Occubus and Cassandra decided early on that they had no interest in raising their children to be decent, polite citizens or worldly scholars or even to have an eye towards future generations. They wanted their children to become warriors. When Orin and Orion were young the fight to survive every day was real.  Attacks seemed never ending in those days and the tide of darkness was only growing even as the Travelers beat it back. Throughout the entire evolution of Kylterran it has consistently been under attack.  In this environment Occubus and Cassandra decided that shaping their offspring into living weapons was the best thing they could do for them. It wasn’t quite that simple though, Occubus and Cassandra are equally driven, ambitious and ruthless. They believed themselves to be of superior genetic stock and agreed that having as many natural children as possible would ensure a future dynasty. They also agreed that as space allowed they would adopt only the most special of children to complement their family and to train up to fight against their enemies.

   They start training early pretty much as soon as they can walk. It is subtle initially and mostly simulator guided. Toddlers are very susceptible to the Mystic Simulator because to them it’s all reality anyway. The training modules take the childs developmental psychology into account, afterall too much PTSD can be a bad thing. Still the goal is to precondition them to battle the forces of darkness so it is pretty radical stuff. Imagine being a live participant in Sesame Street where some of the fuzzy monsters are Shadowbeasts, Baalrogs, the Dark Gods etc. but Super Grover is there to show you exactly how to fight them and what can kill them. And Grover points out that he is a monster too but sometimes we have to fight with monsters against worse things. Sometimes we even have act like monsters. The important thing is that we have control of the monsters that fight for us and that we can control the monster inside ourselves. So yeah it only gets wackier from there.

   Oddly enough when Anthony (Alter Occubus) and Cassandra began their relationship they picked right up where Occubus and her left off.  They have since had six children including her fourth set of twins. Cassandra has birthed fourteen children which would likely wreck a typical woman. Cassandra still has the body of a woman in her prime and looks in her early thirties. If you have access to the most powerful magic in the world it would be silly not use it. She makes time for her children but there are so many it is often a business like affair and typically consists of talks while she is beating them down with a sword. There are all kinds of ways to love your children. Occubus and Cassandra based theirs primarily on the instinct of survival born of the constant struggle they had known all their lives and the ever deepening knowledge of the growing darkness. They always knew they would have lots of kids.  In fact they both had recurring dreams about it when they were very young. You know because if you’re a Chronomancer with access to the True Dream World it’s only natural your gonna manipulate shit.

After being trapped in Endlessness with Dragan the two were each other’s only companions in the infinite darkness for what seemed like an eternity. By staying together in the terrible abyss they were able to maintain their individual sanity and they understandably developed a deep and lasting bond initially born of survival but one that blossomed into love. Once free of their prison the idea of being Dragans mortal consort was not enough for the daughter of Occubus Gimel. With the Travelers help she enacted the legendary ritual of Karsus Avatar and assumed the power of the goddess Tark.  By doing so she destroyed one of Dragans most powerful adversaries in the Southern Pantheon and solidified, in her mind at least, a position of equality between herself and the being she is most devoted to in the Megaverse.

His ultimate goal was always to return to Palladium, destroy Kylterran and kill all the Travelers. Oddly enough something always seems to come up and the longer he is gone the less important that goal seems. In the last few hundred years he honestly hasn’t thought about Palladium much.  The part of him that was Orin existed for only a small period of time and even if a complete alignment reversal managed to happen again Orin is essentially gone and will never really return.

From her father she got ambition and sociopathic tendencies.  Add the” nurture” of growing up a Gimel to that kind of “nature” and you get Arissa in… well… all her Glory.  In fact at this point in her life Glory is not her alter ego but her full time identity.  She is vain, egomaniacal, craves attention and wants to be adored by the public. She flies around looking for wrongs to right but mostly making public appearances. Lately she has been venturing into the worlds hot spots spoiling for a fight and most often coming out victorious. Everyone was most surprised by the way they took to the Dragonwright faith itself. In fact they were instrumental in the building of the Ziggurat in Kylterran that is identical to the Great Temple in Kor. Growing up the twins were inseparable and not much has changed. In fact their dirty little secret is their taboo incestuous relationship. Though for the most part the secret is out and while they are sensitive to the general negative perception in the end they are best friends and they love one another. Like most of the Gimels they figure fuck everybody else anyway.

Neither Occubus or Cassandra are psychic so naturally psionics are not prevalent in their children. Butch however was the exception to that trend. Born a natural empath Butch was soft hearted, kind and the sweetest of all the Gimel children. His twin sister Amelia was similar in temperament and equally loved by all. The two of them were best friends and constant companions. Butch was there when Arbitrax the Millenium Demon kidnapped Amelia. They were only nine and the sight of the monstrous assassin from the Demiplane of Dread paralyzed young Butch with fear. Amelia died very badly and Butch never recovered from the incident. He became withdrawn, paranoid, depressed and full of self loathing. He did not set foot out of the Gimel mountain complex for over four years and has never left Kylterran. He has spent most of his life self medicating with one thing or another as well as a lot of spying on people through scrying. He also learned to use his psionic abilities to manipulate the Mystic Simulator at Gimel Mansion and he spends most of his time in fantasy worlds of his own creation. Recently he was visited by Occubus and given a few options. First choice is he could leave and go live somewhere else in the world. Second choice was he could take his own life. The third regarded what he would need to do if he wanted to remain part of the family. Since he did not have the time to train or put in all the work his siblings had to turn themselves into living weapons Occubus offered to use magical experimental Bio-Wizardry on him. Butch thought that sounded rad.

Having grown up in the shadow of the Great Tree of Epim one of their earliest memories was the day it transformed itself into a true Millenium Tree. They witnessed it firsthand and according to them they were visited by Epim that day. They were initially the only Holy Knights of Epim among the ranks of Ordingale but many more from Kylterran are now trying to follow suit. When they graduated their fathers gave them gifts. Occubus gave the twins a pair of mated Adult Mighty Wooly Dragons and footmans Dragonlances. Anthony gave them both a pair of matching Gladius style swords. One is a Holy Weapon made from Millenium wood and blessed by Epim. The other is a dragon bone sword enchanted with Biomancy.

While Deneir is all pragmatism and cool confidence Loef is more emotional and adventure seeking. Just as with Deneir it was primarily Occubus's alternate self from a parallel dimension that guided the boys along their mystic path. All the Gimel children with magic potential are encouraged to tackle their studies from a multi-disciplinary approach however Loef and Denier seem to be almost wholly focused on Biomancy at this point.

Though the coin has never registered magic or seemed to help in anyway  Occubus always carried it for luck. Flipping the coin he placed it on the babies forehead and on a lark dedicated the baby to the Goddess. He declared her name Tymora andthe goddess herself took note. The Mistress of Luck flipped her infamous coin of fate. The coin landed balanced on its edge. Sitting in her palace in Olympus Tymora grinned mischievously. The matching coin sitting on the babies forehead flared to life with deific power and it has been with her ever since. She catches all the breaks and overall seems to have the most extraordinary luck. Her siblings call her the Lucky One and anytime they are planning some mischief they want her along because she seems to get out of trouble every single time somehow and usually comes out smelling like a rose.

  Deneir has few memories of Occubus from when he was younger. He never seemed to suffer from the emotional turmoil some of the older kids went through when Occubus would pop in for one of his sporadic visits. Anthony (alter-Occ) has been around since he was seven years old and the Biomancer has been a steady, positive & caring influence. His tutelage in the natural wonders of the world and magic has been ongoing. Deneir plans on following in his dads footsteps. He was accepted into the ranks of Biomancers at fourteen and has essentially left home but he returns to Gimel Mansion occasionally to visit family. His mythal abilities were discovered early on when he would dramatically heal from any injuries. At eleven years old while hiking outside the Mythal his group of friends were attacked by two Coyles. Even the though the group was only eight children ranging from 10-14 they were all kids from Kylterran and that counts for something. Deneir and his Elvish Brother Loef were the first to jump into the fray. Deneir got a sword in the heart but Loef dropped the Coyle quickly. The other Coyle killed one child but was overwhelmed by the others. As the boys looked on dumbstruck they couldn’t believe two of them were dead and Deneir was undoubtedly dead. But as they were carrying his body back he woke up. Two years later he drowned while kayaking dangerous river rapids.  Two hours after they fished him out he coughed up a shitload of water and got up and went to get some dinner. Cassandra nicknamed him the Immortal One and it stuck much to his chagrin.

Orion showing he was a chip off the o’l block immediately abandoned his wife and child and went missing from Kylterran for five and a half years. Drake’s mother was never accepted by Cassandra and she left Kylterran for the Western Empire before her son was even a year old and has not been heard from since. Drake has had untreatable Vitiligo from birth mottling his ebony skin. Over the years the discoloration slowly migrated to his face causing the young boy pain all along the way. Now at eight years old the concentrated mass of discolored skin covers the boys face in a vague skull pattern and it seems to be hardening. Tysaara and other top healers have had no success at treating the boy other than to control his pain. The condition has been diagnosed as a progressive Mythal Mutation.
