

Though I am a relatively recent addition, I have enjoyed the time thus far and think this is a fantastic thing you started.
I am sure it had to be a lot of work and I appreciate all that you have put into it over the years to get it to where it is.

Good luck with your future endeavors, I hope we hear from you again.

Re: OOC

Might need a full Caster. I need to figure out how he's reflecting magic. I KNOW it isn't from Occult Slayer PrC, but am unaware of any other class's Class feature that allows reflection. Add Tome of Battle awesomeness on top, and it's pretty Damn potent. Almost need a steady stream of summoned monsters to wear him down, and all too many of us don't have recourse to those spells.

Re: OOC

To piggyback off of GM Titus in the ANNOUNCEMENTS thread, I'm very open to running any of several small adventures/scenarios I have.

Granted, the focus of arena fighters on combat might not bode well for some skills, but I think it still might be interesting to try.

Anyone interested?

Id be willing to give it a go. I need something to get me back into this arena game anyways.

Antaeus. You suffered a loss yet? If not, better watch out cause I've got a spiked chain with your name on it. ;)

Re: OOC

Ok, some explanation:
I have been working (somewhat) on a program to make life a little easier. It's a bot that'll open and close fights, award XP and GP, and handle consumables. This requires for some things to be made consistent across all characters and threads. I could do all of this myself or I could conscript you folks :)

For every character you have, I'd like you to take your equipment and change it. Since you can't actually change your own sheets, just post the result in your character's PM thread. Then I can go about making the changes a little faster.

The result should be in two sections:
The first section is your main equipment. I don't care how you organize it, my program isn't going to mess with that.

The second section is the consumables. I want it to be in this format. Note that CL is caster level of the item (0 if not applicable). Names of consumables such as scrolls, wands, potions etc, should follow the format, "<Wand/Scroll/etc> of <spell name>". Capital letters don't matter, spaces don't matter, but new lines do.

For consumables used for spell components, the format should be '<item> for <spell>', such as:
Ink for Create Magic Tatoo

quote:

CGR:Consumables:
Item                              CL      count
Scroll of Bestow Curse            ,5       ,1
Scroll of See Invisibility        ,3       ,2
Scroll of Heroism                 ,3       ,1
Potion of Fly                     ,5       ,1

Once I'm sure I've got my program working reliably, I'll detail how to use it.

If you have questions, ask here or in your PM thread, as your prefer.

Re: OOC

So, couple things:
1): wow, this is more dead as I've ever seen this arena. How many people are still here?

2): we've decided to create an new Epic Bracket, with the interest of giving our current very high level characters something to do. The rules are as follows (and are subject to change, if something comes up that we didn't see):
Everyone may make one character starting at level 21. As double checking 21 levels of character is a long process to begin with, don't expect to rebuild or routinely ditch your epic character for a new one. Please think long and hard about it. I can assist with this if you wish, I enjoy making characters.
Characters started at level 5 and leveled up normally do not count against this limit of one epic character.
