Kal Wennyn:
I will throw my vote at Option 4. I'm good with either. And that's not an apathetic 'option 4' either. I'm excited by both possibilities.
Thanks Kal! Your vote has been tallied..! ;)
Mirax Bey:
Honestly there's not a whole lot of *substance* to the Mandos in the EU even, and I think that's where more recent additions kinda went wrong. They were a Warrior Culture that valued honor, and 'the way' or whatever you wish to call it. Or, well, are. They follow the Mandalore, provided the Mandalore has earned the right to be followed. They're a surly bunch though, and while they are a warrior culture, warriors aren't the only thing they value. Farmers, mechanics, etc, everyone has a trade - they just all also know to take up the sword if needed.
For me in particular, if we go with the Mando game, I'll be drawing on some history of the Supercommandos and their Codex for my character. Mandalore of around 60BBY was Jaster Mereel, who founded them and tried to bring back the 'old ways', which I think was where the Death Watch came into prominence? I dunno.
Either way, you're fine to get creative however you like honestly, you know what we're doing!
Oh, and I'd be on board with former clones being brought on board. There's precedence in a number of cases, so it could be fun!
I agree, there wasn't much around even back then. The books held more information, and even that was a glimmer here and there.
I'd accept any type of character that can fit in around RotJ's timeline. That's where I'd like to take off actually, but I might slide it a bit earlier or later. I'd also be starting the politics from scratch, so you might not see the same people that the Wikis are pointing to...
For example, I don't like the schism as they've played out between Pacifists regime that came to power at the end of these wars, led by Duchess Satine Kryze, while those who refused to give up their warrior ways were exiled to the moon Concordia.
Time Line wise:

No Mando History from 1000BBY to 40BBY - 960 YEARS of Nothing
Pre-Clone Wars Era
(Which I'm likely going to DELETE from our Campaign)
- 40 BBY - Mandalorian Civil War; Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi are tasked to protect Satine Kryze, leader of the pacifist New Mandalorians.
- 36 BBY Ahsoka Tano is born on Shili.
- 34 BBY Crix Madine is born on Corellia.
- 32 BBY By this point, Wilhuff Tarkin had become the Governor of Eriadu with backing from Sheev Palpatine, Senator of Naboo and secretly the Sith Lord Darth Sidious.
- Han is born on Corellia.
- Boba Fett is born, a clone of Jango Fett on Kamino.
- Nute Gunray ascends to the position of the Viceroy of the Trade Federation and appoints his allies to powerful positions within the Federation.
- Padmé Naberrie defeats the isolationist Queen of Naboo Sanandrassa in an election for the throne. Naberrie is coronated during the Day of Ascendancy; The monarch adopts Amidala as her regal name.
- Trade Federation blockades Naboo in protest of the Senate's decision to tax their much-used Free Trade Zones, escalating the trade disputes;
- Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum secretly dispatches Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi to serve as the ambassadors for scheduled negotiations with the Federation in hopes of resolving the Naboo Crisis.
- Invasion of Naboo; Darth Sidious further manipulates the Trade Federation leadership into instigating a peace crisis for the Republic with the deployment of military forces for the occupation of the harmonious world of Naboo.
More fluff Leading to the Clone Wars.. blah blah.. let's face it, Mando History is relatively forgotten and unexplored above, and I'm not keen about anything from Nute Gunray onward, include the following:
Clone Wars (22–19 BBY)
When the Clone Wars breaks out, the New Mandalorian Government declared that their world, the Outer Rim world Mandalore, would remain neutral.[6] Under the leadership of Duchess Satine Kryze, Mandalore became the leader of the Council of Neutral Systems.
So to summarize, Mandalore was already a baren rock by the time the Mandalorian-Jedi war happened (let's say it was near 1000BBY ish), but it was worsened in the war to actually forcing Mando cities to be: Domed in order to be protected from the toxic atmosphere.
Then 960 years go by with NOTHING, and suddenly there's a New Mandalore Pacifist government that decides they're neutral in the clone wars?? And they have the clout to be the central leadership on the Council of Neutral Systems!? Ugh...
Seeing as there is 960 YEARS of nothing after the Jedi Mandalorian war, there's a HUGE vacuum to expand on. To say that the New Pacifists take control of Mandalore and put all the warriors on Concordia makes no sense to me.
Then the EMPIRE Happens... which is the era we all love, I think.
I'm tempted to insert our campaign somewhere in here, and delete the prequels from my databanks:
- 19 BBY - The Sith Empire is restored as the Republic is reorganized into the First Galactic Empire by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine—secretly the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious—who declares himself Galactic Emperor and restrains the powers of the new Imperial Senate.
- the
Shadow Collective Empire eventually takes over of Mandalore (how is irrelevant); the Mandalorian civil war erupts Anti-Empire Movement Starts. - 0 BBY - Battle of Yavin - The 1st Death Star is destroyed by the Rebel Alliance.
- Galactic Civil War—after the Battle of Yavin (0–4 ABY) Which leads to:
- New Republic Era (5–34 ABY)
