Re: Vicinity of Box 2 (Espiaux) 002-5742
In reply to Jacques Keveloh (msg #21):
Aksina almost imperceptibly tilts her head in the direction of the airlock leading to the launch, "Very good, sir. Shall I accompany you or wait here?"
It would take a determined intrusion attempt to defeat the security locks on the Launch's iris valve, but it would not be impossible given the right skills, equipment, and time. Also, the lounge would be a good, central location to physically observe movement through the ship.
On the other hand, Aksina is an extra, trained pair of eyes.
With or without Dagala, Captain Wisecup leads the group the few short meters to the bridge. The layout of the sissy is vaguely reminiscent of a Type R Fat Trader, in that the engineering, passenger, crew, and bridge are all on an upper level, over a large cargo area running from stem to stern on the lower level. The cargo area is divided into three distinct bays.
Holly's bridge is slightly smaller than Gypsy Moth's own. It is also longer and narrower. Unlike Gypsy Moth, the sissy's builders didn't put any value on craftsmanship or elegance. Holly's bridge is purely functional. Two control consoles are forward center on the bridge. Two others line the port bulkhead, while a large, secure locker, presumably the ship's locker, is to starboard. The bridge looks well lived in. Bulletins, advisories, company policies about this or that mundane detail, and half-witty printouts have been adhesed to various vertical surfaces. There is a quantity of loose gear that wouldn't be tolerated in the Pathfinders, but that has accumulated over time here and been wedged into various nooks in a half-hearted attempt to maintain some semblance of order.
A roughly thirtyish woman is sitting at the starboard console forward. A cup of some steaming beverage sits near console and she has one leg up, boot resting on the console's lower edge when the group enters. She is wearing coveralls of the same style as Wisecup, though hers are newer and less worn. Her angular, ebon features are emphasized by her hair style. She apparently wears the right side of her head shaved, with the remaining hair angled sharply left. She stands and reports to the Captain, "Snell says two security guys just got to engineering, Skipper. Also, Jerry's waiting down in the forward hold."
Jack can tell at a glance from the First Officer's display that the sissy's sensors, comms, and, well, just about everything else aren't nearly as advanced as Moth's. A quick peek at the relative positions of Box 2, Gypsy Moth, and the SDB indicates the sissy hasn't moved since the launch docked.
One thing Hollylooks to have that Gypsy Moth doesn't is escape pods. The display indicates ten of them, one for each stateroom. Perhaps this is to compensate for the sissy's lack of small craft in the event of an emergency.
In a kindly voice, Wisecup introduces his First Officer, "This is Collins. She's my right hand and the girl's second pilot. She or I can answer pretty much any question there is to answer about Holly."
The Dupont security officer already on the sissy, Hollweg, directs by asking, "Captain, could you bring up the security camera feeds for my colleague."
"Of course Mister Hollweg", with a series of taps he has clearly performed many, many times over the years, Wisecup displays camera feeds on one of the port consoles. Holly's camera placement appears to have been more motivated by systems and cargo monitoring concerns than actual security, but Jack and Lafleur get a good overview of the status of the various spaces on the ship. The center cargo hold, the largest, contains mostly tank (as in liquid tank, not war machine tank) containers in the 10dton range, while the aft cargo hold is packed full of standard shipping containers of various colors.
You can see a female crewmember leading Gomez and Diehl around engineering. A younger, obviously bored, male crewmember is leaning against the bulkhead in the small, forward cargo bay. If Dagala waited in the lounge, she is visible alertly keeping guard. There is no other movement visible in the cameras nor are there signs of recent damage or struggle.
