Re: Episode 2-1

Mike finally steps out of hiding.

"You'll excuse my caution. Half the cops around here seem legit, the other half aren't. And I thought I smelled some vampirism on you two, even though that can't be right because you walked through the sun and came in uninvited. I've been watching you since you got here, waiting to jump in in case you turned out to be cops on the wrong side."

In reply to Director (msg # 21):

Graham grabs a change of clothes, and grabs something to eat while packing a bag full of food.  With the address in hand, he heads out to the vehicles to see if any of them are usable.  "I hope so, other wise it will be a long walk back into town."

At the military base:

Graham finds a working jeep, starts it up, throws in his supplies, and heads off to the address.

He makes good time due to the extreme lack of traffic on the road, and soon turns down Spooner Street.  He's about four houses away from the one he's looking for, when he sees the police car parked in front of it.

Re: Episode 2-1

Inside the safe house:

"You must be the ensouled vampire.  Vampires? Us?  Yeah, we get that a lot.  When you've been a Sunnydale cop as long as we have, the scent of a vampire becomes stuck on your uniform no matter how much you wash it."says the second cop.

The cop shows Mike the contents of the urn he took from Annabelle.

"I guess you heard all this with your vamp hearing, but this is all that's left of Emilia Grey.  A magic spell that went wrong.  Not uncommon in this town."he looks over at Annabelle, then back to Mike.

"The other girl is taking it pretty hard, you'd better keep an eye on her.  We're going to take this urn and we'll contact her parents once communication outside Sunnydale is restored. The good news is electricity, phone lines, and water are all on now, you can call somebody, just not outside Sunnydale. And like we said, you all need to stay here. We've got unusual cloud cover today, meaning sunlight is not keeping the vampires indoors as usual.  Which would be fine if you were the only vampire in town, but you're not.  We've still got several of those prehistoric vampires unaccounted for.

Re: Episode 2-1

Annabelle looks indignantly at the first cop.  "Yes I am taking it 'pretty hard' and I'll thank you not to talk about me as if I weren't even in the room!"

Annabelle reaches her hand underneath the collar of her shirt.  "I'm wearing a cross on a necklace I just obtained earlier today. "Vampires are repelled by crosses, even ensouled ones like Michael. I'm going to show you all my cross, anyone here who is a vampire  will recoil in terror from it, thus proving who's a vampire.

Annabelle then pulls out her cross necklace and shows it everyone.

Re: Episode 2-1

Mike recoils. And no, he's not faking it. He's not as strong willed as his sire, not yet, so he can't even do that thing where he forces himself to touch a cross, as the strongest vampires are able to do.

Unfortunately, a cross at that close range reveals his other face instinctively, and he slips into 'game face' as it were...

Re: Episode 2-1

Michael's not the only one in the room repelled at the sight of Annabelle's cross.

The cop standing next to Mike, also recoils and morphs into vamp face at the sight of the cross.  "Get that damn thing away from........uh oh."

He looks over at his partner, also now in vamp face.  Looks like they were vampires after all.  "Our covers blown!  Let's get out of here!"

Both cops dash for the front door.

OCC:Anyone who wants to stop the vamp cops, proceed to the combat thread. They're not out the front door yet.

In reply to Director (msg # 41):

Graham parked the jeep down the road, got out, locked it and moved towards the house.  The police being here meant trouble.  Moving stealthily but quickly, he approached the police cruiser to see if anyone was in it.  He palms his combat knife as he approaches, prepared to incapacitate any enemies that he may encounter.

OOC: I am assuming I will not be in range to "hear" the combat yet but will probably approach the house after checking out the cars.

Re: Episode 2-1

"I knew it!  Don't let them leave!"Annabelle shouted.  While absorbed in her grief over Emilia, Annabelle still managed to pay attention when Michael said his senses told him the cops were vampires.  Her test paid off, Michael wasn't the real target of her cross, and she wasn't the least bit surprised when the police revealed their true faces. How they got inside without an invitation can be figured out later.

Annabelle went for the second vamp, aiming a kick at him.
The vamp easily dodged her pathetic attack as Annabelle hoped no one was watching.

Michael quickly made it clear why the others kept him around. He was a warrior through and through, and the sheer grace, speed, skill, and strength of his maneuvers made it clear just how good he really was. Even if he missed, he was just so professional about his combat.

His famous tactic of grabbing a cop...and in this case, throwing him head first into the sturdiest piece of wall he can find...should make his point.

"Leaving so soon?"

Mike grabs the second cop and sends him flying, he misses the wall instead crashes through the front window of the house, doing a nifty Superman impression in the process, as he sails past the porch and lands in the shrubs at the front of the house.  He doesn't burst into flame though, the cops were telling the truth about the cloud cover.

Outside, Graham has made it to the police car, he crouches down and sees no one inside.  Just then he sees a vampire cop fly through the front window and land on the shrubs.  A second later another vampire cop runs out the front door and is halfway to the police car, talking on his radio.  "We need backup!  900 Spooner Street!  Send the SWAT team!".

He keeps running to the car, with Graham hiding on the other side.

OCC: Back to the combat thread.  No damage to the heroes.  Second cop is in the shrubs at the front of the house and is an easy target until he gets to his feet. First cop is halfway to the car but doesn't see Graham hiding on the other side, Graham is in position for an ambush attack if he wants. No sunlight due to cloud cover, so Mike can leave the house to keep fighting. First cop has called for backup, so I suggest you finish this fight and scram unless you want to fight a vampire cop SWAT team.

Re: Episode 2-1

Mike dashed outside after the opponent he threw, wooden stake in hand. And mercilessly, he tried to stake the downed vampire. 3 times, if necessary, to finish him off!

"Officer dust, meet ashtray."

THOK!   Foom!  One stake from Mike was all it took to finish this one off.

Graham comes out from behind the cop car, combat knife in hand. "Did somebody mention SWATing?" Graham moves forward and catches the vamp's arm with the walkie-talkie, and steps forward with the knife in the other hand, plunging it into the vamp's heart.

"AAAAAHHH!!!  The vampire cop cries out in pain for a second, then stares at Graham.  "Good shot kid, too bad it wasn't made of wood."

Annabelle was the last to rush out of the house.  "We have to finish them off fast and leave!  This safe house is no longer safe!"
The next thing she saw left her breathless. "Graham!  You're alive!"
Michael had one vampire covered and would likely finish him off. Graham was going after the other one.  Annabelle ran up to the vampire by the police car, nailing him with two consecutive punches.

<Red>OCC: Back to the combat thread.

Re: Episode 2-1

Mike runs over to the last vamp and delivers quite an impressive coup de gras with his stake. That should be the end of that. It was as the form of the vampire cop turned to dust.

"This place has been compromised. We need to get out of here...unless..."

OCC: Thank you Michael.  This fight is now over.  Everybody back to the main thread.

Mike picks up the com unit of the dusted officer.

"Cancel SWAT team, situation is under control."

Mike figured if he said it...well, at least he was a vampire and could prove it if dispatch told him to.

"Copy that.  Canceling SWAT team. You two get back here as soon as possible.  The chief wants a full report. Dispatch out."

Michael has bought some time for now.

Mike turns the communication device off, and leaves it in the cop car.

"The police of Sunnydale, undead or not, are deeply stupid. I THINK I bought time for us, the dispatch addressed me as 'you two', but I still think we should get moving, soon."

"And it appears that the vampires are solidifying their control of the town," Graham added while he popped open the police cruiser to search it for any weapons or other usable gear.  "They hit the army base, killing the remaining personnel and clearing out the armory."

After piling everything he collected from the car on the curb, he shut the the trunk and looked around.

Mike thought about that.

"They might not be expecting us to go to a military base when everyone there is dead. I guess it depends on if we're seen going there or not. Still, we have to go somewhere. I can't rely on cloudcover forever."

Re: Episode 2-1

"Good to see you again Graham.  I don't suppose you have some alternative transportation nearby?  Using the police vehicle for our escape would not be a good idea."

Annabelle then looks at the assembled group. "It is now apparent that some or possibly all of the Sunnydale police force are vampires.  That can be the only explanation for how they were able to enter the safe house without an invitation. Since the house is the property of the police department, an invitation from a human officer would suffice. If they are all now vampires, an invitation would no longer be necessary since the property would in effect be entirely owned by vampires.

After piling everything he collected from the car on the curb, he shut the the trunk and looked around.  Seeing the girl from China he adds, "Uh, I'm Graham by the way." He holds out a hand for her to shake.

Graham found three things in the trunk of the police cruiser.

A standard issue police pistol (likely a spare if one was lost).

A first aid kit.

A small cooler holding a six pack of Budweiser beer.  Looks like vamp cops drink on duty too.

Mike considerd. "Bullets are nigh on useless against vampires. Clearly, they're expecting to mostly be attacking mortals, or they wouldn't carry these. Well, they work on some demons, I suppose. Anyways, they needn't fear having their weapons taken away."

Hmmm.

"The rest of you really need to find a house that still required an invitation. If it keeps me out, it'll keep them out too. Let's go look for one."

Graham tucks the revolver at his back, inside his pants and covers it with his shirt.  If nothing else the gun could be used as a distraction.  He grabs the cooler and the first aid kit and begins to move it towards his jeep.  "Actually Annabelle I have a military issue jeep I have, uh, commandeered for the duration of this incident."

He stops next to his ride and stores their supplies.  "Anything else in the house we could use before we abandon this position?" he calls back to the others.  "If so, I suggest we collect it ASAP and then vacate this locale before others show up."

"Yes, I've got something to collect.  Emilia's remains." Without waiting for a response from anyone Annabelle returns to the house and soon comes out with the urn in one hand and Emilia's suitcase in the other.

"Michael, your idea is not an option, we're not leaving you out in the cold.......figuratively speaking.  We will find a safe place for all of us or none.  And don't forget, there are still Turok-Hans on the loose, who are not bound by the invitation rule, so a house won't protect us from them."

As Annabelle talks, Michael can't help but notice the Turok-Han bite on her neck from less than 12 hours ago seems to have healed more than it should.  Not super regeneartion, but looks like it's been healing for a couple of days already.

Re: Episode 2-1

Half an hour later, the three have packed up in Graham's jeep and on their way to the abandoned house.  Any food left in the safe house has been confiscated.  No portable generator to take, but a quick check of two houses on the same side of the street indicates the vamp cops were telling the truth:electricity is back on in Sunnydale.

Five minutes after they depart:

Another police car pulls up, two vamp cops get out. "They're gone chief and the two cops you sent here are piles of dust. Request instructions."

The voice on the other end says "Go on about your business.  It was on a matter of time before they found out the truth about us.  The two cops I sent in the first time were expendable. Over and out."

Cut to a shot of the chief in his office as he picks up the phone anc calls the mayor.  "Mr. Mayor, they've evacuated the safe house.  But I've got good news.  The cops we had stationed at various hiding place across town report the Berkshire girl ran from the mall to the safehouse carrying an urn and crying all the way.  I think she bought it.

You then hear the mayor's voice on the other end, but don't see him."Excellent, little do any of them know that Emilia Grey is on a plan back to England with no memory of what happend here at all. As for Ms. Berkshire, she saw exactly what we wanted her to see and believed every bit of it. That was a delicate situation, a Non-American minor with wealthy parents can't simply be killed, people will notice. We'll likely have to handle Ms. Berkshire in a similar manner. We musn't rock the boat. Good work chief, everything is right on schedule.

The chief hangs up the phone.
