Re: Phandir 19

Burikan takes his gear and follows one of the workers to the room chosen for his stay. He quickly strips down and gets a bath anywhere he can, be it public or private. he then eats and drinks his fill, well not quite his fill of drink, but his thirst and hunger is sated.

With an oil cloth he cleans his black leather armor and polishes his weapons, paying special attention to his red iron tarak. In a short time he is ready to meet with whoever it is he needs to.

"Oh wait," she says almost dreamily.  "Fire and magic work well.  Some weapons are better than others, but... Well, it was useless information so I forgot what was better."

She shrugs and meanders to the room she is guided to.

In reply to Shadow Seeking the Light (msg #43):

Catching Shadows words, Dii nods in approval. "Thank you for your insight, Shadow. This information will likely be handy. If you remember anything else let me or the others know. It may be good to share your insight when we meet with the group and the royal staff later" Before heading off with the servant to be shown her quarters, Dii looks to the Innkeep. "Since we have time before our official meeting perhaps you can help me with something. I've charted the lands and route traveled here from my city-state of Danuvia. In my spare time I've made copies and I'm looking to sell them here in town. Might you tell me where I could fetch a good if not competitive price for such wares? Were I to achieve a reasonable degree of profit, I'd be willing to part with a "finders fee"... "

Murron:
Murron nods affirmatively at the innkeeper's suggestion of sharing a room with Sathras, and follows the servants to the room.

Sathras follows Murron to the assigned room. "We get room? Murron want Sathras keep watch?"

Rubbing his hands together Califax grinned.

Well I think after a bath I'd very much like to spend some time admiring both the city and the local food and drink.  Dii's idea of a large balcony sounds a good one, is that possible to arrange?  Somewhere to realx and look out over the city?

Following the child that leads him to his room, Kafa tells the child, "Slow down, it's not a race." As he uses his walking stick to keep himself going to the room.

Once to the room, Kafa will request some water, and a wash basin as well. "Clean water. Nothing chilled, just plain water. I'd like to clean up a bit after my travels."

If brought promptly, Kafa will still be quite strict. "Did you go all the way back to Astar to get it? Nevermind, bring it in." Though despite his comments, even though the bill is paid for by the government, Kafa will dig into a pouch, and pull out a silver coin. Tossing it up in the air, he offers, "Here, be sure to let your father know that the room is adequate."

Re: Phandir 19

While everyone else settles in to relax and refresh themselves, Califax and Dii Ahnah get themselves together quickly and inquire of the innkeeper the directions to the market. They walk down the streets in the stifling heat following the directions given. As they approach the market they see a multitude of races moving back and forth between shops and carts doing their business. The area is swarming with activity as traders hawk their wares and travellers and Dracartans alike seek to purchase and sell. The noise is almost deafening, certainly more than either Califax or Dii Ahnah have experienced before. The sheer amount of items for sale and shops around boggles the mind, one wonders if one could find ANYTHING they may want here if the price is right...

Walking with Dii Califax keeps an eye out for a tailors, wanting to find out what local cuts of clothing would be good for the land.  At the moment while he still wore the long frock coat he was bare chested beneith it, still with the wide hat to shield he eyes and head from the sun, something that has not always been in obvious view is a pale green silk collar Califax seems to be wearing now.

This is quite the place.  Be sure to keep a good hand on your purse, jostling crowds can habour all sorts.

Re: Phandir 19

After she's led to her room she stands in the middle of it, looking around it.  She pats the child on the head and leans down to look her square in the eyes.

"Would you like to hear a tale of a group who bested a rough and ferocious foe ages past," she asks the child.  Her distant flecked eyes sharpen for a moment, watching the child's face and expression.
"If you do, offer the option to your siblings and return, I shall tell you a great tale full of adventure and wonder."

She nods to the child then settles on the small bed and watches the child leave.

In reply to Shadow Seeking the Light (msg #55):

The child rushes off with a wide grin on his face and shortly you hear the running footsteps of several children of different ages. The oldest ushers the others in and directs them to sit on the floor in front of you, only sitting herself once the others have settled. They all look at you with wide eyes and the smallest addresses you with an impish smile; "Please dark lady, share with us your tales of times long past and great deeds done."

Re: Phandir 19

"Mmmmm," she sighs the ghost of a smile tugging at the corner of her lips, her silver eyes looking at the bright and eager faces.  "Well, in the ages past there were an uncanny group of individuals, brought together by what some would call fate, while others would call luck, and others yet still would say it was strange chance.  Each of them had a wish, a wish bigger than anything you could think of.  Each wish was different, but powerful.  Part of me thinks that it was the wishes that drew them together, but I digress.  You don't care about them getting together, or why they did.  A horrible disease broke out, people were falling left and right.  People thought it was a natural illness, but it wasn't.  A strong and ruthless wizard was experimenting with creating a new race of men.  Like the Thralls or the Monad, but he wanted something different and more powerful.  He was capturing people of all types, taking them apart and trying to put them together the way he wanted them to be.  The magic he used was making everyone very sick."
She continues going on, describing how the heroes found out how the wizard was behind it, then how they ended up stopping him.  For the girls she told of the romance between some of the members, for the boys she told of the rivalries between them.  She detailed the battles and the lulls, finishing with the heroes victory, and the price some of them paid for it.

"Would it surprise you to learn that I actually don't have alot of weight to my coin purse? That is actually why I'm exploring the town, to find a place to sell my maps. Looking over them again though, I don't seem to be able to really make out my own calligraphy. I've got a bad feeling that they may not be worth much in this city. But I figured I'd try anyway. What interests are you looking to quell with this journey into the city, Cal?"

Tilting his head to one side Califax shrugged.

I had not actually considered your state of money.  My personal quest for thos market place is to find somewhere that does fine looking clothing for this area and then have my wonderful jacket mimic a closely styled cut to make the overal atmosphere more comfortable for me. He offers a grin, And of course spending some more time in your delightful company.  But that aside, your looking to sell maps you think are not up to much use.  So some embelishments is what you would be concentrating on to have them shifted yes?

He spoke somewhat quieter now as they discussed business.

Re: Phandir 19

As Califax and Dii Ahnah are about to enter the marketplace from the side street they were walking on Dii Ahnah catches out of the corner of her eye something rushing out from the alley just a moment too late. A split second later the shadowy figure thrusts something into Califax's back. There are 2 subtle flashes of magic as warding spells are triggered by the expertly placed blow. Califax manages to avoid being knocked down by the force of the blow but is otherwise completely unharmed. Both Dii Ahnah and Califax spin to face the figure, a robed Djaffir holding a curved dagger in one hand. His eyes are wide in the mask at the ineffectiveness of what was a perfectly placed blow. The Djaffir steps back into the alley, dagger held at the ready to keep from being flanked. Nearby people who observed the attack scatter, some calling for the watch...

Re: Phandir 19

Caught off guard for a momment Califax stumbles and looks around, turning to face the attacker.  With a slight snarl of anger he brings his hands up, the left brushing the inside of the right fore arm and suddenly there is a tri-bow in his hands pointed at the Djaffir.

I can put three bolts in you before you can get away.  Now might be an idea to tell me what the dark side of the moons you think your doing.

Yet again Califax was thankful for the protection he carried on him, that could have been a very nasty blow, worse if poison had been involved.

Seeing the attack on Califax, Dii begins to assess the Djaffir and his surroundings. After Califax makes his statement, she whispers just within the earshot of the Djaffir in Rajanin, ""

Re: Phandir 19

The assassin laughs at Dii Ahnah's statement and spits at the ground in front of Califax. Dii Ahnah studies him closely and determines he will not be backing down. She lashes out with her paired daggers, catching him once solidly and the second blow grazes the assassin. Simultaneously Califax fires his tri-bow but the bolt goes wild and the trigger seems to be jammed. While this is happening the assassin barks out something in a guttural voice and his left hand is limned in flickering black radiance for a moment as he reaches towards Dii Ahnah and brushes his hand against her. She feels a chill as some of her life force is torn from her and notices the assassin's wounds close a bit. The assassin then lurches at Califax with his dagger, the blow partially absorbed by his armor spell and the remainder grazing his arm. However a moment later Califax feels a burning pain rushing up his arm.

OOC: Califax fumbles his bolt, fouling the trigger for 1 round
Dii Ahnah has a hit and a partial hit, dealing 5 hp and 2 hp (adjusted for armor and adamant)
Assassin partial success on spell (3 hp to Dii Ahnah, heals 3 hp; second action to attack Califax w. partial success (2 hp damage + 10 poison as Califax fails resist roll)

Assassin
CR +6 PR 2 HP: 18/21
Dagger DR 5 or Spell

Dii Ahnah: 25/28     Califax: 8/20

(On the assassin's spell I mistakenly rolled d20-2, it should have been d20 so that is why the partial success)
