That would be me :)

I did look around a little, but avoided reading too much into past or ongoing events. I prefer to learn things In Character and I dislike spoilers :p

So, all I'd want, assuming no one has an issue with me joining, is knowing what the party would want covered.

I'm somewhat particular to the Night Caste, but I'm pretty flexible.

Plus, I was thinking a focus on Medicine and Craft (water) (and maybe wood). You don't have a healer, do you?

Edit: Also, I'm new in RPOL in general, so any configuration or interface tips are welcome :)

I am actually unsure what Caste the Lady is, but I have the Night Caste pretty much covered. Twilight would be excellent, especially a healer, but also somebody with actual mystical might could be advantageous.

Twilight crafter/healer. I can see how that would work nicely.

I'll steer away from sorcery, though, if you don't mind :p

Your choice. I find Sorcery can be exceptionally utilitarian and with enough forethought, combat effective. My character will head in the Sorcery Route soon I think. Like Crafts and WSCT, sorcery has an almost unlimited amount of applications.

Re: OOC thread: Into Falan!
My last Twilight PC had an ego based on Dark Schneider, a Hand of the Great Maker, a Protoshimaic Vortex, and made liberal use of Wyld Shaping Technique.

He once needed an expert opinion on an alchemical substance, so he created one. ("Useful mortal" is one of the things it can canonically do, at least by the Core rules, which is what we were going off of at the time.)

Re: OOC thread: Into Falan!

I'm not certain I'll have the chance to socket a ProtoShinmaic Vortex in a Hand of the Great Maker (how many did he have anyway?), but I think I'll go by the assumption that I won't be doing such anytime soon. :p

Also, I'm thinking less craft / loremaster, more healer.

A character without a dark secret, 1 dot in stealth, and a general good attitude would suit me just fine. :-)

IE just about anything.

I'm pretty certain I will regret asking this, but...

why 1 dot in stealth specifically?

Re: OOC thread: Into Falan!
In reply to Caldeon (msg # 212):

I meant at least 1 dot in stealth. I find it aggravating in the extreme to have stealthless companions as a super stealthy night caste. With at least 1 dot in stealth you can generally expect an exalt to be able to throw 4 dice, 7 if it really matters to channel a virtue. That is enough to defeat most mortals. On the other hand, characters without 1 stealth gain a -2 to their dex (min essence) and all but have to channel JUST to get past a single guard on patrol. So, I have insisted that all (when the game was originally put together and new players as well) have at least 1 dot in stealth.

Thus the characters can participate in my characters specialty even as he is forced to participate in the talking, socializing, and open battlefield fighting that the others specialize in :-)

Re: OOC thread: Into Falan!
I get your point, will be getting Stealth :)

However...
quote:
gain a -2 to their dex

is this a house rule?

I am not 100% certain, but I am pretty sure Exalts don't get the -2 penalty on untrained abilities like mortals do.
Not that I mind either case, just asking.

Edit: Found it.
quote:
One  common  penalty  is  for  acting  without  the  proper  Ability. The player of anyone who is not Exalted loses two dice  from any roll based on an Ability in which she does not have  any dots.

Caldeon has the right of it. Exalted, just for being Exalted, get to use their raw Attribute even if they lack the Ability.

Because Exalts are just awesome like that. :)

Hi, Caldeon! And welcome to the game, here's hoping you enjoy it. I play Bea, a Zenith and our resident social tank and nosey investigator type. She can fight fairly decently if called upon to do so. Alsoshelikesmoney.

Alistr is a blacksmith by reputation, so we probably have at least some aspects of crafting handled if you don't want to do that. He's also a Lunar, which kind of means he's good in a fight by default.

Craft(Water) is of course wonderful and much welcomed. Sevastian seems to have dropped the game, so we need a new cook! Very important. ::nods::

Healing is always nice, although we haven't actually been in any fights yet. If nothing else it fits a good character niche - healer types are generally welcome everywhere just on principle.

As an aside to Merlin; I didn't know solo'ing the stealthy bits was bothering you so much. If you want, Bea might be able to accompany you. She's got six dice for stealth on account of having grown up with Nancy Drew antics. Mason might also be able to tag along; I have no idea what he's good at or not, but he seems like a shifty guy who can't be trusted, so he's probably good at stealth!

To put Alistr in proper perspective. He is a blacksmith who is sneaky as heck and plans on folding in some sorcery when I get the chance.Of course weapon of choice is of course a hammer.

Re: OOC thread: Into Falan!

Nice to meet everyone.

Yes, I plan to get the usual herbal/remedy craft stuff, including cooking (chicken soup heals everything, didn't you know?), so likely water/wood crafts will be at least something the char will be familiar with.

So, Segev, am I to PM you a sheet?

Indeed! I admit to being more interested in what you're thinking of in terms of Motivation and personality and background, but the sheet will also be important. ;)

I try - with mixed success - to make sure everybody's character goals, interests, or story hooks have some time in the limelight, so everybody has reasons for their characters to be here and interested in what's going on.

Speaking of...I should probably put out another post. Likely tomorrow evening. If anybody has anything else they want to talk to the Duke about (or anybody else at the table) before Something Happens, please feel free to do so before then.

Forgot to mention.

Sheet is done and approved, as is background story, description (and image) and the details that bring the character near the group. :)

The current plan is to have her meet up as soon as the party leaves the castle. If that seems to be taking too long, I will cook up a way to get her inside.

I am waiting for the Lady to indicate that Merlin should follow the troops out. That is if she wants something like that. Merlin will likely do it if the opportunity presents itself.

Probably for the best. Bea's first priority is the camp, but I don't think we're going to be able to check that out for a bit yet, and Merlin will probably be back in plenty of time.

I suppose that is a reasonable conclusion to draw from the fact that they can see the incoming Beastmen from here. Why don't you think you can check out the camp "for a bit yet," though?

Re: OOC thread: Into Falan!
Because I had forgotten that we'd already gotten the Duke's blessing to look into it, more or less.
So now we're looking at whether to split the party? Is there anyone who can go with Merlin on is air raid?

Re: OOC thread: Into Falan!
Up to you guys whether you want to split the party or not. Merlin has volunteered to go with the Duke's men, but was not asked to do so. Clavien will pass along Merlin's offer and likely it will be accepted, if that's the way you guys want to go.

Alistr: That's true. You wouldn't be quite as fast (probably), but you'd still be faster than the rest of us would be on foot (I think).
Any volunteers? Mason, you still with us? ;)
