Evil McEvil Story

I'll put up opening scene soonish unless Tim beats me to it.  Just posting this here as a reminder:

quote:
Evil characters might be self-interested scoundrels,
but it is almost always in their best interest to throw
in their lot with other characters. A lone adventurer
stands little chance of defeating a dragon or surviving
an encounter with a beholder, but an adventurer with
powerful allies in tow can. Even villains understand
their best chance of survival comes from surrounding
themselves with like-minded allies.

It's mostly up to the players to make their characters playable.

Re: Evil McEvil Story

Billy is currently in bunny mode, being in a town that generally accepts non-human races (as long as you don't cause trouble). Sure, he and his wife and daughter got odd looks throughout their stay so far, but the two of them have a way of just charming everyone. Oh there will always be people who refuse to find the two charming, but Billy and Velocity already have several people wrapped around their fingers. He scratches Angel behind the ear, kisses her and Velocity, then says, "Good morning, my two lovely ladies. I'm going out to the bar to order a morning special. Come when you're ready, but don't take too long."

Re: Evil McEvil Story

As Billy wakes her and then leaves the room, Velocity smiles. She gets herself and Angel dressed. "Another morning, another step closer to our goals, honey." Velocity says to Angel. The little 8-year-old bunny girl Angel smiles brightly. "Smells so good, I can taste it."

Velocity sniffs at the air. Then gives Angel a coy smile. "You mean the food? Or our inevitable victory?"

Angel giggles. "Yes!" she responds in a cheerful childlike tone.

Velocity chuckles. "I love you, Angel."

Angel responds with a hug. "Love you too, Mom."

The two head out to the bar to join their beloved Billy.

Angel is an NPC I'm playing who provides no mechanical benefit, unless you count "here, carry this book for me" or something as mechanical benefit. Anyways, she'll be here mostly for flavor.

Re: Evil McEvil Story

Meanwhile, in the dining room of the inn, a dark hooded figure broods in the shadows.  What little could be seen of the figure is armored, so one can only guess what race this nearly 6' tall person might be, but the shape of the helmet suggests Dragonborn.  It watches the patrons carefully, but the head under the hood doesn't move, so it's hard to tell who's being watched at any given moment.

Re: Evil McEvil Story

Sitting in the dining area of the inn sits a man with long black hair and piercing green eyes that occasionally look up from the tome that seemed to hold more of his attention than the world around him.  Dark runes skitter across the surface of the book as he looks down and scratches something down on a piece of parchment before looking up to scan the room once again.  He then goes back to his book.

Re: Evil McEvil Story

Billy comes down first, having headed down before the girls even got dressed. Upon seeing the cloaked figure and the dark-haired man with dark runes who seemed to be taking notes on his surroundings, Billy figures out real quick "one of these things is not like the other" and thus, that these two must be adventurers. But they are at separate tables. He figures if he gets to sit at one, his wife will figure out to charm the other.

Cloaked figure? Probably someone disguising himself either because he doesn't wanna be found or because he "looks monstrous". Observation: Having a guy talk to him, probably unwelcome. Having a girl talk to him would likely take him off guard and think it's a trap, but the initial shock might permit for actual conversation. Assessment: Leave him for Velocity.

Bishi dark dude who's reading a book with dark runes and taking notes of those around him. Likely smart or scholarly. Observation: Having a girl might be unsurprising as he might very well be used to girls swooning over him. Guy might miss the company of a genuine guy hanging out. Especially a fellow bishi since big tough-guys likely annoy him since they likely picked on him growing up. "Oh look at the egghead pretty boy wimp" blabla. Assessment: Billy should talk to him.

Billy heads for Viktor, in his bunny form and all. He smiles and says, "Greetings, stranger. My name is Billy. I hope I'm not interrupting anything, but I couldn't help but notice the runes... I believe you are equipped for adventuring like my wife and I. Am I right?"

Re: Evil McEvil Story

Velocity comes into the room soon afterwords, Angel in tow. She sees Billy talking to Viktor. Then notices Legion. Vel immediately figures it out and heads for Legion. "Is this seat taken?" she asks of him softly. If he doesn't answer, she sits anyway. She points out Billy. "Over there is my husband. You see him talking to that other man? I think he's getting ready to rustle up some capable people to join him and I on some dangerous, yet high-yield endeavors. You interested?"

She had a feeling someone this "don't talk to me" dressed, she would have to talk fast and make her point quickly and clearly.

The robed figure's gauntleted hand opens and closes a few times before he answers in an emotionless deep voice, "Yes."

After another moment of thought he continues, "I am intrigued.  Tell me more of these dangerous yet high yield endeavors."

Re: Evil McEvil Story

Scratching more notes on the parchment in front of him as he flips a page in the book, emerald colored eyes look up to see the bunny in front of him, his eyebrow raising slightly.  If anything annoyed him, it would be the typical good guy that holds themselves in high regard because they slayed a tomb full of zombies... Zombies that typically he had raised.  That was the only real thing that annoyed him.

While he wasn't used to being approached by much of anyone, the dark runes that skitter across the cover of his tome usually enough of a deterrent, but this one was different.  Whether it was for good or for ill had not yet been decided yet.  Regardless, the bunny man was correct in his assessment.  No reason to deny him that satisfaction at the very least.

Closing his tome, he glances over at Billy.  Nothing that couldn't stand being interrupted.  Yes, I am what you would call an adventurer...

Billy smiles softly. "Then won't you join my wife and I on an adventure or two? Between you, her, me, and the guys she's talking to, we'd likely be able to do most anything we're tasked with."

Velocity says, "Well... Billy and I just got here last night, but there are a number of options available to us." she points at the bilboard that rests on the side wall of the inn. There, pinned to it, are quests.

(OOC: Had thought Chris was running, so... I have no idea what quests we're doing)

More hand opening and closing.  Legion turns toward the board then back to Velocity.

"Yes.  Let's go to them and discuss these...  options."

He stands and shoulders his backpack then waits for Velocity to take him to her hubby.

The board has two quests, a wanted poster, and 3 lost-and-found requests.  Both quests seem to require a faith expert.  Haunted house needs exorcised, as does a crypt.  All but the wanted poster look old.

Re: Evil McEvil Story

There is something to be said for being direct, it would seem.  Regardless, it sounds far more entertaining than just sitting here going over this tome for the however manyeth time.  Though I still manage to find something new everytime.  Allow me to introduce myself.  Viktor.  He said, closing his book and placing it on the table, looking over at Velocity, wondering if that was his wife.

Hmm.  A cat married to a rabbit.  Predator and prey living in peace.  Quite the interesting little surprise.  At least this will be entertaining to say the least

Billy nods. "A pleasure to meet you, Viktor." He looks over to see Velocity approaching with Legion and says, "Guess she'll be taking over from here."

Billy stands up as Vel gets closer and pulls a seat for her. Velocity smiles at Billy, sits, and locks eyes with Viktor. Billy then sits and pulls Angel onto his lap, holding her close and kissing the top of her head.

Re: Evil McEvil Story

On the way to Billy, Velocity took note of the wanted poster to notice who was wanted and for how much. After introductions are made, Velocity says, "Well then. Billy, Angel and I have not eaten yet. So we can have pleasantries right alongside our preparations for which quest we'll be doing first. There's a haunted house that needs to be exercised, and there's a crypt needing the same thing." she chuckles while saying "I don't suppose either of you are holy men?"

"Maybe in a former lifetime I was a servant of a god or two, but not this time.  But I'm sure there's more than one way to skin a cat.  I wonder if they've considered demolishing the haunted house."

His movements were fluid for a man, rising up from his seat smoothly enough and making his way over to the table with Legion and the others, eyes flicking over to the wanted poster, memorizing it almost instantly.  I am no holy man.  In fact, holy men often think me possessed by evil forces.  Raise a zombie from the grave and all of the sudden, you're a monster.  Such a judgmental world we live in...

Billy nods. "You're telling me... My wife and I have to be careful how we appear and where, simply because of how we look." At least raising corpses is a choice. How you look when you're born? Not so much. But in this magical world with Billy and Velocity being what they are, they CAN at least choose to look human.

He then looks to his wife. She's the boss, after all.

Re: Evil McEvil Story

Velocity nods. "Yes... as for demolition, unfortunately a destroyed building doesn't discourage ghosts. In fact, some places are haunted because a home burned down. Still others are brand new homes, but get haunted because they were built on ground where there may have been a home or grave thousands of years ago. This Mill Run bandit looks more tangible, though. Something good for us to get familiar with each others' skills."

She then turns her attention to Viktor with a half-lidded expression and a charming smile. "Raise zombies, you say? I'm flattered you trust Billy and I with that information. What all can you do, Viktor?"

(OOC: Side note. We said a level a month. That puts us at level 3 and very soon level 4. If I remember, the "level a month" was specifically to encourage Dre to post. Which it didn't. We keeping to this rule? I'm fine with it m'self, but just wanted to post a reminder on that.)

Legion thinks for a few moments.  "...Yes.  I will join you in searching for the Mill Run Bandit.  Of course, we will be dividing any spoils and reward money evenly.  I'm curious if you're planning on including your little one and claim three fifths of the treasure."
