Re: Episode 1: The Search for Luke Skywalker Begins

Kal's eyes narrowed, "It's an explosive device that could easily punch a hole in the hull and kill us all, you nitwit. I think that perhaps I will make the drop, get the credits, and use it to provide a bacta treatment to our nearly dead friend."

Kal looked at Mirax meaningfully at the mention of Ulu Teem. He presumed she could read his mind. She's a Jedi, after all.

Mirax caught Kal's look, but she did not need the Force to tell what he intended.  The name raised a flag in her mind as well - Ulu Teem, the Gand contact they were supposed to meet once they arrived on Koshibal.  This little encounter provided them with a perfect way to meet him discreetly, without blowing their cover.

"I think that's a wonderful idea,"
she said, turning her glare on the two.  "Since, it was your wonderful idea that put our friend in this condition."

Re: Episode 1: The Search for Luke Skywalker Begins

"You'd better negotiate a higher price then, cause I'm down a V-Wing..." Pugwis said, obviously angry at the fact that Kal had the moral high ground. If it hadn't been for Claire, he would have insisted at being paid first. He scowled at Vertuba, "I'd fire you, but you owe me 60,000 credits... you'll work them off or reimburse me, and at the end of that, if you've grown some grey matter between now and then... we'll see."

With that, Pugwis stormed off towards the piloting cabin and the Comet slowly made its way towards Koshibal with Mi in the other Fighter, leaving you to discuss matters before your arrival.

Kal shrugged. "I'll see what I can do." And he planned to do just that. No guarantees, though.

He then looked at Mirax, "So how do you want to play this when we land? You said that dealing with our target was your specialty. Generally being incognito is mine. What extra precautions should we take based on his particular skills?" He then paused for a moment and got a look on his face like he had forgotten something important, "My apologies, I had forgotten you just got out of the cockpit. Could I interest you in a stiff drink while we plan? Or a foot massage?"

"A drink would be wonderful," Mirax replied, finding herself a seat, on which she collapsed into the most comfortable position she could find.  "But it wouldn't be a good idea.  Maybe later tonight I'll take you up on one - or both of your offers.  Anyway... unfortunately, as I share a common skill with our target, I will be our biggest liability when it comes to dealing with him.  I will be able to keep my presence hidden, but when we close in, we will have to move fast.  I doubt I am skilled enough to hide when we are close to him." Mirax sighed, then thought about the rest of what they could do.

"The one thing you should remember above all else is to keep his name far from your mind.  Names are the easiest things to draw from people's minds, and if his pops up... that will be a huge warning flag."

Re: Episode 1: The Search for Luke Skywalker Begins

Eventually, you arrive beat up, but alive, to Koshibal.

Pugwis signals the authorities that he's got a casualty that needs medical attention and then starts the landing procedures, more eager to get the you off his ship and sell what's left of his cargo, than his concern for Claire. Eventually, you feel the humm of the Comet's landing gear extending and the gentle thump as she lands gracefull on the platform. Soon afterwards, Pugwis is outside...

It doesn't take long for the curses to fly. Apparently, the local port authority's dockmaster isn't being cooperative and is demanding a landing fee that Pugwis refuses to pay, as well as a ship and passenger manifest and cargo inspection that Pugwis refuses to allow. "There's never been a krifing a fee or an inspection before..." he growls, as he glares at Vertuba accusingly, but the dockmaster smugly agrees: "Well that was then, now times here are hard, and this is the "new policy" instituted by the docking guild. I can always impound her..." he suggested.

Re: Episode 1: The Search for Luke Skywalker Begins

Shortly after the call for medical attention, a seemingly-human woman arrived with a medical kit slung over her shoulder and another carrying case in one hand.  Dressed in a brown coverall she could have been any number of workers scurrying about the dock.  Though her hair was shockingly white, she seemed young, perhaps in her mid-twenties.  Watching the scene with violet eyes, she studied both the Captain and the dockmaster as they spoke.

"Give 'em a couple hundred credits more than what he asked and he'll forget to register, board, and inspect your ship entirely," she suggested as she approached.  She focused briefly on the dockmaster and smirked, knowing the greedy bastard well.

[Private to Power of the Darkside: While on Koshibal, I imagine that Zala won't be using her real name for fear of discovery.  The people there would know her as Seris Narill.  She's also taking care not to extend her antennae in an attempt to pose as human. ]

Re: Episode 1: The Search for Luke Skywalker Begins

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Mirax paid little attention to the evolving issue with the dockmaster.  They had arrived on Koshibal, so technically, their contract with the crew of the Comet was up.  She was much more interested in the surrounding area - and in particular the woman approaching them.  They had sent for medical help, so this was likely the one they had asked for.

Once she passed but he arguing Captain and dockmaster, Mirax nodded to her. "Are you the paramedic?" she asked, crossing her arms over her chest.  Before landing, Mirax had changed into more normal attire - no longer was she so obviously a Jedi.  She had even abandoned the traveler's cloak, which had a chance of outing her profession.  Now, she simply looked like your average civilian, with a leather coat on of course.

"Mostly," she answered.  She patted the medkit hanging at her hip.  "Somebody called for assistance.  I was on duty."  Actually, she gave one of the dispatchers a kickback on any calls he sent her way, giving her steady enough income while she worked out a way to get of the rock.  "Show me to the infirmary?"

Yes, that is the idea of a paramedic, Mirax thought, rolling her eyes a bit.  Still, she was here because they had called.  "This way," she announced, and headed up the boarding ramp of the Comet.  She led Zala straight to the room where Claire laid on a bed, covered by a few blankets to keep her warm.  She was unconscious, of course - or in a coma at the worst.  But, she was alive, barely.

"Well, at least someone attempted to patch her up."  She frowned as she examined the woman, taking note of her strange appearance and cybernetics.  "What happened to her?"  She sat her medical kit and other supplies on the nearest surface and began to open them, removing a bioscanner first to take some readings.

[Private to Zala Quel'falri: Every time you attempt to persuade / influence an NPC, you'll need to roll the appropriate skill. In thia case, convincing Pugwis and the others that you are human by hiding a feature of yours is a deception.

I've done this one for you.

21:13, Today: Secret Roll: Power of the Darkside, on behalf of Zala Quel'falri, rolled 15 using 1d20+6 with rolls of 9. Deception - hide racial feature.

if you roll 15 or over on your treat injury, you'll know that someone patched her quite professionally.. She'll need a few bacta treatments and an extended stay at one of the medical facilities.

If you manage a 20+ galactic lore, you will recognized her as De la Croix, a player who has spent some time ion the Doshian Battle Ball circuits. She's likely got insurance, so people are more likely to try to hea her and get some money from her that way.

Mirax had to think about how to answer that question.  A straight, truthful answer could be dangerous because it would bring up questions.  Questions they didn't need asked.  "Starship accident navigating an asteroid field," Mirax replied.  "The vac-suit she was wearing saved her from decompression, and we were able to fish her out of the wreckage."

Kal followed the others in when the paramedic came to look at Claire, "Yes, we tried to patch her up as well as we could. Hopefully you have what it takes to stabilize her. Is there any way we can be of assistance?"

"I'm afraid not," she said to Kal's question.  She glanced up briefly to study the newcomer, then looked back to Mirax.  "She should make a full recovery.  Whoever patched her did a very good job.  However, she will need to stay in one of the facilities planetside for a while.  She needs bacta treatments, perhaps even full immersion."

"Can someone tell me who she is?  She looks very familiar, but I can't place the face.  They'll want to know who to bill for the treatments.  If you don't know or don't particularly want to tell me, that's fine.  They'll probably be able to trace her cybernetics.  Or remove them for payment."  It was a harsh reality, but reality just the same.

Kal looked at Mirax briefly before returning his gaze to Zala. He didn't see any harm in providing her name. "She is a bounty hunter named Nashtah Koth. My understanding is that her family lived on Trandosha, though she appears to be mostly human."

"That will help."  She put her scanner away and pulled out a datapad, notating a few details about the patient, her condition, and her name.  She glanced back to the two when she finished.  "Is she a friend of yours?  Will you be joining her at the facility?"

Mirax's shrug to Kal was enough of an answer to say that she agreed with him.  Claire's name was probably out there as it was anyway, and in a place like this, her type was common.  Then, the question of their relationship came up...

"She was..."
Mirax had to think about that for a second. "She was an acquaintance.  Unfortunately, I don't think we will be able to accompany her, at least not immediately.  We have business to attend to," she said.  There was little need to go into more detail than that.

She tucked her datapad and began gathering her equipment.  Violet eyes flitted up to study the pair, gauging their possible status and wealth.  "Nobody comes to Koshibal because they want to; only because they need to.  If you're looking to do business, watch your back.  This place isn't all that friendly."

Kal thought about Claire and frowned. Under other circumstances, she deserved to have someone stay with her, but the mission was paramount. His frown deepened at the mention of how Koshibal wasn't particularly hospitable. He then reversed course and gave Zala his most charming smile, "She's more than an acquaintance but I trust we'll be commed when she wakes if we provide a frequency. So when does your shift end? I don't suppose you'd be willing to show us around this dangerous, er, colony. Maybe share a drink or two..." Kal looked hopefully at the medic hoping that she might be able to give them a hand.

Kal waved his hands in front of him defensively, "No, no, we don't need you to take us anywhere dangerous, necessarily. Maybe just show us the areas that aren't dangerous. And what to watch out for. Think of it as a way to make sure we don't end up needing a call for a medic. Or a coroner." Kal's most charming smile returned at the end.
