Re: CCO

Hello world

I boldly assume that this CCO thread is an out-of-character thread.

Under that assumption I greet you all.

When I was a student I played quite some ADnD. One month ago I was asked to come up with a short adventure as an example play for a group of people that were intrigued
by the name (and the occurrence of roleplaying in the big bang theory).
After enjoying the preparations for this game and while playing; I noticed I missed
playing this game. After some googling and PM-ing with the GM ... here I am.

I'm really looking forward to strap on a backpack and hit adventurous roads with you.

<while raising a beer>
here's to our future !

Re: CCO

In reply to Bruga Honeyfinder (msg # 847):

A very merry holidays though belated for some but a new year is upon us soon - I will a lot you all good cheer with more experience points by the time the bell tolls a dozen and 1.

Plus I was thinking about posting experience points based on number of posts related to the action/round.  Something like 10 exp per post when related to the characters action for that round and possible bonus exp for more quality interaction posts besides the action post :)   I do not want to slight anyone not being able to post or post much so I will average out the exp points earned per action and allot that as a minimum to all even if you did not post an action or only could give a simple one so everyone is earning something.

Sound good or just wait for experience when you finish a section?
Please note, characters level are not a high need, just good to keep moving up as you encounter tougher foes :)

Sound out "yea" or "nay" or "give it a try and see what happens" or "no way what are you thinking??"

Re: CCO

I looked at my games for that  as well.. I  would  cut  out OOC threads.

Its hard to  use the quality  judgement  for points?.. But  I do  try to make  my players  do more then one  liners ( thought  , some tie s  dirunbg an action, it is  quick)

I do most of the rolls off board..My space  game, I use my own , simple, system.. and  I use  mods for Abiltities...Spheres.. and   RP counts big...

If  a Guy says, " I turn  my fighters  and shoot at the bad guy"..it doesn't get  the RP  Mod, that a  guy would say...."..  feeling the  Pusle   round  hit the portside  wing,  Ace   truns to the starboard , trying to Getv on the  Tail of the Demon who  chewed him up.. he   sees the  sights   Fil with the  Demon's  cockpit  and Pulls the  trigger of his Gatling Cannon"

gets a few Mods   for that, ebcause  he  described his turna.. and where he was aiming
...............

In the end? its  Not about   XPs  for me.. I'm here for the RP , and  the folks I have been gamign with , all these years.

Re: CCO

Combat is difficult to describe. I seldom write long posts, but I do post promptly.

I posted:
Bruga wakes up conscious that he's feeling marginally better. After eating etc, he's ready to set to work on excavating...after he checks on how others are doing.

 I could post:

The sturdy halfling stirs in his sleep, his unconscious helping his body ease b y his nicks and scratches. One eye opens and encounters the clear light of a sun-bathed day...even if it's little cooler. He decides, in view of the work he's laid out for himself, to rise and stretch even though playing slug-a-bed feels appealing. ...

Maybe I could find a happy medium, or maybe others prefer one of the two above renderings.

Re: CCO

I'm of the idea that good rp is it's own reward. And there is always the risk of having people get upset or frustrated because of feeling misjudged. I'd suggest you don't implement that. If anything, reward players you like with consequences for his actions. Be more lenient on a charisma roll to the one that was eloquent on his speech, or have the rogue player who very carefully described how he was sneaking into the enemy camp succeed even if he was a few off the required roll.

Re: CCO

I always  you my space  gae  as  my example, ebcause its been successful, and  active... In Jan, it  will be 8 years..closing in on 77k posts.

using my system, there is enough  character building to make  Charcter  growth in  numbers  as well  as , is , how the  charcter  is seen..

you can't  Min/max..in my game.. you can only play your character  as  you want them to be...never any  'right' or 'wrong' moves.. actions   drive of  change the  direction of Plots lines.. plot lines  are missed..some are chreated..meanwhile?.. the game world  keeps  moving, whether  we are there or not... charcters  can die if they are rash ebough.

But as Bark said?... There is nothing better  then good  RP.. the numbers? are  for Video GAmes.... you still need  numbers  for a  frame  work, or  it  becomes 100% free form, and that's never good.
