Episode 1: The Search for Luke Skywalker Begins

Night time was fast approaching, Coruscant's lights slowly lighting up around the Jedi Temple as a small shuttle landed on the temple's landing pad. Kal Wennyn looked at his chrono and the instructions he'd received, re-reading the one line of text there. He was being summoned to one of the temple's conference chambers, and had 15 minutes to make his way there.

He quietly made his way to one of the turbolifts and entered when the doors hissed open, admitting him and a Claire, before the doors hissed shut again.

The lift stopped a few floors up to accept a few more individuals, padawans mostly, but among them was another that didn't done the Jedi Robes. This one was a blood carver, and it considered Claire and Kal with mild interest as the doors closed behind it.

Re: Episode 1: The Search for Luke Skywalker Begins

Kal was dressed in a spotless and pressed working uniform of the Republic Navy, his lieutenant's insignia displayed on the collar. As always, the rest of his appearance was neat, in this case, dark hair trimmed and face clean-shaven. When he entered the turbolift, his smile faltered slightly.

He looked around at the others in the turbolift, and began to get a slight queasiness in his stomach.  He had been to many places in the galaxy, and seen some things that still gave him nightmares.  But nothing was more difficult to him than a silent ride up or down a turbolift.

Kal had always been a talkative sort of fellow, enjoying chats with folk of all sorts of species. Yet when the turbolift door closed, everyone seemed to abide by some sort of unwritten rule that polite denizens of the galaxy don't talk on turbolifts. He tried to calm himself through breathing exercises that he had learned in the military, but they were really no use.

Eventually, something inside of him broke, and he opened his mouth, "So...how is everyone doing this evening?" It was an awkward opening from a man who was usually anything but awkward in a social situation.

The humm of the turbolift accentuated the awkward silence that followed, thankfully interrupted when the lift came to a stop and the doors hissed open, revealing the Jedi Temple's lower levels.

Re: Episode 1: The Search for Luke Skywalker Begins

Kal exited and glanced around the corridor, noticing the two republic army personel standing watch in front of a door. 'Ahh... that must be the place,' he thought as he walked over towards the sentries. "I love the way the Republic Army stands guard, even here in the bowels of Jedi Temple," he said out loud.

Inside, turmoil roiled within Kel. How embarrassing it was to try to break the silence in a Turbolift, yet be completely ignored. His rejoinder concerning the Republic Army was meant to cover his embarrassment. Against normal sentients that would work. Around Jedi....not so much. But maybe these were only mediocre Jedi or ones that couldn't sense his embarrassment. At any rate, the security of a meeting room would be his temporary sanctuary.

Re: Episode 1: The Search for Luke Skywalker Begins

The seasoned bountyhunter simply stood still in response to Kal's attempt at making pleasantries.  She rolled her eye... just one because the other wasn't capable of such fine motor movements.  Fortunately for the other occupants of the turbolift who might be disturbed by the gesture, she wore the opaque sunshield of her Armored Flight Suit's helmet down so that no one could see anything except for a red glow shining from the right side of her face about where her right eye should be.  The only other movement she makes is equally small, but much more significant.  She flicked off the safety on her N'Gant-Zarvel 9118 Heavy Carbine.  Otherwise she didn't make any threatening gestures with the heavy carbine.  She kept it pointed casually down at the floor.  That would be the bountyhunter way of saying they don't like small talk.  The rest of her body-language remained casual; holding onto her Force Pike with one hand and leaning on it like a walking stick.

Re: Episode 1: The Search for Luke Skywalker Begins

As the group moved towards the door and the sentries, both suddenly stood at attention, their combat boots resounding up and down the hallway, accompanied by the rattle their riffles made. "Sorry, sir," one of the sentries said as they noticed Kal's rank, "authorized personel only, sir. Unless you have instructions to the contrary, we can't allow you into the conference room."

"That's alright sergeant... Let them through," came a gruff voice from inside the room. To Kal's surprise the door wasn't closed; beyond was a team of military techs sweeping the room with various devices. Waiting patiently at the table for the team to finish was a woman whose back was turned towards you as well an officer in a general's uniform.

The sentry nodded to Kal as he stood out of the door's way, "You can go ahead, sir," he said appoligetically.

Kal nodded at the sentry who had granted him access.  "Thank you, sergeant."

He walked into the room and paused a meter inside the door where he made his body rigid as he stood at attention.

"Lieutenant Wennyn reporting as ordered, General."

He would remain like this, unmoving and silent, until released by his superior officer.

Re: Episode 1: The Search for Luke Skywalker Begins

Mi had remained silent on the lift just having nothing to say about anything that was being said.  He was a man of few words and chose to keep his opinions to himself most of the time.  His long dark brown coat covered most of his body, his light yellow face mostly concealed behind a wide brimmed hat. There were no weapons that could be seen, and the fluidity of his movements  spoke of a being that had been through the most intense training.

He proceeded to the door when the turbolift reached the level in question and continued on through should the sentries let him.  In truth he didn’t need to wait for them to let him pass but he chose to let them let him.
