Re: Route from Lotan to Cabain

The henchmen simply kneels and points at the amulet Astar threw on the ground tossing his weapon on the ground and indicating his surrender, he seems unable to talk. Khorden walks up to the wagon attempts to whack the wagon with his sword, the weapon doesn't even make a scratch on the wagons surface. The henchman again points to the amulet and remains in his kneeling position making no hostile moves.

Re: Route from Lotan to Cabain

Frantically trying to hold the dog off more than actually attacking it, Gosric swings his manacled arms at it.  Perhaps his panic gives him strength, for the swing connects heavily with the dog's side.  With the irons around his wrists adding weight and solidity, one of the beast's ribs can be heard to crack.

11:00, Today: Gosric the Full rolled 18 using 1d20-2. Attacking the dog.
11:02, Today: Gosric the Full rolled 3 using 1d4. Damage (critical hit).
Double damage from critical hit= 6 points of damage.

Clair goes to the amulet and picks it up, looks at it and asks the henchmen, is it activated by a word - waits for a nod yes or no, if no does it need to be placed in part of the wagon again waits for a yea or nay nod.

Re: Route from Lotan to Cabain

The dog inside yelps in pain but lives biting Gosric for 2, then backing out of his reach before collasping to the floor of the wagon, not dead but badly hurting.

The henchman nods no, then yes to Clair, he is again making no hostile movements kneeling on the ground weapon thrown away. He makes a sign towards the amulet, teh wagon, himself then Khorden. You might think he is asking if he can do it under the gaurd of the dwarf.

Khorden gives the mute henchmen a nod.  As the man rises and moves towards the wagon, the Dwarf falls in behind him with his sword ready to cut the fellow into garters at the first wrong move.

Re: Route from Lotan to Cabain

The henchman picks up the amulet and moves to the rear of the wagon he places the amult into the concave hole that kree had found there is a click and the back of the wagon slowly begins to open, the henchman makes a sign as you should hurry makes big gesture like an explosion before backing up as far as Khorden and Clair will let him, he again kneels in surrender making no hostile moves.

The wagon is open the dog appears near dead, likely going to bleed out in the next round, Gosric a rather familiar face to you, is tied up and chained to the back, it will take you a full 2 rounds to release him.

Question is, do you wish to save the dog as well?

Re: Route from Lotan to Cabain

Gosric frantically pulls at the chains, trying to keep his foot between the dog and him.  "You have to free me!!  You have to!!"  Panic had blinded his reason and concern for the animal.  It takes him a moment to recognize the faces; "Thank Lathander, please, untie me."

Re: Route from Lotan to Cabain

"Keep an eye on that one." he nods at the helpful henchman and then pulls out on of his trusty daggers to see about cutting Gosric free.

If and when the human is free, Khorden will drag the dog out also, if it seems he can do so without getting bit or otherwise getting injured.

OOC:  I'm a little unclear, I thought that Gosric was secured with manacles, which I assume means chains, but asking to be untied leans more to a quick swipe with a dagger.  Either way, Khorden will do his best to free "the Full".

Kree, now now lets get Gosric out fast and yes the dog if we can, I have one heal spell left I can use on the dog.

Turns to the henchman, I will speak for you and your helping us, fear not and please do not run away.

Bruga and Senuviel please watch this man here while I help get Goseric and the dog out.  Make sure he lets us know when we have gotten far enough away.  He can not talk.

Re: Route from Lotan to Cabain

Bruga looks around; the scene gives him enough information for now, so he's able to make sense of Clair's request. Using words and gestures, he gets the prisoner to sit with legs out front. Reassuring him that nothing will happen if he just sits there, Bruga takes a foot in his lap, pulls out a dagger, and holds it under the ankle tendon. Let me know when this becomes uncomfortable. You can switch legs.

Re: Route from Lotan to Cabain

(no need to roll for dog cures)

The henchman prisoner can not talk but does indicate when you have moved far away enough from the wagon. The wagon explodes in a rather large ball of fire the horses even more spooked now dash off now long gone.

The Dog is cured and licks Clair's face in thanks it's ears twitch and it sits still even through the explosion, it's ears twitch again and it dashes into the underbrush there are sounds of a scuffle and it then comes back carrying two rabbits it gingerly drops one at Clair's feet and then moves slightly aside to eat the other.

In reply to GM (msg #153):

Clair give the new found (I hope) friendly (dog) a good scratch behind the ear before he ran off to get the rabbits but then will again give him (assume male) another good scratching AFTER he is done with his rabbit talking in a nice soothing voices of praise.  She takes the other rabbit and gets help gutting it and making it ready for eating/travel while the dog is eating his rabbit.

Ha, that fire is good enough to cook this rabbit with but I think we need to make haste now that we have made enemies of Aster and lost the horses.

Calls the dog to her and will absently pet him while she asks the group about the henchman.  He has helped us when he could have run or fought us.  Looks to the Henchman, sorry I do not know your name, can you write? can you write it in the dirt?  I'd rather like to call you by your given name.

Turns to the group, What of his crimes in the past may have been, he has at least amended for something helping us and Lady Luck always likes to play chance and bestow good fortunes on all that she can with the right roll of the dice.  I say he accompany us back as a guarded guest and not a prisoner all tied up and hopefully we can get his story out to make a better call for him along the way.  Of course, weaponless and a close eye on him would be best for now.  Absently pets the dog, smiles at he dog, man I have to figure a name for you or turns to the henchman, does he have a name?

Re: Route from Lotan to Cabain

The henchman writes in the sand "Alvair" when asked his name and shakes his head no when asked about the dog. Alvair nods positively when Clair suggests moving on, and the dog is yes friendly and Kree would note well trained as a hunting dog or war companion, as it did not flinch at the explosion, and caught 2 rabbits without much problem.
