Episode 1-7

Meanwhile, out by the pumps:

Graham has is looking at the paperwork in the police car glovebox, Michael is still in the backseat.

A few yards away, a manhole cover slides open.  One by one they climb out, four vampires, not of the Turok-Han variety just regular vampires, safe from the sun since the manhole cover they exited is also under the the outdoor roof covering the gas pumps. They all appear to be in their late teens to early twenties when sired, they are wearing modern clothes, looks like they could have been members of a street gang.

One immediately spots the police and Graham sitting in the front seat.  "Look guys!  Blood!".  All four vamps charge toward the police car.

OCC: Combat time.  Only Mike and Graham may post in the first round, the girls are unaware of the fight since they are in the store.  They will hear the noise and join in on the second round, but for now it's two against four.

Re: Episode 1-7

Mike darted out of the car, and proceeded to deal with his soul challenged brethren.

His tactics were simple here...as he grabs the first vampire, then tosses him flying out into daylight. The sun's rays will do the rest. The vampire crashes to the pavement and instantly burst into flame.

Then he prepares to defend himself vs. counterattacks. But the vampire coming at him launches a flawless high kick that smashes into Mike's jaw."Let's see you try that on me tough guy!"

Seeing Michael's technique, Graham jumped out of the car to emulate it.  Darting toward the one closest to the gas station door, he thinks back to his unarmed combat training classes. Taking a breath, he centers himself while waiting for the vamp to get in range, then he wraps his arms around the monster and tries to use its momentum to spin and throw it out into the sun. But Graham's grab attack was flawless, his throw move lacked the necessary momentum.  The vampire still in his amrs, tried to punch Graham, but failed.

But the remaining vamp had better luck, as Graham was now open to attack, he landed a good punch on Graham in the jaw.  "You guys aren't so wimpy after all, you might last two minutes against us."

Meanwhile inside the store, all three girls run to the window to see what all the ruckus is about.  They see Graham and Mike battling three vamps and one burning in the sun.

OCC: Mike takes 14 points of damage, Graham takes 9 points (Yes, I see you both have NT, or it would be 18 and 13). Graham currently has two vamps on him, but one is still grappled. Mike has one vamp on him, last one is burning in the sun.  Good guys have initiative.  The girls may now join the fight. Buffy and Annabelle may attack at will, Emilia need to make a fear test with a -1 penalty since she's never seen a vampire before.

Re: Episode 1-7

Mike took a solid hit from vampire #2, who foolishly dared him to 'try that on me."

"Okay. If you insist."

And he failed to grab Vamp #2 who nimbly ducked out of the way thus derailing his plan, to send him flying into the sun with his roasting on an open flame brother vampire. "You're not going to get rid of me that easy bub." the vampire said as he aims and misses a punch to Mike's chest.

A few yards away, the first vamp slowly gets to his feet, still on fire under the rays of the sun, and screaming so loudly you could probably hearing him ten blocks away.

"Oh my God!  They're are....." Annabelle never finished the sentence as she dodged out of the way of a falling magazine rack that Emilia knocked over in her panic frenzy.

"Emilia wait!  You shouldn't........ Oh crumbs!" Annabelle takes off running after Emilia, intending to grab her before she gets too far. The others can take care of the vamps, she barely glanced at the flaming vamp in the street as she started her pursuit. As dangerous as things were here, they would be a lot more dangerous if Emilia ran into a pack of demons or some other monster not impaired by the rays of the sun.

The girls race several yards before Annabelle manages to wrap her arms around Emilia's waist, stopping her panic dash.

Graham then finishes what he started by tossing the vamp in his grip out into the sun, he burst into flame in mid air and crashes into the one who just got up, knocking him back down. A pile of burning in vamps is building.

Meanwhile Buffy tried to dash for the door and join the fight, but didn't make it due to Emilia and Annabelle  blocking the doorway with their quick exits.

OCC:Next round, no damage this time. I covered Graham's move  to keep things rolling. Two vamps left standing in the shade one on Mike, one on Graham.  Other two burning in the sun. Heroes have initiative. Emilia and Annabelle can just talk among themselve if they want, they are now several yards away from the fight area

"Emilia, STOP!!"Annabelle shouted at the hysterical girl as she grabbed her by the waist.

"You can't be running around in Sunnydale by yourself, some monster may be waiting around the corner to kill you. Everything will be alright. My friends are taking care of the vampires right now."she said, trying her best to remember what her watcher told her to calm her down the first time she saw a vampire.

I'm drawing a blank, perhaps we should just wait here in the sun until the vampires are dusted.she thought to herself.

"Get off me, let me go we've got to get out of here! Those things!" She squealed, under Annabelle and tried to break free,

Emilia Grey rolled 10 using 1d10+2. Break free .

She struggled against Annabelle wanting to get away, monsters in town were fine it was the beasts here that were freaking her out, they were worse that the little demon she had faced at home, all that had been was an evil foot high beast these were humans with warped and twisted faces who apparently would need SPF 1000 if they ever decided to go to Porta Beluse, Emilia didn't know why she thought of the small village that her family used to sail to on holiday, only the fact that she would rather be there than here.

Re: Episode 1-7

Despite Emilia's struggles, Annabelle's grip holds keeping the terrified girl from running any further.

"Nimble. But how long can you dodge me, I wonder?"

Once again, he tries to grab the dodgy critter. And once again, if he lays hands on him, he'll airmail him right into the burning sunlight. This time Mike succeeds as the vampire lands on the pavement and bursts into flame next to his two pals.  No, one pal, as the first vamp withers into a pile of ashes.

Having finally thrown the one into the sun, Graham pulls his combat knife and slams it in the vicinity of the heart of his second living impaired opponent.  "Just trying to get to the heart of the matter," he says while pulling his blade out of the vamp and falling back into a knife fighter's defensive crouch. The vamp takes a swing at Graham and misses.

He quickly looks around at what is happening to his undead buddies and guesses a retreat may be in order.  The lone vampire not burning in the sun takes off running towards the manhole in the shade that the foursome originally came from.

OCC: Back to the combat thread, one vamp left not burning now trying to escape.

Re: Episode 1-7

Buffy got an attempt to bypass the door only to see the remaining vampire heading towards the manhole cover. She attempts to go after the last one. "Where'd you think you are going fang face!?"

The vampire is an easy target since he wasn't paying attention to anything but running for the manhole, her punches easily connect.

Mike, in turn, races after the guy running...he has very quick reflexes, after all, and and grabs him.

"You need a tan, I think."

And he attempts to give him one as he hurls the vampire into the sun. This one bursts into flame and is a pile of ash before he hits the ground since Buffy had already softened him up.

The other two remaining vampires turn to ash a few seconds later.  Nothing left but four piles of ash.

And a few yards away from that, Annabelle is holding Emilia by the waist as she screams like a banshee.

OCC: And this fight is over.  All vamps destroyed by major sunburn.

Annabelle managed to turn Emilia in the direction of the vampire remains.

"Look Emila!  We're safe now.  The vampires are all destroyed.  See those burning piles of ash?  That's all that's left of them.  You don't even have to look at the bodies.

Annabelle tightened her grip, last thing she needed was Emilia getting loose.  Her panic running speed was impressive to say the least.

"You see vampires turn to dust or ash once they are destroyed. That's why a vampire corpse has never been recovered because there simply aren't any. It does make it easier on the Slayer though. I once asked my watcher if the Slayer was expected to clean up the vampire bodies herself or does her servants do it, and that's how I discovered that fact.

Graham walked over to Emilia.  "You now have a choice to make, Emilia." He crouches down to get level with her face, but far away and not offering her any support.  "That choice can be easy or hard.  It all depends on you, Emilia.  The easy way, is to continue to sit there and cry about how this is not happening. How this is not reality." Graham pauses and turns behind himself to view the smoking remains of the four former vampires. "How those were just a figment of your imagination and how you are hallucinating from gas fumes trapped in the station."

He pauses to look back at her.  "Or you can decide to do this the hard way. To accept that the ashes of what you called reality are also burning over there with what used to be 4 vampires. Reach inside to find the strength within yourself to stop crying and stand on your own.  To stand up and face the reality that there are things that do more than 'go bump' in the night."

He leans forward to just a few inches from her face. "I won't lie to you, Emilia.  That is the harder choice. It is a lot scary and darker reality. But sometimes, making that hard choice makes a difference.  The difference between the vampires, and demons and other night bumping things being the ones lying on the ground dead." He pauses to look over his shoulder at the smoky remains. "Or you and everyone you care about being the ones lying on the ground, dead."

Graham turns back to look her in the eye. "So what choice will you make, Jennifer? Easy or hard, it is up to you." He stands back up to look at her clutching Annabelle, tears leaving tracks in the dirt and ash on her face.  "But make it quick because we have already made our choice and don't have time to take care of a defenseless civilian."

With that, he turns around and walks back towards the vehicles to finish filling up the cars. As he reaches the other side of the police cruiser, he bends down to take the hose out of the tank, but pauses, as pain flares up his side. Leaving his right hand on the handle, he uses his left to lift his shirt up to expose the bruises from his fight with the vampires the last few days.  He takes a deep breath, lets the shirt shirt fall back over the purpling skin, hardens his features and pulls the handle out of the tank and puts it back on the pump.

She continues slowly guide Emilia back towards their car.  "Don't let Graham get to you.  He's an insufferable bore, but he does have his uses.  Such as vampire slaying and lifting heavy objects. We'll make plans and get out of here. You'll be home before you know it."

She pauses for all of a second.  "No, we'll be home.  There's nothing to keep me here.  I don't have a watcher, no one has a watcher anymore!  And destiny apparently hasn't called me as the next Slayer.  Might as well try to pick up where I left off."

Re: Episode 1-7

As Annabelle and Emilia returned to the pump station with everyone, a Sunnydale police car passed by the station.

You immediately hear the sound of brakes schreeching followed by the sound of a police car siren as they did a u-turn in the middle of the street and pulled into the station.

Two Sunnydale officers jump out of their car and pull out their guns (not batons, GUNS)but remain a safe distance away as they point their guns at the group.

"Look, it's the fugitives we're looking for.  All of you get on your knees with your hands behind your heads!  NOW!  Don't make us shoot you!"

OCC: Two cops with guns are here.  There is a shotgun in your police car close enough for Graham to grab if he wants to shoot at them. You may use your police car for cover. Anyone attacking the cops with a ranged attack (shooting, throw stake) has initiative on them.  Anyone attacking them up close does NOT have initiative since they are far enough away to shoot first. So for example if Mike wants to run over and punch both cops, they will to get to shoot at him first before he reaches them.

"This brings back memories," Graham says while reaching into the cruiser and pulling out the rifle stored there.  Taking cover behind the cruiser door, he cocks the rifle, and takes aim at the tires of their cruiser.  "I think you two might want to surrender before you get hurt," he shouts back at the cops.

"You're the one that's gonna get hurt punk!! He's got a gun"one cop shouts.

"More police?!  They're worse than cockroaches! Come on Emilia,we'll take cover behind our police car, we don't want them shooting holes in your rental vehicle. She makes a run for their police car ready to dodge out of the way of the police start shooting.

Emilia stumbled behind the car as she shouted out not to hurt her.

Mike, on the other hand...noticed the cops in the shades. Good for him, bad for them!

"Show me what ya got..."

And he charges them. He'll save vamping out for if he gets shot, so he can prove he's more then just another mortal. And he'll deck both cops if he manages to dodge their bullets.

"You guys are really messed up!"Buffy begins to make her run at the cops in order to distract the cops' gunfire. She knew the risk and was more then willing to pay the price of her decision.

The first cop fire a bullet in the direction of Graham, but the bullet impacted the well armored door of the police cruiser as Graham continued to aim his shot.

The first cop then turned his attention to Mike, impressively managing to shot him in the chest despite his olympic level display of agility.

The second cop pointing his pistol in Buffy's direction, scoring a much easier hit  in her midsection.

Yet Mike and Buffy kept coming, Mike reached the cops first, decking each one.  They had no time to shout out in pain as Buffy also punched both of them.  Both police officers dropped to the ground unconcious, overwhelmed by the strength of their attackers.

BLAM! BLAM!  Having taken careful aim, Graham then bulleyed both front tires of the other police cruiser.

Then Buffy turned around so all her friends could get a good look at her bullet wound. Sparks were flying out of her midsection.  No, blood right?  Yes sparks, electrical sparks.  THE SLAYER IS A ROBOT?!!!

OCC: This fight is over, both cops unconcious from the attacks.  4 points of damage to Mike, 14 points of damage to Buffy.  Or whatever she is.

I'm sure you noticed bullets don't have much of an effect on vampires. Since most of their organs don't function anymore, they're not as vulnerable to firearms. Don't count on this to save your life if a vampire attacks, at best it will slow them down. Now they are useful against most demons, which hopefully we won't encounter. And they appear to work just fine against robots as well."

"Let's see...."Annabelle says, preparing to list the ways a vampire can be harmed, a subject her watcher pounded into her brain.

"The most basic is the wooden stake to the heart, doesn't have to specifically be a stake, just something made of wood.  Bows and crossbows with wooden arrows are commonly used. Then there's sunlight as you just saw. Fire works as well if they burn long enough.  The touch of a cross will harm a vampire, but it would take a lot to destroy it, say for example you have a coffin full of crosses you can throw the vampire into. Same with holy water, it will damage them but would take copious amounts to destroy them. Then there is decapitation, take a sword, ax or other large edged weapon and swing it at the neck area, the vampire's head will come off and you get two piles of dust."

Annabelle nodded her head at Emilia's newly procured supplies.  "Homemade flamethrower, very clever.  If the police weren't looking for us, I would suggest we find a jewelry store and get us a couple of cross necklaces.  Best thing to keep the undead beasties away from your neck area.  I had one but I..............lost it."

Annabelle turned to look out her window in the direction of the store.  "Hit the horn will you, they need to finish up in there so we can get moving."

Re: Episode 1-7

A little while later, the two cars are on the road, after Graham had filled up several containers with gas and stored them in the police cruiser trunk.

The group makes it to the hospital without any more Sunnydale police stopping them (and with minimal property damage from Emilia's driving).

Both vehicles pull into the hospital garage where the ambulances are usually kept.  You see just one ambulance in the garage.  It is the only other vehicle you have seen besides your two, no other vehicles in the garage or parking lot.

OCC: You're in the hospital garage now.  Your two vehicles are safe from view from the road, nobody will notice them unless they also enter the garage.  Mike may move about freely since he's safe from the sun in here.

Hearing that, Annabelle spun around and walked back to the trunk of the rental car.  "We've got it, thank you." she says to Buffybot as she hefts one, then the other of Emilia's two suitcases out of the trunk, then grabs the handle of both.  That Slayer strength training came in handy.

Re: Episode 1-7

As the team enters the hospital, they find something they haven't seen anywhere else in Sunnydale.  The electricity is on.  Hospital emergency generator is working.  Plenty of medical supplies to be found, when the staff and patients evacuated they didn't take everything.

Annabelle manages to perform some basic first aid on Graham.  Then she and Emilia take turns, one showers and takes a nap in a vacant hospital room while the other guards against intruders.  Hospitals are public places after all, the invitation requirement doesn't apply to vampires here if one manages to dodge the sun and make it inside. Emilia takes her nap first, then manages to get some reading done while Annabelle takes her turn.

Graham meanwhile recons the whole hospital.  Plenty of medical supplies if they want to grab some.  He also finds some food left in the hospital cafeteria, none spoiled since the refrigerators are still working. No other signs of life, human or otherwise, besides the five of them.

Buffybot meanwhile finds a hospital room of her own and powers down which activates her self repair circuitry to mend her bullet wound.

Mike quickly found a cot in a windowless room and dozed right off as his vampire regeneration powers began to heal his wounds.

Hours pass.  7:30 pm Sunnydale time.

Mike wakes up to find everyone else now up and about.  He looks out the nearest window at the setting sun. He estimates about half an hour until sunset.

OCC: Mike and Buffybot are now fully healed. Graham gets back 4 life points from the first aid treatment.  Your life point charts have been adjusted.

Well, he's happy enough to burn another half hour waiting for it to be completely down, then he can happily get the hell out of here. But since he was awake and healed, he could spend this time simply waiting and watching for things that might stop him from leaving...

Re: Episode 1-7

Emilia was sitting on one of the Hospital beds reading, it wasn't particularly comfortable but it was better than the chairs, she was sure that the chairs and beds had been designed by demons. "What constitutes private property?" She asked Annabelle, "If someone turned a bit of wilderness into their home and built a cabin that would probably apply but what about if someone squatted? Legally, at least in the UK if you squat for six months you get squatters rights, daddy had some problems with some pikey's squatting in one of our lower fields a few years back, or is it the sense of home?" She asked looking up from a chapter on vampires, "These things aren't clearly stated in this book." She said with a sigh. She moved to the Mirror and popped open her handbag and started to touch up her makeup.

Annabelle listens to Emilia's questions as she puts her shoes back on.  "Yes they are quite vague.  Most occult books are very old and as such do not reflect the circumstances of the modern world. It would be the bee's knees if someone would publish an updated edition every couple of years. From what my watcher told me, hotel rooms are not considered home regardless of how long a person has dwelled there, they are public places, so you wouldn't be safer from vampire entering there.

She stands up and looks out the window, noticing the setting sun.  "There's still a lot of uncovered territory.  For example, what if you rent a house from someone else?  And then, you fall behind on the rent?  Is that still you're private property?"She shakes her head."Don't ponder it too much, it may drive you mad.  So, where did you get that book?  And did I hear you say something earlier about summoning a demon?"

She closed the book briefly, "It's not to clear on anything, the only thing I've managed to do with this book so far is understand a little about a little, and most of that isn't that clear..." Re: Episode 1-7

Emilia took stock of the supplies, Hospitals clearly were not designed for those on a diet, she looked through the supplies and started up the stove, "Annabelle sweetie just put about a dozen eggs in some boiling water." Boiled eggs served a double purpose, one they were fairly nutritious, secondly they would bung everyone up so no uncalled for bathroom stops.  She removed a couple of tins of tuna, and started to slice a lettuce that didn't seem as brown as some of the others she added a tomato to the mix. The bread was serviceable, although it looked a little processed, "I'm not sure this bread has ever even seen wheat before." She said as she was preparing a dozen tuna mayo and salad sandwiches. She looked up at Annabelle "Can you see if they have any Tupperware or clingfilm we can use to wrap these up." She moved to where the fruit was stored, she always wondered what hospital food looked like before the kitchen got hold of it... apparently it was usual food, probably through some dark mystical arts they turned it into the sludge they gave the patients.

Annabelle looked disappointed.  With no watchers or slayer to monitor her, she was looking for an opportunity to break her strict SIT diet.  But this was no time to argue, she did as Emilia suggested and boiled a dozen eggs.

"Graham should have no complaints, this will be a king's feast compared to his usual meal.  What's that thing that passes for food that soldiers eat out of a plastic bag?  Oh yes rations, that's it."

After a couple of minutes of looking she finds the suitable packing supplies.  "Here you are dear, tupperware containers, and I found some large paper bags to pack it all in. No if we can find some beverages, we should be all set.  This should be plenty for Graham, you, and me. If we're lucky Michael found his brand of nourishment in the blood bank."
