The Labyrinth

Gladiators are kept in a labyrinth of tunnels beneath the Colosseum before their battle.

Once a character is accepted, please list a visual description (race if discernable, gender, obvious weapons and armor, ect.).

Corthan is human, roughly 6 feet tall with a rail-thin body. He has piercing green eyes which strike the observer as odd considering his non-threatening physical stature.

Corthan is covered in items that would certainly glow under a detect magic spell.

Next to Corthan is a 7 foot tall nasty-looking dinosaur, named Bob. Bob is a fleshraker that has proved his worth several times over.

Re: The Labyrinth

On the rare occasion that he stands at his full height, Shard's lean frame towers above his fellow humans at an impressive six-six.  His shoulder length hair (kept tied back with a simple strap of leather) and short goatee are teal and color; combined with his purple eyes this speaks of a history of experimentation with mystical forces.  He wears a sleeveless robe left untied and with the hood usually thrown back over a simple jerkin and light pants; favoring sandals over more conventional shoes.  A club and light crossbow, both apparently unused, are in evidence as well as a quiver stuffed with bolts.

He wears a chain shirt and carries two large swords at his hip, with an array of potions at his belt. Also, of interest, is his blue skin and orcish face; this man is definitely not human.

Re: The Labyrinth

Karthus walks into the Labyrinth with a flourish of his scarlet cloak and an imperious mien.  The human has a clearly noble lineage to those whom know of such things, and those who don't still notice that he acts like it.  His 5'11, 200 lbs build fills his fine silken clothing impressively, and his dark black hair flows to his shoulders unbound.

As Karthus sits to ready his gear for his next battle, he lays out a well-cared-for, but otherwise ordinary, chain shirt to polish, leans a small quiver of javalins against the wall, and starts to sharpen an elaborate falchion.  The falchion is clearly the most valuable item he carries and is embellished with a family crest that matches the clasp of his cloak.

Though Karthus responds politely to any gladiator that approaches, those that do so rarely come away liking him.  Something about him seems to cause others to feel slightly uneasy.  Perhaps the shortness of his responses or the poorly veiled arrogance of his expression.

Rhakar the Bear is a water-orc as large, hairy, and ill-tempered as his namesake.  He wears his spiked armor in just about all public appearances, and he hauls a rough-hewn greataxe, a quiver of javelins, and a wooden tower shield into the arena for each match.

A warrior from birth, Rhakar rarely thinks of anything beyond combat, leaving every other aspect of his life, from his equipment purchases to his children, in the hands of his clan elders.

A slender, small reptile with humanoid features. The thing resembles a member of the lizardfolk, yet it is small, with smoother features and a black snout. Its skin seems to change colors subtly, making it hard to get a good look at its out line. There is no telling whether this is a male or female.

A small crossbow hangs from its back, a quiver of bolts strapped to its side. A small pouch made from the inside of some animal is knotted to a loose leather strap around its loincloth.

As the doors to the Labyrinth swing open with a bang, a small humanoid enters.  He stands 3'5 and looks to weigh under 45 pounds, but walks as though he is the tallest person in the city.  His pale white, flat face sneers at the his potential opponents, and his long arms swing as low as his knees.  A swing of his head causes his long, silver ponytail to flip over his shoulder.  As he barks a command to one of the Labyrinth serving staff, you note his wide mouth appears to contain sharp fangs rather than teeth.

When he whips off his white silk cloak to sit at a table with his feet up on the neighboring chair, you note he wears leather armor and carries both a heavy wooden shield and a crossbow.  When the food arrives (a rib-eye steak cooked rare) he pulls a pair of wicked looking daggers out to eat with, rather than using the provided utensils.

In through the usual doors stepped a heavily armored figure. Not just armored...Made of armor. A unlikely cross between man and machine. Dust covered most of the armor, but the plates that were somewhat clean had a solid green color on them. Most disturbing were his eyes, ruby gems that glowed with an inner core that suggests intelligent thought.

A sword pommel shows over his shoulder, just a few inches longer than a usual longsword. A bow is also slung over his shoulder with his pack. A steel shield is present too, an unremarkable piece of battered armor. His only other possession the small weathered backpack he carries. He speaks with a gravelly tone, one of gears and magic meshing together. "Where do I sign up to start killing?"

She wears heavy armor, carries a spear, and bears the holy symbol of some obscure evil god around her neck.

Raja is a beautiful, and tall, human like creature with long, golden feathery wings and a very supple and lithe body that glows with an inner power that makes it hard to look directly at her. She has vibrant blue cyan colored eyes, and well toned golden skin. Raja has beautiful long honey blond hair that falls down just above her hips. She is wearing a blue bustier that seems a few sizes to small, smashing her well formed breasts together and pushing them upward. A fancy white cloak that is fixed with a blue gem hangs from the young angels shoulders. Her pants are white with blue lacing up the sides that reveals a provocative amount of skin. Her boots complete her outfit following suit with her pants, white with blue lacing.

When in armor Raja favors a glistening spiked breast plate a set of greaves and a helmet.

Raja's favored weapon and instrument of death is a well balanced great sword which she uses with deadly precision. Her other visible weapons include a pair of spiked gauntlets, and a quiver stuffed full of javelins on her back.

At first glance she looks like an elf, with her delicate facial features and tall and thin physique, but her eyes have an otherworldly glow to them. In physical combat, she favors the axe and shield, but she usually relies on her mastery of various forms of magic to maximize her advantage over her opponent. On her wrist is a silver bracelet embedded with a large sapphire and the symbol of Mystra etched onto its surface, and a finely carved longbow is slung across her back. Strapped across her back is also a beautifully crafted ranseur, its glistening three pronged blade in the shape of a stylized cross.

"Do not judge them - you have not had their life."

As the Labyrinth doors open, a smallish minotaur is silhouetted by the bright sunlight outside.  Only slightly larger than an man, were it not for the great horns on his head, and then unmistakable sound of hooves as he walks, one wouldn't know him from any other creature.
With the closing of the outer doors, you can see that this beast is dressed in a patchwork outfit made of the hides and furs of many creatures.  Some even appear to be woven into and around his chain shirt.  At his sides, are an assortment of axes of many different sizes.
He sniffs and snorts as he passes you, likely either trying to memorize your scent, or unnerve you.  He slowly and purposefully makes his way to an unoccupied piece of wall, where he proceeds to study everyone from afar.

Re: The Labyrinth

As the newest combatant enters the Labyrinth, he calls out, "Byron!  Byron!  I know you're in here somewhere!  I've got it on good authority that you've come here to prove yourself, so get your stumpy legs out here and start introducing me.  Oh, and that lich came back...with vampires.  Everyone else was killed, and one of the most beautiful women I've ever met sucked most of the life out of me, but I managed to get away.  So...now I'm here to fight...I guess."
His voice carries over the ever present background sounds of the Labyrinth and is easily heard by everyone.  As heads turn to look at the loud new arrival, you can see that it seems to be nothing more than a fine looking man in fine looking clothes.  Beneath his good traveling clothes, one can see the glint of a mithril shirt.  He has a shortbow and quiver slung over his shoulders and a whip coiled at his side with what appears to be a small blade attached to the end of it.
Not seeing his supposed acquaintance appear, he walks to the center of the largest open area he can find and, with a flourish, introduces himself, "Greetings, my fair combatants.  I am Andrew Fosher, former Herald of the, now deceased, great Elven Lord Aurellian.  I have traveled many worlds on his behalf and, now, have come to essentially re-start my life here, with you folk, and see where this new journey takes me."
As he is looking everyone over, he spies the door to the tavern, "Ah, a tavern.  I bet Byron is in there.  Good day, all.  Until we meet on the field of battle!"

The man takes a large mallet and strikes a small furnace next to him which explodes in a thick smoke and sends Zindor flying and then crashing into a wall. When the smoke clears, the merchant and his stand are gone and Zindor stands, now much taller and more muscular and flexes a few times. Then with a chuckle he walks over to Jensen, the quatermaster, and sets his chain and a scroll on the table. I'll be needing a masterwork Greatsword. Zachariel is a handsome, and tall, human like creature with long, golden/white feathery wings and a very muscular body that glows with an inner power that makes it hard to look directly at him. He has troubling green colored eyes and a well toned golden skin. Zach has beautiful messy short blond hair with a perfectly cut beard. He is wearing a tall white cloak with large fluffy blue pants. His boots complete his outfit following suit with her pants, white with blue lacing.

Zachariel wears a shinny set of chain shirt with no helmet along with a big Kord's silver holy symbol as a necklace.

He favored a well balanced great sword that he seems to hold with no problem. His other visible weapons include an other great sword, a heavy steel shield, a morningstar and a quiver stuffed full of javelins on his back.

He walks in front of everyone and says:

" If anyone is ready to face his fate, come see me and I'll show you ! "

An average sized, well built human strolls into the labyrinth, a bow on his back and a sadistic smile on his pale, smooth face. Re: The Labyrinth

A portal opens upon the wall from a plane none would recognize. After just a second, a very large ball of black fabric shoots out at high speed and crashes into the opposite wall. Quickly following the ball is a scythe, which sticks into the wall. It has markings as though it were heavily enchanted, but there is no evidence of any remaining power. The fabric moves around a bit before standing into humanoid posture, about 5'10" in height. It grabs the scythe from the wall and rushes the portal, which closes with the odd sounds of a heavy, solid gate, just before the figure slams into the wall. It shouts some high-level spell, which produces no effect. Then again, and a third time with a different spell. The figure removes its hood, revealing a young man in his early twenties. Pale skin, straight black hair (anime-styled, but dirty), and wolf-blue eyes. He seems rather furious and he sifts through his over-sized robes and clothing. He suddenly spins and slams his weapon where the portal was before, but it just bounces off, and he falls to the ground quietly. It is not until now that he notices everyone else standing around, all of the arena signs, ranking boards, tournament brackets, and other arena decor. He stands and tries to hide his anger, which does not work almost at all. He speaks quietly, but at this point enough people are paying attention to what is going on to hear him anyway: "Where am I, and how do I get out?"

Belted at his waste is five throwing axes, each clipped on a harness in a style that means they can be quickly and easily removed. Finally, slung over his Greatsword his a longbow, with a small quiver of arows.

Adraxi is dressed in leather padded armour, functional over fashion. His leather jacket is reinforced in several places, shoulders, chest and lower torso. His trousers are made from tough leather. A tall gray looking elf with white/blond hair calmly enters the Labyrinth.

Wearing a luxurious black cape with a large gray collar, he begins to look at
everyone with snob eyes over his strange little red glasses.

Having only a single wand at his belt, he makes a long smile that makes him seems very confident.

EDIT: He seems to be paler than he was, strong perfum surround him.

Ahri stands at just under 4' (which isn't too bad for a Gnome). Despite his natural predisposition to small stature, he seems equipped as a melee combatant. A heavy steel shield rests against his back clanking occasionally against his chain shirt. Both a rapier and kukri rest at his hip. A small sachel-bag hugs tightly from his shoulder to his opposing side.

Nivian, a veteran gladiator, arrives once again in the Colosseum, entering slowly and willfully.  He has the smell of the Astral Sea on him, and has traded his youth for a more wizened outlook on the universe.  Sporting a very short, trimmed beard, graying temples, and the illustrious, hooded robes of the Priests of Nerull, Nivian makes his way to the pub to sit quietly and analyze the new and familiar faces alike.

In his eyes you can see a colder, more calculating evil than he brandished in the past, and there was something else - something that a cleric of Nerull would be expected to have - yes, this Nivian has seen death, and he has returned to spread it's treachery and wonder.

Under his indigo robes, you can make out a darkly colored, spiked breastplate, perhaps made of mithral.  His scythe is lost, instead he wields a glowing crossbow with a large bayonet.

The figure meandering into the labyrinth, or if one were less inclined to use such words as meandering, shambling is an equally apt descriptor, was certainly a sight to see. His flesh was practically rotting off of his muscle and bones, seemingly held together by the very clothes on his back, or more accurately dark necromantic forces beyond the comprehension of most silly mortals, and yet his movements were very human, such as a slight swagger to his plodding steps, and his incessant winking at anything remotely feminine. Or at least, he seems to be winking. It's rather difficult to tell seeing as his eyelids appear to have been left outside the door. As he wanders through the increasingly disturbed gladiators, he appears to shout something, though his words are slightly obscured by the horrible rasping noise he makes as he forces air through his now significantly less airtight throat.
