Re: Episode 1-6

Emilia shrugged, corrupt police... yea that sounded like America, "Well the way I came in seemed clear enough, if i can get fuel I'll lead you guys out of here." She said with a shrug, "I can't really leave this car here, I put it on daddy's credit card and if he got the bill for a car I would get such a rollocking." She said shaking her head.

She smiled at the two guys, "One of you boys fancy hopping in and helping me to get to a petrol station?" She asked giving her puppy dog eyes along with her sweetest smile, this always worked.

Re: Episode 1-6

Anticipating the look of disappointment on the girl's face, Annabelle steps out of the back of the police car, then climbs into the passenger side of the rental car.

"Sorry, but I'm afraid our man driving is the only one of us who can drive, without him we'd be stranded here." Annabelle leans out the window and shouts at Graham.  "Just follow us, I'm going to guide her to the petrol station we were at earlier, then we'll take it from there."

She leans back in, the point toward the roadway.  "Just take a right out here. And you'd best stick to driving on the wrong side of the road like they do over here.  With our luck, another crazy cop will show up and pull us over.  And then try to shoot us for being on drugs."

Re: Episode 1-6

Once she pulled the car away following Annabelle's instructions she turned to look at the young girl.

"In all honesty sweety, I can't drive either." She said grinding the car into neutral before almost mounting the curb the rev's shot up before she jammed it back into drive. "But it seems simple enough." She shrugged, "Seems easy enough, at least American cars you don't need to move that gear stick... although i seem to forget."

"So whats your story hon? How did you end up in this hole... trust me I've been to Slough and this place is worse... just" She asked

"Alright, just turn up here next, shouldn't be too far now."Annabelle said giving directions while pondering how to answer the girl's question.

Might as well take the plunge and hope she doesn't faint dead awayAnnabelle thought to herself.  "Well you see, I'm a Slayer in training.  A Vampire Slayer in training to be precise.  Do you know what a Vampire Slayer is and why there would be a need for one?"

"Just what we didn't need.  Civilians! They always turn up at the worst times," Graham mutters while maneuvering the police car behind the girl's rental.  "Geez, no wonder she wanted someone else to drive, she can barely keep her car off the sidewalk," Graham says out loud, after watching her almost hit a parked car, a mail box and a potted plant in the middle of someone's yard.

Slowing down to give the girl a wider berth, Graham switches off the police lights and glances at Buffy.  "So Buffy, how have you been? I see Sunnydale has changed a little since I was last in town."

In reply to Annabelle Berkshire (msg # 39):

"Vampire Slayer in training? Is that a cross between Vampire Weekend and slayer the bands? Sweety your making very little sense." She cast her eyes off the road to look over Annabelle for a second (almost taking out a parking meter) "Well you've got the grunge look going for you." She shrugged.

She reached back behind the passenger dragging the car across the road again, before she pulled out her handbag, "Hun in there you'll find some wet wipes and some make-up, clean yourself up, just because this place looks like a hell hole doesn't mean we have to." She smiled sweetly as she corrected the car, fortunately she was only traveling at a low speed.

"These are not my clothes!  I had to borrow them!"she said a bit defensively as grabbed the wet wipes from Emilia's purse.

"I'll explain what a Slayer is  in detail once we get to our destination.  Make a left here."she said looking in the mirror as she cleaned up her face.

"So, I'm Annabelle Bershire.  And you are ? I'd be surprised if our families didn't have at least a passing familiarity with one another. Your accent clearly marks your upper class standing. Or else you're doing a fine impression."

Re: Episode 1-6

The conversation is interrupted as both cars arrive at the fuel station.  There is a roof over the pumps, so Mike can stretch his legs without having to worry about the sun.  This is a combination fuel station/convenience store (with the pump roof extending to the building so Mike can enter without sunlight hitting him)if anyone wants to stock up on food now that the supplies on the bus have been confiscated.  There are rest rooms inside the store as well as a windowless back room with a cot to sleep on.

Emilia looked around the fuel station, "Well this sucks." She got out of the car and looked at the pump and the car, "Hmm I swear I saw Geoffry do this once," She said looking at the pump, she managed to get the fuel cap off finally avoiding breaking her nails, "So Annabelle, where are you from? She managed to finally get the pump working.

Re: Episode 1-6

Annabelle watched Emilia finally get the fuel pump working.  She made no effort to help, she would if she had any idea what to do, but fuel pumps were not in her realm of expertise.  "I'm from London.  I went to school at Queen Anne's.  At least until a couple of years ago, then I was identified as a potential Slayer and went off to train under my watcher. "

She sighed loudly as she finished that sentence.  "You have no idea what a watcher is either do you?  I guess I'll have to start from the beginning."

Emilia looked over at Annabelle, "Well it's a small world, I was at Queen Anne's for a few years before my daddy got me a tutor, lets just say I wasn't doing that well." She said shrugging "Not sure what a watcher is, still not sure on what a slayer is but I'm sure you'll tell me soon."

(OCC: hey don't i get the whole spiel one with the strength and skill etc...)

She pulled the pump out hooked it back up, "Fancy scrumping?" She asked pointing at the shop.

Re: Episode 1-6

Annabelle took a deep breath. Into each generation a Slayer is born, one girl in all the world, a chosen one, one born with the strength and skill to hunt the vampires." She knew that speech, her watcher quoted it to her more than once.

She paused, raised her eyebrows, and stared at nothing in particular for a second.  "Now that I think about it, that description is inaccurate.  A Slayer isn't born with the strength to to hunt the vampires, she gets it when she's a teenager.  And she certainly isn't  born with the skills, she gets them through long arduous hours of training with her watcher.  Whoever wrote that speech didn't think it through."

She looks in the direction of the shop.  "Yes, let's do some scrumping shall we?  Door is unlocked, we were here earlier."

Scrumping?  What's that. Still she made sure that Mike was ok before inspecting more of the store itself. The Buffenator was trying to make sense of all this.

Re: Episode 1-6

Seeing no sense not to top off the police car as well, Graham pulled up to the other pump, found the gas tank on the other side of the car.  Signing, he got back in the car, reversed and flipped the car around so the tank was facing the pump, then got out and started pumping gas.  Following his military training, he popped the hood and checked the oil gauge, then did the same for the girl's rental car.  Noticing all the scratches on it, he shook his head. "Sheesh, someone needed some lessons."

Seeing that everyone else was in the store, Graham opened the passenger door of the cruiser, and began looking around for any paperwork to indicate where the car came from.  Last he had seen, the town was empty and no one had answered his calls at the police station when he was looking for his parents.

Emilia, walked into the petrol station, making her way immediately to the cosmetics, she looked at the brands... "Ugh god!, I can't believe they sell this she said picking up a bright fluorescent pink lipstick," She stuffed a few other cosmetics into a bag and grabbed a few drinks and snacks.

"I'm starting to see why Americans are so fat,"She said looking over the rows after rows of junk food. "Don't suppose anyone's seen any fruit still edible?" She asked looking at the melted ice cream. She moved over to the register... someone had already looted it unfortunately she search behind the register for anything of importance. However was quite distracted by the array of various confectionery.

11:30, Today: Emilia Grey rolled 4 using 1d10+3. Perception Search roll. If there was an elephant under the counter she wouldn't see it.

Outside at the pumps:

Graham finds some standard documents in the glove box of the police car. Everything is in order, looking at these papers indicates this is a normal Sunnydale police car.  Either somebody is an expert at forging law enforcement documents, or something is really wrong in Sunnydale.

Inside the store:

Emilia fails to find anything of importance in the vicinity of the register, although the distracting confectionaries are impairing her perception.

Annabelle walks over to the register to join Emilia.  "Don't even think about looking for any proper British tea here. You'd have better luck getting water from a stone."

She then crosses her arms in front of her chest.  "Well now, I've told you all about me.  It's your turn.  Your name would be a good place to start."

"Grey, Emilia Grey," She said with a smile, "Well it's all slightly weird about how I got here, needless to say now i've seen this place i"ll probably sleep better,"

She looked around "Started with a book, and then a weird little creature then nightmares telling me to come here, so borrowed some money from daddy and got a flight out."

She looked at Annabelle "I know how it sounds, a bit dodally, but that's the truth."

Re: Episode 1-6

Annabelle looks astonished at Emilia's story for about a second.  "Well, I'm pleased to meet you Emilia. And I have heard stranger stories.  Seems like you're not as new to the world of the supernatural as I thought.  So, a nightmare told you to come here? Is that the first time you've had that experience?"Annabelle said, suddenly intrigued.  This girl may be able to predict the future.

As she waited for Emilia's answer, she began looking around the store and found the back room.  "There's  a back room here with no windows.  Perhaps Michael should make use of it, stretch himself out without fear of being burned to a cinder."

Emilia laughed, "One week ago I thought it was all spotty freaks who played games in darkened bedrooms, now I appear to be living the life of supernatural." She said trying on some of the lipstick by the counter checking herself in the mirror she quickly rubbed it off and applied a red one.

"First time thats happened?" She paused "Well kind of I had the same dream over and over until I booked my flight out here. Ironically the first good nights kip I got was on the flight here."

She looked to the car "What's wrong with Michael has he got some sort of Polymorphos light eruption condition or something?" She asked

Re: Episode 1-6

"Well now, that is intriguing.  Sounds like you may be manifesting the power to have visions of the future.  But to what extent may be too early to say. There are multiple variations of this ability.  Some visions are very vague and hard to decipher.

She glanced out in the direction of the police car after hearing Emilia's question regarding Michael. "I'm certain you've guessed by now that vampires are real, since there is a Slayer to wage battle against them.  Vampires are not lonely, tormented creatures as they are portrayed in countless pieces of fiction. They are monsters who are mostly likely going to eat you or perhaps turn you into a vampire. What makes them evil is they have no soul, which exits the body when a person becomes a vampire. But there are rare exceptions.  Some vampires have souls and are not evil.  Michael is such a vampire and as such the direct rays of the sun are lethal to him.Annabelle said finishing her monologue in one breath, hoping Emilia will take the news calmly.

Re: Episode 1-6

Meanwhile, out by the pumps:

Graham has is looking at the paperwork in the police car glovebox, Michael is still in the backseat.

A few yards away, a manhole cover slides open.  One by one they climb out, four vampires, not of the Turok-Han variety just regular vampires, safe from the sun since the manhole cover they exited is also under the the outdoor roof covering the gas pumps.

One immediately spots the police and Graham sitting in the front seat.  "Look guys!  Blood!" All four vamps charge towards the police car.

To be continued.
