OOC:  Moot point, you won initiative.  I don't think there's a way for you to jump initiative in the prep rounds...but you can ask the other GM's.

+5/+5 from Knowledge Devotion also applies to Spell damage.

Antaeus is a Monstrous Humanoid.

How big (size, reach) is your Elemental, and what type? Geez - Air, obviously!!

Oh, and is that the actual size of the snake, or its Reach? Is this the Snake from the Monster Manual (Constrictor Snake), just Enlarged through an Enlarge Animal spell? Does its reach extend to the ceiling?

OOC: I'm sure that one or more of my actions might be negated by saved actions, but I'll post my intents, and we'll wrangle it out from there.

Antaeus drops his Rod atop the Wall of Water in C10 (does it float or sink?).
As he speeds along the top of the wall,avoiding passing directly over the
elemental, he draws his greatsword. After he has flown past the elemental, he tries to stay out of reach of the giant snake, but decides he can't do so
forever. He takes the plunge, literally, angling his path downwards and

I'll admit, I'm surprised. I thought the Snake would have a chance at an AoO against me, with a grapple attempt for its Readied action. Of course, I had something set up to counter that, but I still expected it.....

No, I used the scroll before the fight. That's why I did the CL check in the prep rounds. Spell-storing sword.

But a spell-storing sword isn't a consumable, is it?

And I was told by GM Rufius (Antaeus PM thread, message #48) that I COULD cast a spell into a spell-storing weapon from a scroll.

Correct, but the scroll is the consumable that you can't use pre-fight.  You can cast any of your own spells pre-fight, but they will count against your spells/day total.

I think the confusion is regarding the use of Spell Storing.

Spell Storing can be utilized during combat. It does not have to be pre-cast.

You may precast a spell into a spell storing weapon as casting the spell into the weapon has a duration of greater than 24 hours. The WEAPON then casts the spell per normal casting once it triggers.

The above does not contradict our rule that one may only precast spells from spells available and may not use consumables.

Well, in that case, I AM allowed to cast a spell into the spell-storing sword, like Shocking Grasp. Unless you had some sort of Resist Energy/Electricity up, it would have done just as much damage as I rolled for the Vampiric Touch. Actually, it would have done an additional dice.

With that issue out of the way, we come to the snake. Someone pointed out that the snake likely had both an AoO AND a readied action to use against me as I dove to engage you. Why didn't it try? (No, I'm not crazy. If I win this bout, I want it honestly).
