Re: Episode 1: The Search for Luke Skywalker Begins

Mi was a little shocked at seeing the Neimoidian flying toward him even as he disappeared from sight.   The instant that within the deepest parts of his being he felt that he was unseen by his opponents he could feel the blood lust rising in his body.   His race loved the kill when they were not being seen, it was engrained into their very being that was the time to strike.

He forced himself to focus on the potential to end this fight before too much harm was done to his team.  Even as Findos was coming down Mi was moving using the advantage of being unseen to fuel his attack.  His aim was to cripple one of Findos' limbs to make their point of shutting down the droids.

Re: Episode 1: The Search for Luke Skywalker Begins

Findos lands rather abruptly on the ground next to Mi, only to suddenly have his leg shattered. In a painful howl the Neimoidian can't but acknowledge his defeat, and moments later the droids remain stoically silent, their weapons raised and ready to unleash more fury should any more harm be done to Findos. "HOW DARE YOU..!!" he hisses in pain, sweat streaming down his brow.

OOC: End of Combat This is officially the shortest combat I've ever seen. :P

Re: Episode 1: The Search for Luke Skywalker Begins

"How dare we?"  Mirax's current enraged state allowed her to largely ignore the pain in her side.  Luckily, it wasn't a serious wound.  A bit of meditation and she would be fine.  "How dare we?!With the droids on a temporary cease fire thanks to her and Mi's quick handiwork, she stalked over to Findos and leveled her lightsaber at him, keeping the tip a few inches away from his face such that the droids could clearly see it was not an attack.

"You paranoid piece of shit, you have the nerve to ask that after sicking half a dozen droids on us with no provocation?"
She narrowed her eyes at him.  "I would have been happy to deal with you legitimately.  You answer a few questions, we pay with some premium product.  We both leave with a good deal.  But you know what?  That's not going to happen now.  Now, you are going to give us the information we want, then we are going to go on our merry way - and if you behave, and don't do anything stupid like try to hunt us down, you won't see us again.  You will get to continue your life as normal, albeit with a bit of a limp.  Understand?"  She glanced around to her companions, giving them some time to add anything they had to the 'deal'.  Before she let them speak however, she glanced at the droids, then back at Findos.

"Oh, and since I'm such a nice lady, whether or not you get hurt any more than you already are is up to you.  Keep the droids as they are, a broken leg is all you get.  If the droids attack us, you lose an arm."
Now, she looked to the others again, and nodded.  If they had anything else to add, if was their turn now.  If not, then they would go about getting their information.

Seris rubbed her arm where she'd been shot and twisted it slightly to inspect the wound, but it was not as bad as she'd feared.  In fact, there was little evidence of a wound at all.  Must've been the heat as it shot past me, she decided.  Turning to glance at the others, she winced as she took note of Findos' broken leg.  Her hands itched to do something to help, but she didn't have her medical equipment with her.  It hadn't been part of her cover and she didn't want to be burdened with it.  Still, she didn't like seeing people in pain.  Not even someone like Findos.

Nodding, Mirax looked back to Findos.  It seemed they were going to let her take care of this.

"Okay then."
She kept the lightsaber where it was.  "Not long ago, you did a bit of business in a back alley with someone wearing a cloak and cowl." She didn't mention any names - Findos would know who it was.  "You sold him two things - a datapad and a small dark cube.  First questions: what was the cube, and where did you get it?" Though it looked like a holocron, she had to confirm.  Of course, Findos might not know what it was - if that was the case, then it was further proof of it being a holocron.  Why else would Luke buy it?

"The artifact? I don't know! Skywalker had left standing instructions to be informed if I came across any old Jedi objects. He said he would pay handsomely for them... and he did! A smuggler came here a few months ago, looking to pawn a trinket he claimed was looted from an ancient Jedi temple on a forgotten planet. I bought the item from him; it wasn't much, a stone cube about the size of a fist. Scanners read a power source inside, but if it was some type of device - I certainly couldn't activate it. So I sold it to Skywalker, along with the coordinates to the planet where it was found."

"So the datapad contained the coordinates to the planet then..." Mirax said, repeating it for confirmation.  Jedi object... no, it wasn't a Jedi object.  That also meant it wasn't a Jedi world either.  This was bad.  "Do you know when he plans to leave?  And, more importantly, I'm going to need a copy of those coordinates.  Or the name of the smuggler you got them from."

"Yes coordinates to a planet in the Yavin star system," Nute grumbled, obviously in pain and getting wary. "I don't have the exact coordinates anymore, but I think Solo said he found it on the fourth planet to be exact... maybe it was the third? I can't remember... When who will leave??" he said looking up, puzzled.

EDITED last sentence.

"Fourth planet of the Yavin system..." Mirax noted that down in her mind for future reference.  "Skywalker, of course.  Did he say anything about his plans?  He wouldn't have bought them if he didn't plan to go."  She then sighed.  It was unlikely Master Skywalker would have revealed anything.  "Doubtful that he told you anything I guess.  What about this smuggler, Solo?  Do you know if he's still on Koshibal?"

Findos laughed a long time, despite the pain of his shattered broken leg, "You think..??" he said amid spasms of laughter, "that a man like Skywalker would tell me of his plans? Oh you're precious..!!" He finished laughing and shook his head, "I was lucky to get out of that trade alive... And as to smugglers like Solo, they're always on the move and don't normally leave calling cards..."

Mirax shrugged.  It had been worth a shot.  "You never know.  So, you don't have anything regarding Solo?  Ship name?  Maybe what starport he was docked in?" She glanced to her companions.  If they had no questions, then this would be their last.

"Ulu Teem..." Mirax sighed.  At least they had ended amicably.  Or close enough.  But, this new tidbit was unsettling.  He hadn't mentioned that he was in contact with Skywalker.  That wasn't good.  Then again, it could very well have been Skywalker influencing him through the Force... just as she had.

"I suppose that's all then," Mirax replied.  She held up her end of the bargain and shut off her lightsaber. "I hope, in the future, you remember that sometimes, people come to information brokers for information."  She looked to the others then.  "Well, lets get going then I suppose."

"He is in need of medical attention," Seris pointed out.  She was frowning, still bothered at how quickly things had gone down.  The others might make it a habit, but Seris didn't get shot at that often.  "But I did not bring my medical supplies.  Master Findos, I will comm someone to attend you immediately.  I am very sorry about all of this.  I had no choice in the matter."

"I'm not sorry," Mirax replied, casting a confused look over to Seris.  "Its a broken leg, nothing life threatening.  Hell, not even really enough to cripple him or affect his line of work.  He earned it by attacking us.  Luckily, we were able to work things out before there were any further... injuries."  She shrugged - she was tempted to stop Seris from calling for a medic, just to let him be in pain for a while, but the temptation passed. "Do you have anything you'd like to ask before we go?"

"If he does send an assassin, he's clearly not very smart," Mirax said, eying Findos at the mention of another Assassin.  She didn't bother offering further arguments to her claim.  For instance, instead of attacking people who enter his office, why not scan for weapons and have them detained at the door?  It was an obvious solution to assassins.

"All right.  You two all set then?"
she asked, looking to Kal and Mi.  If they were, then they would be heading out... out to visit Ulu Teem once again.

Findos glowers from his position on the ground, giving Mirax an icy stare at her final remarks.

As if on cue, a door hisses open and TC-11 wobbles back to you, "I will have to ask you to leave." It said as it designated the door, "Mistress Seris, I believe you and your friends will no longer be welcome here, however we have recently acquired a medical droid that might serve Master Findos. Thank you for pointing out the obvious flaws in our security routines, I will make the necessary changes," it says with as it waved you through the door.

With a nod to the droid, Seris moved past, anxious to be out of Findos' home.  Who knew what other security measures he might have had in place that he could call upon in a moment's notice.  Once out of the chamber, she glanced to Mirax.

"Back to Ulu, then?  I wonder why he didn't think to mention his involvement."  Her tone was more than a little sarcastic.

Remaining quiet and to one side as he did normally Mi turned to follow after Mirax and Zala.  He sighed walking up beside the girls and shaking his head slowly. "He most likely doesn't want us to know since he is still doing some form of business with Master Skywalker.  Based on this information I would suggest getting him somewhere that he could be watched by a trained surveillance team.   At the same time not letting him know that we know. If we pull it off right we could potentially set a trap for the master if he is still in contact with Ulu."

As soon as Mirax gives them the chance to, the droids put themselves between her and Nute, trailing you with their automatic blaster riffles as the group heads for the door leading out of Nindo's office. Their movement follows Mirax's every move, rather than Mi's, Kal's or Seris' until the group is out. The group follows the corridor for a few minutes to another door which, once opened, sends in a beam of blinding sunlight, as a ramp extends down to an open garage carved into a rocky wall of the planet - a large landspeeder is ready and waiting. The tell-tale sound of droids activating their blasters not far behind you.

OOC: Posting for Kal and GM

The twi'lek girl hurried out of the chamber to follow the others. "I think he's going to do something stupid," she said as she heard the droids re-powering their weapon. "They'll be on us in a few seconds if we don't get..." Suddenly blaster bolts streak down the corridor, narrowly missing Mi who daftly pushes past the Twi'lek girl.

Knowing that they need to get out now, Kal jumps into the driver's seat and starts the repulsors. "Hurry up! Get in!!"

Re: Episode 1: The Search for Luke Skywalker Begins

Time to end this thread...

Loading up into the speeder, the team takes off into the dying sunlight, racing across the rocky flats back towards the settlement. In the distance, far behind them, a small figure limps out of the garage frantically waving his arms and shouting as several battle droids emerge after it, shooting wildly at the speeder.

The Twi'lek expertly dodges several shots, and eventually steers the speeder out of view, and like a demon, speeds down towards the settlement, glancing at the rear-view mirrors to see if their enemy is in pursuit. Minutes later, the settlement is in sight, and Kal banks the speeder, and brings it to a stop in some alley, not wanting it to lead Findos and his army of droids directly on them. Suggesting caution, she tells Zala to lead you all back to the Cantina. It was evident that she wanted to a little chat with a Gran named Ulu Teem, and was hoping that the transport to Nar Shadaa was ready and leaving.

Entering the cantina through the back door, the group heads directly for Ulu's private room, where the party enters - to find one very dead gran. It's Ulu, and his head has been severed from the rest of him... the wound clean - and completely cauterized.

Rushing out to ask the bartender who was in the room with Ulu... the barkeep stops for a moment and shakes his head in confusion, "You... know... I thought... I thought someone went in with him... but... I... I just can't seem to remember. Huh."

So ends the first chapter in the Search for Luke Skywalker. Our team finds itself with a scant bit of information - and a tenuous lead. Alone on an outer-rim world with an angry crime lord and an army of droids - will they be able to find a way offworld and to the myserious planet Yavin?

The search for Skywalker continues...

I will be opening a new thread soon. Your XP totals will also be updated.
