Re: Route from Lotan to Cabain

Senuviel arrives, he greets Claire and Bruga and pantiently waits for the others. He only brings his backpack with some food for the journey, 3 torches, flint and steel. A well crafted long sword can be seen hanging on his left side while a huge 2 handed sword hangs on his back together with his bow and arrows. The warrior/wizard wears no armor, but he carries a shield in his left arm, he also looks rather pensive this morning and when he talks he seems distant. Good morning Claire, Bruga. How are you people in this very morning?

Kree looks at  the  two halfling  and smiles slightly, Good  LAdy, worry not  about the watch..that is something we  will be able to sort out   when we make camp...right now?  we needs  worry about staying in one piece, so there is a camp to have..aye?

Give  me about  50 yard or  so lead...i will be stepping on and off the track from time to time....IF....I leave an arrow on the  track..look to see where it is pointed, that means  i have  found something in that direction,...if the arrow is pointed back the  way we came..stop...and begin to move back, as i have found a trap..or ambush....He pats his tunic, I have a signal whistle...i will blow it  if  thenodds  are too great...  he  chuckles  a bit,..and..if you see me  sprinting  down the track towards you?....You know there is something wrong...

If no one has  any further suggestions or questions, Kree will jog out  to his lead, and begin to work the  way ahead.

Astar gathers you together and tells you to take your positions along the wagon.
The wagon is basically a large box on wheels, there is 4 large draft horses pulling it. A space for rider and co pilot and then the stoarge space. It is not visible what is inside the wagon, it is made from solid wood. Not one of you knows what you are gaurding.

The formation is:

Up front Nickoli
On wagon Clair
Left flank Bruga
Right flank Senuviel
Rear Kree

Once they are on the way, Clair just quietly says, Sir Aster, Worry not, I will say a pray to my lady luck to guide us and let fate carry the day.  she will quietly mumble the start to a prayer just barely audible then pause acting like she is concentrating (Actually listening to see if she can over hear anything more from inside the wagon) then finish the prayer.  Smiles, looks at Aster, my lady is a fun and fancy free god, full of adventure and chance, I hope she has given us a good hand to deal with today so we can enjoy our ride.

Astar shrugs obviously unimpressed with kree's threat. "You will do what you are paid to do, or you will not be paid at all."

(the top of the wagon is as solid as the rest it is a super huge wooden box on wheels. You would all notice there are no obvious ways in, no windows or even doors to get in or out of the wagon.)

[Private to Clair Brandywhine: You still hear something but you can identify it as human, humanoid, or even animal. Just something making noise inside, it could simply be crates shifting, its nota  smooth road.]

As the wagon rolls up the track, Kree wanders off the track just  abit  and follows under the  cover of  the brush  and such, every now  and  again he  stops, looks, and listens, before moving on.

he will cross the track from time  to  time to walk the other side as well..when he does, he studies the  track to see if there is  any sign of anything  being  droped  or leaked  from the wagon.

The wagon rolls along for the remainder of the day and none of you come any closer to discovering what is inside the wagon, any noise has ceased when yous top. No one hears anything inside the wagon. At the end of the night you will all note that Astar disappears shortly for a few minutes to "relieve himself." Upon his return he pays each of you 20 gold which was half the agreed sum to each of you. "The other half when we return to Lotan." he says gruffly. Night falls and food is prepared over the fire you all have a healthy meal in you as you set to prepare your watch schedule.

Senuviel eats merrily. He sits next to Kree while every now and then he tries to study Astar's manners. The warrior/mage chit-chats with the ranger in elvish for a while then he changes to common all of a sudden. If no one objects, I'd like to take the first watch. Said that, the sits silent for a minute enjoying his food.

Nicki would take the front of the wagon with a gleefull expression. To him, it only made sense that the Paladin be put up front. The dinner was filling, Niki helping clean up and wash dishes as the situation would allow him to do so. Pleasant conversation was easy to come by, but Nikioli felt that their boss was not totally upfront with what they are doing.

Sleep was fitful for Nicki, he wasnt totally used to the forest and the noises that came from within. Dropping off into sleep finally after his watch, he was already into the better part of his dreams, totally oblivious as to what was going on around him.

[Private to Nickoli Grundecci: Giving you an initiative of 5 post actions when you can]

Round 1

Clair calls upon her diety and every one feels blessed in the light of Tymora, just as 3 more arrows enter the camp from 3 different directions. One nicks Clair seconds to late to stop her prayer (for 1). The second hits and sticks into krees boots (doing 0). The third catches the creeping crouching Bruga in the side finding a gap in his armor somehow (for 3!). Kree now spots 3 goblins with rudementary bows, noticing that the arrows are crude, but having seen the hit on Bruga he knows they are still able to hurt.

Actions now for Round 2 (you only learned at the end of round 1 where these guys are) You may now attack the three goblins you see.

[Private to Bruga Honeyfinder: While 3 points is not deadly by any means it sure does hurt (being that you only had 6 hp) You may wish to seek attention for healing rather then continuing your sneaking (they rolled a 20, 3 points is their max damage lol)]

Clair moves foward and with a power unknown to her she crushes the goblin to the ground killing it instantly. The goblin in the middle takes an arrow from Senuviel, Kree's first arrow finds purchase in the knee of the goblin Senuviel hit, the goblin collaspses bleeding out, Kree then moves his aim to the last goblin and with 2 arrows kills him. The area becomes quiet now... the goblins liedead. No other goblins in plain site. The arrows stop, no othe goblins or anything else come out to attack the group. the battle it seems for now is over.

From behind them a familiar gruff voice says "So I see I am paying you for something after all." It is Astar back from wherever he had gone.

on the Goblins Kree will find:

5 Silver
23 Copper

Crude daggers, crude bows, and crudely made arrows, nothing of real value but the coin.

unshething his  dirk, Kree will score the arrow  about 3 inches  above the wound, then break it off. As he  works on the arrow, he asksdid you see our  employe while  you where in the  trees?

As he talks, he take  the  dirk and cuts, very gently, right next to the wound arown the  arrow..he tucks  little, the cuts allowing the  arrow head to come free more easily, with less damage. As  quick  as he is able, Kree cuts  a strip from his  cape  to wind around the  wound, that should hold  until we get you to the  wagon.

Helping  Bruga  to the  wagon, he  will stand  watch  as someone with a bit more  skill can patch him up, then wait a bit  until the  wagon begins to roll, slipping into the trees to become the rear  guard  once more.

Both henchman however quite suddenly have the same feeling Bruga did and collaspe to the ground snoring away, Astar seems unaffected.

Khorden ignores the feeble attack by the henchmen, barely even notices that the henchmen has swooned.  Instead, he focuses on Astar, his dander up by the mans betrayal of them.  He presses the attack, his first stroke again scoring a hit upon Astar's tender flesh, though his follow up stroke is far less well placed.

She casts Command on ASter to Die near the end of the round after Senuviel attacks so the effect lasts long enough for Khorden and Senuviel to get a hack at him in there normal init next round while he is laying on the ground in either a faint or cataleptic state plus he he maybe she can get a swing at him too :)

Kree walks up and puts his sword into the neck of the sleeping henchmen who breaths no more.

Clair casts her spell at Astar he hears the Command and merely growls at her (saved)  and Khorden manages to smack one of his two hits on Astar for 4, his second attack swings wide.

Senuviel swings in but Astar manages to just move out of the way of his blade.

Henchman 1 is dead, Henchman 2 is sleeping.

With the people advancing on him Astar pulls the rope a rather vicious dog now released in the wagon. (Gosric Initiative please.) He laughs and smiles as the dwarf scrapes him, it is then the dwarf realizes something is wrong here, his hit should have done more then it did.

"DO you think I cam unprepared elf?!" Astar laughs almost maniacally now. He grasps an amulet from around his neck and throws it to Kree's feet. There is a huge flash of light. Astar is gone, the wagon remains, as does the single living henchman and a living dog about to have dinner. The party has no way to the inside of the wagon of which they are aware (Kree saw it open, but not how to open it.)

Frantically trying to hold the dog off more than actually attacking it, Gosric swings his manacled arms at it.  Perhaps his panic gives him strength, for the swing connects heavily with the dog's side.  With the irons around his wrists adding weight and solidity, one of the beast's ribs can be heard to crack.

The henchman prisoner can not talk but does indicate when you have moved far away enough from the wagon. The wagon explodes in a rather large ball of fire the horses even more spooked now dash off now long gone.

The Dog is cured and licks Clair's face in thanks it's ears twitch and it sits still even through the explosion, it's ears twitch again and it dashes into the underbrush there are sounds of a scuffle and it then comes back carrying two rabbits it gingerly drops one at Clair's feet and then moves slightly aside to eat the other.

Khorden's quite surprised as the wagon explodes.  He'd not expected anything to spectacular, not even sure if the mute fellow knew of of what he... didn't speak.

Seeing the dog that Khorden had gone through pains to rescue is now beholden to Clair, he grumbles a bit in a good-natured fashion.  "That be gratitude fer ye."

Hearing Clair's comments about the fellow who names himself Alvair, he looks the man over closely.  "I'll take on th' job o' keepin' an eye on him."  In truth, Khorden isn't sure that there's much need, the man seems harmless enough and quite eager to be out of the service of that dratted mage.  He makes sure to collect the weapons that Alvair had set aside.

"With this Astar fellow gone, what be th' plan?  Old friends aside, I was hopin' t' put a bit o' coin in me pouch an' that seems t' not be in th' works now."

He gets up and says Just so there's no misunderstanding, I'm going to pat you down and does so. Please stand he says, and he checks from the waist on down. (Assuming) All clean, unless he's something in his boots. (Bruga leaves any coins the man may have in his possession.)

Khorden my friend, I will be more then happy to give you my cut from the dead henchman and if you like we can play some cards and I will snic give you a chance to win some coin off of me and anyone else wishing to join in a game or three tonight when we rest.

Sighs, Alvair, understand once we have moved off from here I will need you to honestly describe your role with Astar and to give any help you can to us so we can use it to damage his operation looks to Kree, as you can see, your quick surrender and helping hand in saving our friend has saved your life, smiles now the more good honest help you give us the easier it will be for me to convince my fellow friends that you have played out your hand from the past and are playing the new hand we have dealt for you looks intently at Alvair that is if you wish to truly help us and denounce you past ways  chuckles, now I am not trying to convert you over to my lady's ways all together but she does truly help those who need it.

Now let's move out of here I guess back to Lotan.  Unless we can get more help from Cabain  Absently pets the dog again.

Gosric rubs his wrists, then pulls his sack of supplies-luckily pulled from the wagon before it exploded :)-up off the ground and pulls out his still shiny splint mail.  Gazing into it, he lets out a loud groan and turns on the mute henchman.

"My hair, you dumb ox, its so.... greasy!!!  I'll never get this washed out. followed by a happy sigh; "Well, I guess the jokes on you anyway.  I would have been the laziest, most uncooperative slave you ever met!"  He starts to rummage through the bag, pulling out his supplies and placing them about his person, all the while mumbling something about 'stupid dad and his stupid adventure'.

Alvair will shrug about the where abouts of the slaves. He raises his chin towards clair and she can see a stilletto slit it would appear the man's vocal chords were pierced, then healed in such a way not to fix the voice.

[Private to Clair Brandywhine: Healing this is beyond your ability, you would need a "Heal" spell, perhaps one of the priests at yours or Gosric's church could do so, for a fee.]

Seemingly besides their weapons and simple armor, neither Alvair or the dead henchman carried anything of actual value. The wreckage of the wagon provides no clues.

Well, upon a time a lone stranger...like to an elf but not an elf...sojourned in our village. Wonderful tales he'd tell of far-away strangeness. He was fond of saying, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." He'd pause and then add, "But sometimes the needs of the few—or the one—outweigh the needs of the many." I've been not much, and you've been kind ot me....and I don't have any particular needs now anyway. I say we go with Kree.

"Hey, hey, you!  You wanted someone to heal your vocal cords?  I can do it, if you want."  Seeing the grime on the man's skin, he almost regrets making the offer, but offers a silent prayer to Lathander.

OOC depends on the outcome of the "hunt" to what she and snare bring back

Clair returns soon (with/without food from the hunt) and helps with breakfast, eating and cleaning up.  Making sure to feed Snare a hopefully good breakfast.

Turns to Alvair, Alvair, turning you in is the easiest to do, but I feel that will not get much accomplished for either of us other then you being hung by the neck till dead.  heck, even if the law does not do it, Astar's cronies will. Sighs, well the other option, to heal you up, will cost coin, which, unless you have stashed somewhere, you do not have.  Either me or Gosric could find out how much it costs but for our efforts, we would need more then a silent reply.

Honestly, I would give us enough information to make us go with the heal route as Lady Luck Tymora would say (she touches her holy symbol) let the outcome be the dice rolling on the table.  Shrugs, if you choose your fate differently by staying silent, I will have no choice but to let Kree escort you in to the authorities with a nonchalant grin that passes to Kree and back to Alvair.

Kree Crouches near the dog  when they  take a rest. He looks the dog over..he puts his  hand out  slowly, with his plam up . He  talks soothingly to DSnare, but  still has the firmness couched in his voice.

When  Snare puts up his  paw  to shake, Kree gives  the paw  a gentle pump, then takes  the time  to study the paw...Look here...at this  paw... he says  to Clair. he  lets that paw  loose, holding out the other hand. when Snare lifts  up the same paw, he chuckles  and says,"..no other one.."  and  taps the  beastoes other shoulder. When that paw comes up  he studies it as well. After letting the second paw  down, He  pats the dogs head and stading,..It  would seem..Snare  has been trained  for hunting. The obvious sign is his luck with the rabbits. But look athis  paws, they are well padded  from trips into  the trees, and fileds , i would say. Guard  dogs  tend  to have  the  front claws broken and jagged, from puling on the chain and  such...I am thinking, Next time  we make  camp. Clair  and I take  him into  the trees a space, and see if he  will track on command....alos? If  the Wee Beastie was a pet of   a Woodsman, there is  a good chance they taught him to watch, or guard...we will have top experiment. He seems overy bright  for a slaver dog...We killed many  of thier dogs, that were just mindless beasts , that werre used to chase down runaways. or help devour  corpses...
