Re: OOC

Well, technically, it'd be impossible to be flat-footed since there are 1-3 prep-rounds (depending upon level) and both (all) contestants know they're going to be in a fight.

Re: OOC

What shard said is true. Also it only made winning the initiative that much more of a deciding factor than it already is. I think it was a relatively popular and player driven change. I remember being opposed if only for Tel'adrel's sake (early levels he used Longstrider, followed by a maximized seeking ray sneak attack. That's how he has a round 1 KO in the records.

It is still an option to use a Special Condition to start flat footed. I don't think anyone has used that condition since we made the change.

In reply to Bogan Darkmane (msg # 9):

Yea, I think it is a good move.  One of my old characters, Dastan, was built around winning initiative and using his great speed to deal damage in the first round.

Re: OOC

Rules question for team battles...

Is speaking an action that can take place during another's turn?  For instance:  Jin recognizes that Earl has cast Celerity, and will be stunned.  Can he yell that information to his teamates?  Or must he remain silent until his turn?

Kind of a moot point since Earl already posted the stunned effect, but it bears discussion.

Re: OOC

Well, Speaking is technically a free action for up to a moderate sentence...a 1-3 word message could probably be fired off as a "free immediate" action as long as the words are simple...shouting "Stun" in response to an incoming Stun effect is probably reasonable...saying "Now this here incoming spell, Spell name, it stuns it's target something nasty...you may want to duck" is defiantly out...that said, I'd probably also limit it to one "free immediate"...if a dozen spell-casters fired off spells withing a six second period, you'd probably only be able to get off a warning about one in time (at best)

I'm guessing this means you're also not in favor of the "Peasant Rail-Gun."

Re: OOC

What were the limits for a rebuild again? what can be changed and what remains in stone?

Also if isn't much of a bother can I know what my record is? (Saying it here is fine by me)

I think your name and race stay the same. Your XP stays the same (though you can spend it as per feats etc) and you get twice your XP as gold.

From the Rules thread:

Retraining:

Each character is allowed 1 retraining during their career. This is intended to help fix characters who would otherwise be dropped by their players.  You can change everything except name and race.  Your items and gp disappear (if you want to change any of your equipment) and your new gp equals twice your current xp.

As for the record - Shard answered that.

Re: OOC

Just saw this in Thomas and Corthan's monster match:

Corthan:
Knowing that his ally, the demi-god of healing, will take care of Bob's horrible wounds, Corthan and Bob focus on the demon prince. Bob does what he knows how to do best and Corthan then brings a crap load of bad intentions down on the Prince.

Crap load of bad intentions - love that :).  If anyone else sees humorous or just good quotes from matches - post them here.

Re: OOC

Well, both wins come from the other party having to forfeit by lack of posting rather than clear and "straight" victories, that has to be a record or something.

Re: OOC

In reply to Ajah (msg # 28):

For Clerics and Necromancers.  The "Animate Dead" spell only works if you already have dead laying about.  I don't know why specifically it was banned, perhaps because the dead body could be, say, a dead Minotaur, and a lower level Necromancer can raise it to wreak OP havoc.  With the ban, the only dead bodies we have access to are the ones in the arena, and that really only works if you're in a multiple person match.

Re: OOC

A lot of arena games online put a gp rate on the HD of monster corpses. So. Strange as it sounds, corpse buying is a thing >_<

Re: OOC

Because Clerics aren't powerful enough?

Edit: incidentally, you can buy a mount...what stops you from buying a mount, killing it, and using that corpse fore Raise Dead?
