In reply to Khorden Stonegrip (msg #13):

The king tosses the arrow on the table, So, tell me, this finely wrought arrow belongs to one of you.  correct.  leans back, and the harbor master says your group was investigating the wharehouses yesterday  pauses in thought, before all the trouble started.

Looks to the mage, time is wasting, just get there full names. The mage hisses under her breath but looks to the group to complete her task.  The king then looks to the Leather clad man.  Now easy, an ear is not needed.

Looks to the Dwarf, once your names have been spoken and written down, you will know the severity of which you are charged.

OOC - Kree, one of your nicer arrows lays upon the table, though the feathers are slightly damaged.

Clair Brandywhine, priest of Tymora,
smiles at your service.

The elf looks at the arrow  and frowns,  Kree, Quickshadow...The arrow  is mine. It was last fired at someone...or  something..that was attacking us. We cleared one  wharehouse of ....rather large...rats...found evidence  of slavery activity in another...and the third we were attacked...our..portly companion took a poisoned  dart  there...we never  did get to enter, as some of our  party ran off,..so we decieded to take a better look around...the only thing i can see us charged with,  is Hunting evil, since  it was the harbormaster, who was paying us to clear the  buildings....

...and...i would have  my arrow  back...seems those who handled it, do not know how to care  for  such a weapon....

One of the porters who had been filling your glasses and serving food, takes Kree's arrow and hands it to the mage.   She looks it over, smiles and says Kree, this will do for you and places it on the table next to the parchment with his info on it.

The man in Plate hurumphs impatiently and gets up and turn to the King, This is taking too long, with your leave sire,  looks at Clair Clair, young lady, you we think are the defacto leader or at least one of the main players chuckles, lucky you you get to come with me.  Indicates for her to get up and move.

Clair hesitates looking frightened then jumps when the mage speaks her name, Clair child move.  She gets up not of her own accord and walks out with the man in Plate, looking back once or twice.

The man in Leathers looks on then turns to the rest around the table. Speak your names and info as requested so we can get on with it.

OOC - Bruga, Kree and Goseric have spoken.  All that is left is Khorden, Senuviel  and Keneally.   what will they do?

Re: The Castle of Lotan

Senuviel stands up and speaks in a clear and proud tone. I am named Senuviel Merelantos Alantir, son of Aurik Alantir and Istariel Merelantos. My father being a former Captain of the Elvish Royal Guard and head of House Protector, responding to the king himself Silvanos the Golden Eyed. My mother is a retired priestess of the Blue Phoenix as this is how we call the God of Healing in our nation. I have seen more than a hundred winters already and I assure you I bear no distinctive markings upon myself but the color of my eyes that may be strange to you short living people. I was born here in Lotan but I've been away for almost 80 years, I've just returnes after finishing my training in the elvish court. I'm skilled and trained in both swordmanship and magic and I have attached myself to this group - who has shown their mutual and individual values more than once - to escort some sort of caravan to a neighboring city. During our travel we found out we've been deceived by our employer, a dark elf (that's how we call traitors in our race) named Astar who was in fact a slaver. We communicated the powers that be in Lotan and continued in our errands until we met evidence of slavery again and were attacked by unidentified people. Unfortunately we quarreled amongst ourselves and had a disagreement of sorts as you all have come to know about. And here we are gentlemen and ladies, dealing with burocracy and discussing whether an arrow shot at an enemy is the cause of all this nuisance while people in Lotan are being kidnapped and sold by slavers right under our very noses.

After his brief record of the facts, Senuviel bows to the people in the room and says:

I guess I gave you all the information I could in the best way possible. If so, this humble servant asks for his leaving.

Khorden was finding things rather not to his liking.  These folk had set upon them, ordered their weapons set aside, had used some sort of foul magick upon Clair and were generally lacking in manners.  Khorden feels quite an urge to teach them their manners.  "And what is the it you wish to get on with?  Are we being accused of something  and if so, what?"  He crossed his broad arms across his even broader chest.

Gostric shakes his head sadly in despair at the disrespect being shown to the king.

"Khorden, we know what they are accusing us of, and to one degree or another we are all guilty. If their interest was in summary justice and our demise, we would not now be sitting in front of His Majesty Himself, may his reign last forever.
"Clearly they have some reason for offering us a chance at redemption, and I, for one, would like to know what it is. Please don't change their mind before we get a chance to hear what they have to say. It's too early in the morning to die.

The King sits back in his chair, chuckles lively and watches the goings on of the group then looks to theMage and man in leathers.

The man in leathers laughs, turns to the mage, my dear, you cast an evil vial spell upon that poor wretched creature, how ashamed you should be.

She looks hard at the man in leathers, smiles so be it, we shall continue when our man in plate returns.

Looks to the party, yes, you are all accused of something, I can only say it after I have all of your names and info.  taps the parchment and Leans back, sighs, and no it is not a spell to be used on you.  More record keeping and waves her hands and other things of state.

You hear the man in Plate walking back.

OOC only Keneally remains to be heard from.

Re: The Castle of Lotan

The elf's eyes shifted  from one person , then the other, including the King. The woman seemed the least offensive of the group thus  far, and he directed  his question towards her,  My Dwarven Friend  and  I, have seen more then enough cover ups in the  Tendays or so...you add that to what i have learned, doing my ....craft...you will understand why we take it baddly, that those of power, choose to make sport of people, who have taken up the mantle  , to mete out Justice, to those of  evil ilk....I would stand  with  Good Khorden, as his mind  and heart, are steeled to the task, and  not sullied by teachings of gods, who care not, what happenes to those  who walk the realms...at least, the gods  i follow, take some hand  in the goings  on, of those, who follow them..

He looks to the Lady Holy warrior  , then back to those  who hold them prisoner,...Perhaps the Good LAdy is ashamed, that she was brought here thus...Perhaps..she is more ashamed , of being  lumped in with  people such as myself...so...get on with this...and she may answer, when she feels the courage to do so....

The man on plate returns, drops the wharehouse keys you got from the harbor master on the table the looks to Keneally, Maylady, it is time for you to come with me to repureafy yourself and purge yourself of any ill smiles kindly to her, your role now is to re acclaim your beliefs and steadfast devotion.  Your companions run their own fate and if they hold true will be fine. He holds out a small piece of paper and shows it to Keneally.  She looks at it then at the group.  My destiny is my god and order, looks to the man in plate on your word you will hold true to it that if they do run the path of goodness and prove themselves true you will allow me to decide my fate with them again.  The man in plate nods, My word.  and you see him pull out a holy symbol from under his plate armor matching Keneally's.

I must go, be true as you have shown me and all will be right  Longingly looks at Goseric, take care of them, yourself and we shall meet anew.  Gets up and follow the man in plate out.

The man in Leather looks about, geesh he is getting his exercise today

The king looks about, OK then, I think we can get started now.

OOC - end of act 1 scene 1.  Tomorrow I will post the reason and for the adventure begins - sorry got late way to on me to finish.

Re: The Castle of Lotan

In reply to Clair Brandywhine (msg #26):

The man in Plate comes back again, hurmphs at the Mage and sits down.  The king stands and pulls out a scroll, opens it and reads it.

Your group, ah what ever you like to call yourself have been accused of, adjusts the scroll Murder, Arson, Burglary, Cannibalism, Theft, Kidnapping, aggravated assault, littering and damaging the eco system.   Looks up err sealing in that fire drake, what were you thinking...

Puts the scroll down and looks at each one of you.  That is the short of it.

The man in Leathers chuckles, all in a days work.  Now, What I   the Mage interrupts him, I, you mean us the man in plate caughs arhum
Don't you mean his majesty   The man in Leathers continues with a bit of a frown on his face.  OK, where was I oh yea, HIS majesty just accuses you and really does not think the time needed for a lengthy and out right boring trial is best suited at this state of affairs we are in.

The mage continues over him (you see a scowl cross the man in leathers face) His majesty and this council would much rather see resources put to better use, and since you are only accused of these heinous crimes we thought to give you all a chance to redeem yourself and prove you are not as you seem being accused of acting like accused and    The man in Plate interrupts her (the mage looks quickly to the man in Plate, not to happily but relieved.  Though now the man in Leathers has a grin on his face) Mages, what we are looking for you to do is complete a quest, return an "item" stolen back to us and by doing this in good faith we will burn that record and erase any thought of what is on it.  Do not return to us, and

The king calmly interrupts the man in Plate (who does not make any faces) by returning this item, you prove your innocents and regain your good standing plus well, save the life of your dear sweet Priest and your Paladin friend Keneally.     The man in Leathers finishes, Do not return and they die and I er we hunt you down and well ..

The Mage gets up at this point and rolls out the Parchment scroll, it has all your names and any extra info to. Puts a pen and ink well by it.  Sign this to accept our sent ... decision in this matter  Shrugs, else sighs we will have to go through a lengthy and boring trial.

She waits for you all to either sign it or not.

As for all this, I wold think you would prefer to rule over a free people who value honor over cowardice.

The Elf  laughs as the charges are read. I hope, By Tymora's  Dice, and Beshaba's Breasts, the whom ever  wrote those  charges, are not as witeless as it sounds!

He points to the  scroll ,none of those charges  can be laid on us...Cannibals...gods...and sealing a firedrake? It sealed itself...one would think we would get rewarded for that...not added it to some of those...ludicrus  charges...if you want help....and it appears you NEED help..all you would have to do is ask...or advertise...not follow through this ....farce...

Standing  as he leans  over the table  , his eyes  looking at the parchment,...whether the item is  found...and  brought back..has little  to do with  us....you folks lost something..and now you are trying to bully , good  folk into doing your job....

Taking up the pen, he stares at them all..lastly the King. I sign my name, to do the work, that you have failed to do...but...if harm comes to Clair? You best hope i die in the undertaking...Vengence is my line of  work...and  i am not only good  at it...i enjoy it...My people will hear of this  as well...I am thinking, you do not  want an angry nation of elven archers looking your way...

As  an after thought he adds as he writes,..The  Lady Holy  Warrior is  quite unknown to me...she was barely with us..and the little that she was? she  spent more time fretting  about the foes, then her friends...I am thinking she would fight in , right nice  with you folks....But  Clair  is the Voice of reason, with out being cowardly, or frightened...   dropping the pen on the Table for anyone who wishes  to sign next he adds,...and...i would have my arrow back now....

The king and his council just sit back and watch and wait.  You get no reactions from them and you do recall from stories and such that a kings court area like this should be very busy with a lot of hustle and bustle.

The only ones moving about are the 4 serving men/porters.  Even the guards that brought you in seemed to have melted away.

OOC so far 2 have signed, one has opted for trial (by fire) and 2 are yet to decide.  Oh where has the time gone.  hhmm I am late for an important date :)

Senuviel makes a great effort not to burst into laughs. He walks towards the table looks at all the people there, grabs the quill and with a crooked smile moves to sign the paper, halting at the very moment the point of the quill touches the paper. Let me see if I got this right. Says the warrior/mage. I am supposed to sign this paper which says I agree on going on this fantastic errand of yours and in exchange you pretend nothing happened and you'll just forget all the absurd accusations we've been charged of, right?

Senuviel lets the quill drop.

Thanks, but no. Senuviel smiles. You're smart fellows, aren't you? You accuse us of things we haven't done then blackmail us by keeping our friend with you and promising not to hurt her and then to make it even more fantastic you put us on blade's edge by offering a job to recover an "item" that probably doesn't even exist.

Senuviel gives a concerned look at his companions and then turns his eyes to the powers that be on the other side of the table.

You're sending us to our deaths. I choose neither the trial nor the errand. I renounce this city and its people and everything I have here in this city but my sword and my book of spells. I prefer to take my chances on the exile!

Saying this, Senuviel turns his back to the people on the table.

In reply to Khorden Stonegrip (msg #33):

As the two Senevial and Khorden move about the table they do notice that there is other areas and tables, doors, possibly hidden doors and such.  Also, there is a nice fat scroll tube by the kings chair, a sack, and a potion bottle.  Oh, and Snare sitting by your pile of weapons.

The mage frowns at the latest turn of events, the man in Leathers rubs his hands together in apparent glee while the man in Plate just shakes his head.

The king stands, looks to the group, 3 for trial, 2 for service to the crown hhmm.  Think we are fools, unlawful and desperate?  I have heard your words, read your faces, felt your emotions and wonder where I went wrong with your group.

Well, pulls out the rather large fat scroll, and starts reading On this day hence forth (today's date) I the king with council dually took upon the lawful .... blah blah balh

While he reads all three council members are listening to him but the porters have begun moving any uneaten food or undrunk drink while one of them takes and places the arrow in Krees hands, muttering in a whisper That Bruga and Senuviel over hear, Khorden and Goseric are on the other side of the table and all you hear is the king rattling on about due process of law, due process of accusations, due process of rights of the accused and so forth and so on though you see the porter hand Kree the arrow and lean in to him but nothing more.

... herby declare that a trial shall ensue if by last rights, all party's agree to stand forth in judgment from this council.

The king sites, the female mage takes the signed paper and looks to the group.  Kree and Goseric have chosen the service to the king while Bruga, Khorden and Senuvial have chosen a trial.  looks to the group again, Clair and Keneally are fated by your actions and/or outcome.  Take a moment to decide among yourselves - stay as a group and be on trial, go as a group on this service or be separated, some on trial while other in service.

The king and his 3 council members get up from the table.  The man in Plate states you have 10 minutes to decide and the man in leathers chuckles and do not stray form this table.   as they move to the Kings audience chair you do note extra foot shuffling sounds all around you.  You think the kings guard has come back.

The  elf  nods to the  man , he says something  quietly to him.

Looking at his  companions he waves them to  come  closer, tapping the arrow against his leg, like a horseofficer  would do a riding crop. when they are  close to gether he says..quietly as he may,..As  i have  said before, the  woman holy warrior matters not  to me. these folk are more her type then mine, let her see if she likes being stewed in her own broth. However..Clair  is one of us...we needs get her out, or, delay what is happening  , until she, herself, finds  a way to escape....

He offers his arrow to Senuviel, look how the fools treated my arrow...how can anyone trust someone, who cannot care for a goodly shaft...Look at the fletchings!  as he hands the arrow to senuviel, his finger  points  , quickly, to somehting on the shaft.

I say we take the service...perhaps  i can find  someone out there, to place the  arrow into!
