Underground: Michael follows the tunnel for several yards, it leads to a dead end with a ladder going up.  Climbing the ladder leads to trap door, which he opens easily.  Michael now finds himself in what appears to be a gymnasium locker room.

And Mike finds himself in a...gym locker room? Well, this could be the High School (Which has already been blown to kingdom come once...) or the College. He'd find proof of either shortly...most lockerrooms had the team name emblazoned somewhere.

From there, he needs to get further exploring done.

In the locker room:

Michael finds the exit door to the locker room which takes him to the gymnasium. A quick survey of the Razorback themed banners on the walls indicate this is the Sunnydale High gymnasium.  Apparently someone built a secret tunnel entrance when the school was rebuilt.

He doesn't have long to contemplate this, as he turns his head and sees what appears to be a girl lying in the middle of the gym floor.  A trail of blood leads from the girl to the gym entrance.  Looks like she was losing a lot of blood before finally making it here and collapsing.

Michael's not much of a doctor, but if the girl still lives, he'll make an effort to keep her that way.

In the gym:

Michael rolls the girl over, her wounds look very serious.  There is a vampire bite on her neck, and several other wounds that indicate a severe beating and slashing attack. It's remarkable she's even still alive.

She looks up at Michael; "Get out, run before they find you. Everybody but me is dead, plenty of them left.  You can't stop them."

"I'm not here to stop them. I'm here to make sure you see tommorrow."

Mike does his best to bandage the wounds.

In the gym:

"Too late.  You've got to run. The amulet got most of them......but.......uuuuhhhhhhhh........" And then the girl dies as Michael tries to help her.  A quick check of her life signs indicates she is definitely dead.


At the front entrance: 

Merry has made her way into the school with no trouble.  Front doors weren't even locked.  She notices the lights are out despite the fact any light switches they find are in ON postion.  They can still see well enough in this part of the building due to the lights coming from the windows.

Still no sign of life, human or otherwise.

Mike curses, not for the first time, his lack of medical knowledge. Then again, medical knowledge was never all that useful for himself. Just for others when they need it.

Meanwhile, he'll follow the girl's blood trail back to the likely site of her wounding.

Somewhere else in Sunnydale:

High camera shot over a field.  Come in closer.  You see two graves.  Two recently dug unmarked graves.

They are both silent and unmoving.

Then.......

A hand emerges from one of the graves!

From the Gym: Michael begins following the blood trail from the gym it goes on for quite a bit down the hallway.  It finally finds the point of origin down the hallway, then looks up to see a girl.


Down the hallway:Merry heads down the hallway, still seeing nothing out of the ordinary until she sees a puddle of blood that leaves a trail down the other end of the hallway.  And a guy standing over it.

Our two heroes have now met.

"What on earth are you  doing here? This is a war zone, and that's putting it nicely."

She seemed...mostly normal. And mostly normal people shouldn't be here unless they're far, far more then meets the eye.

First one hand, then two, then a head, then an upper body.  The occupant of this grave reaches forward, clawing at the ground, and after some after manages to pulls herself out of the grave.

She stands up, covered in a lot of dirt.  You can tell, she's a teenaged girl with reddish brown hair, wearing a blue long sleeve top and black pants despite the dirt clinging to her.

She looks at her surroundings, she's very confused.  She doesn't say a word.

Then she takes one, then two steps forward, very slowly, like she's trying to remember how to walk.

At Sunndyale High:

Before anyone can say another word, you hear footsteps and growling noises coming closer.  Then a figure, no two appear from the direction Merry came from.

Both are vampires, but not just any kind of vampire.  Pale gray skin, bald, pointy ears, like Nosferatu except even more scary. They are of the legendary Turok Han variety.


OCC: Oh look Turok Hans.Decide if you want to fight or run.  If you want to fight, post your move in the combat thread.  If you want to run, make a dexterity doubled roll.  You can't go to the front entrance since the Turok Hans are blocking that way.

Meanwhile, across town:

The girl slowly brushes off some of the dirt from her chest, then her hair, and then her pants.  She slowly exits the field, looking around in a daze, but keeps walking.

Several minutes later she passes by a row of houses.  She stops at one.  It somehow looks familiar.  She walks closer.

The number is 1630.

Mike doesn't even hesitate for a minute. Before he runs forward and moves to deck the Turok Han in the lead! It's an impressive blow that really shows his strength and skill as his fist smashes into the face of the vampire. It's like what they are, or what they represent, don't bother him at all. He then delivers a backfist at Turok Han #2, cracking the creature in the jaw, smoothly moving from target to target. It's clear he's a competent warrior, at least...he isn't leaving himself open, but he did seem far more focused on hitting the enemy then defending himself.

Merry couldn't help jumping in surprise when the Turok-Han made its appearance, but she smoothly glided behind Mike and watched him attack them.

The first Turok-Han growled now ready to settle up with Michael as he swung a hammering fist that Michael deftly managed to dodge out of the way.

The second vamp kept his eye on Merry while she was behind Mike.  Looks like he wants a piece of her.

OCC: That's it for that round.  Please post attacks and defenses for the next round in the combat thread.

Across town:

The girl makes her way along the sidewalk of the house that looks familiar to her.  She grasps the doorknob, it turns easily as the door is unlocked.  She steps into the living room.

Lots of sleeping bags and cots are present.  Either somebody was housing an army or had one bloody heck of a slumber party.

Suddenly she feels a very unpleasant sensation in her hair.  She runs both hands through her hair, a worm falls out.  She immediately freaks out, letting out an inhumanely loud shriek that would wakes all the neighbors.  If any were left.  She runs around the room in circles, wildy running her fingers through her hair.  Two more worms fall out.  No there's three.  The third one is now crawling on her hand.  She manically tries to flick it off, striking a vase in the process knocking it to the floor.  But not across the room.  Apparently the girl does not possess supernatural stength. She finally gets the worm of her hand.  She manically brushes her hands in her hair for another minute, no more worms fall out.  Finally satisfied, she sits down on the couch and exhales.

Mike, mobile warrior that he was, continued his game of taking on two opponents at once. But this time, he stumbled over an ill placed rock, and his attacks were not nearly so effective as he swung his fist at the dodging first vampire.
Still, he recovers in time for the creature's returning punch.

Merry sneered at the Turok-Han as it stared at her and drew her saber.  She stepped forward and snapped off a quick salute.  "Come on then, you filthy mongrel!  Have at it!"  She snapped off a quick, sharp slash that sliced through the creatures chest, then whirled her blade around in a complex defensive pattern.


OCC: On to the next round.  No damage to the heroes this time.

Mike may have dodged the last attack, but it left him a little off balance. Nonetheless, he attempted to pummel the Turok Han in front of him.
But this time the creature was ready for him, evading Michael's onslaught, then smashes his fist into Mike's jaw.   The vampire seems to be smiling at Mike.  If Turok-Han's could talk, this one would be saying "Ha Ha!  Like that one punk? I've got plenty more for you!!"


Merry steps back out of the way for a moment, trying not to get hit as she manages to avoid the other Turok-Han lunging at her.

OCC: Two Turok-Hans still left.  One just hit Mike.

Perhaps getting punched brought his mind back to the battle, for he only smiles.

"That one was free."

Mike moved to finish both vampires, he aimed his stake precisely at the first critter's heart.  The stake made a crunching sound as it connected with the heart and the monster exploded into dust.

And then he finshes off the other one in the same fashion. Another Turok-Han explodes to dust.  The hallway is now quiet with only our two heroes left.


OCC: This fight is over.  Both ubervamps have been slain.  Please resume posting in the episode  thread.

The girl sat on the couch for a few minutes before cautiously making her way up the stairs.  She reached the bathroom first.

And then she stood in front of the mirror and saw her reflection for the first time since crawling out of the grave.  She backed away in shock at first.  Then she timidly looked in the mirror again.  Who was she?

"Annabelle."

That was enought pondering about that for now.  She realized she was dirty.  Very dirty.  She slowly removed her clothes then stepped in the shower.

"We don't have a lot of time to waste. We should probably hurry along. You stay with me."

And Mike continues forward.

Merry commented out loud to herself, shameless as always.  "Cute enough, and I do so enjoy a straightforward man, but you'd think he'd at least introduce himself...?"  Clucking her tongue at Michael's poor manners, Merry kept her saber out as she trolled through the hall, barely resisting the urge to whistle a jaunty tune just in case there were more Turok-Han around.

The duo takes a few steps down the hall when they see yet another Turok-Han several yards away.  Just one this time.

The creature does not rush to attack them, but instead makes a left turn and takes off running down another hallway.  You catch up enough to see him run down the other hall, then enter a room with double doors, which appears to be the school auditorium.

Mike gives chase.

"I'm Mike. No time to talk. That idiot's probably gone for reinforcements."

And with no further comment then that, he's off to the races. At a very high rate of speed!

Michael moves like a blur down the hallway, following the path of the fleeing Turok-Han that leads him through the double doors which indeed turns out to be the school auditorium.

The sight that greets him, well............it's a good thing he doesn't breathe, otherwise the sight would suck the air from his lungs.

Turok-Hans.  A lot of them.  Fifty?  Sixty?  More?!

They like it here because the auditorium has no windows.  They watch as one of their number barrels in through the doorway and down the aisle.

Then they look up at what followed.

Fifty plus Turok-Hans all turn to face Michael.
