In reply to Clair Brandywhine (msg # 999):

bumped everyones exp a little per the last encounter - you'll get more as you go.  remember you all share equally so 1,000 exp earned for the group is 200 exp each plus any 10%'s and so forth added in.  You'ss earn for kills, play, gold/spoils, magic items, actions, group actions, how successful each encounter was and so forth.

I do not penalize for slow posts, bad posts, not a lot of posts, missing posts ect.

I do try to give holiday's and happy day events extra exp or gold or such :)

Now, on to what you are going to do next.

Re: ooc

Ok, as promised my review of this game:

Is the campaign going to Fast?  To slow?

I wouldn't mind a bit faster pace. But am glad it's moving at all, since the original DM left.

Am I giving everyone enough time to post?

Yes.

Am I to detailed in each encounter?  not enough detail?

So far i think the details were ok. If it happens that it is not enough, i think we can always ask for more or specific description. More is usualy better though.

Is it still an interesting campaign.   Do you want anything changed?

I think it's an interesting campaign. We players have a nemesis (The slaver) who we're trying to capture.
There are of course other missions (like the gypsies).
It's nice to have more then just 1 goal/mission, but there shouldn't be too many, as we might get sidetracked too much and forget what our primary mission is.

Do we have enough players?
Since Groddam is out..i think we lack 1 or 2 new players. Besides we're not high enough level to solo through dungeons and encounters.

Final opinion:
As a DM you're doing good. There have been a few posts where i had no idea where the DM starts, OOC comes in and Clair does her thing. Separating that should be a must. Either double post (1x as DM 1x as Clair) or with the use of colors.

No - it seems there are no more foes except the Ogre and the 1/2 Orc Thief both of which you can attack Next round.

Unless otherwise ruled by the DM, nope, Paladins in AD&D get their first spell slot at level 9.

Re: ooc

Ouch.. they already suck as spellcasters, since their list of spells is so limited....
So i need to wait 5 more levels just to cast one cure light spell a day...
Good thing paladins excel on other fields.

Re: ooc

long ago, there were these post sites  called  EZboards..great places to play..must have been in some 12 games on differtna  sites..and ran a few as well...then some HAcker  Jerks screwed up EZboards  and the whole  Company fell apart.

anyway..Had a real neat DM that used the   rules as Gygax  said  'guidelines'. She made  certain, she never over powered   characters by letting them have a bit of an edge.

The Kree in that game, was much like this Kree..But he was a HArper Scout...the book said they could use spells..very limited..but spells non-the less. I never argue with DMs..always figure its  their game ect ect...but of the  12 or so games I was in...she was the only one to let the HArper Scout use them..It was neat to Have Kree cast a sleep spell..then slip up and  cut throats. ect ect..so the group could move on..its was tempered, with the  fact. that he could only have the few spells listed and would have to rest like anyone else..but it sure made the group a bit better...especially on post-board games, when you never know when the Next character is going to leave the game.

Re: ooc

Yeah i had various DM's as well. Sometimes they let me do more, sometimes less then i want.

Like current DM, of a game i been playing for 7 years or so... won't let use me necro spells or traits for my sorcerer. But he let me be versatile spellcaster, which means running out of spells is much harder.

Re: ooc

In reply to Maki (msg # 1019):

I try to play close to the book per class and race with some adjustments along the way.

One is Maki, you may roll two more times on you d10 to see if you can get a higher HP roll.

dieing is very hard to do but happens and you get a binding roll to stop the bleeding before you belled out after you go negative.  If you make your roll, you do not need to be cured right away in case you have no cures at the time.

you can do some things that the game does not call out specifically.  unfortunately, i do not follow 3/3.5 but 1st/2nd ed unless you give a real good play on it.   Paly's sadly cannot get spells till higher level but you do not have to be this holy worrier following the book letter to letter LG.   play it right having fun within reason and you do not automatically become a fighter if you waver.

Rangers well, I have a hard time with this class between 1st ed and 2nd ed but allow some mixing of the books.

Mages well, just say you get spell levels to use but must memorize spells.  I can work with the spell caster on this more

Priests vs Clerics.   your call what you want to be as priests can be better but have limitations vs cleric as generic type.

Thieves, they play out harder in adventures but I try to balance them too.

Now remember I took this over and was following the past DM's low magic more thinking adventure but I add in light magic stuff and some thinking and fighting.  not always both or either.

Do not worry so much about your levels but more about playing your characters.  Special abilities can be fun but I try to keep it simple especially for me.  If you really keep your character sheets neat and easy to read it makes me understand when you do something how it was spelled out for references.  Like how a 1/2 Orc can be a Paladin or a Dwarf can cast magic user spells.

I am the DM but I also listen to the players since I am one too in a way.  If change is requested I will do my best so that you all are still interested in running about this world role playing.  I try to keep you all thinking and the difficulty level between high and medium.    At least you never went through my Kobold lair.  There was this cork screw trap that had the group pinned in for months - oh did I write that out hhmmm hey squire!!

Well, you have a tricky spot right now you are in.  but remember I never place characters into a situation they could not get out of some way.  it is just up to how you play it as to weather you live or die.

for my part?..I don't worry too much about  levels and all that..I Just RP Kree and let the chips fall where they may..some folks ( players) love him..some hate him...I like him, so..too bad  for them all!

I like what you said  about things going both ways...I do that in my games....If  the heroes  can do something, you can bet there  is a bad guy out there who can do it.

Re: ooc

I like this game as it is. And i don't play paladin because he'd be a spellcaster. I played one that was much higher level then this one, and he still was extremely limited with magic.
I must admit though that i barely know editions before 3 and 3.5, or those that came later.
But i know 1st and 2nd are much more limited in what a character can do... i guess i could say they are more realistic that way perhaps?

And yeah, the DM i mentioned earlier is similar to you. When i wanted to get Disintigrate spell for my sorcerer he said..OK, but enemies might have it as well from now on.

OOC: I roled a 10 on Maki's 2nd d10 roll :)

Re: ooc

I'm enjoying the game es it is and I don't mind magic being low - even though Senuviel's a mage - when I first built Senuviel he was supposed to be a ranger but the DM at that time ruled there was a ranger already and told me I should do something else then I just built a fighter/mage which is my second favorite class and I don't mind whether there will be magic or not I always use the mage side as an option to give the fighter a bit more of versatility, if you check Senuviel's spellbook you'll see there are more utility than offensive spells there. I am here to have fun and I really don't mind much about the rules and levels and numbers as long as the game is cohesive and fun to play. I've been playing AD&D for what, 20 years already and I don't consider myself a rules guru, in fact, I try not to bother much about them :p ironically, I dm for a group where 2 or 3 people love to discuss rules and page numbers. :p

I'm digressing....I want you guys know that I enjoy a lot this game so let's keep on rolling (the dice, eh) and rock some orcs!
