At least nobody's asking me to jump out of perfectly serviceable aircraft (or spacecraft for that matter!).

Re: OOC # 15

He can come down with the regular infantry troops, and poke around to his heart's content.  The more bodies we have dropping, the better our odds of being detected, and he's not qualified for it...no jump-training, he's not a sharpshooter or sniper, he doesn't have Omni-comm training...and we're not going down for a survey...we're recon-in-force.  There's no logical reason to risk a unique asset on a high-risk mission that he's not trained for.  Much as I like to include everyone, I try to avoid inviting characters to jump into the jaws of death...*grin*

Re: OOC # 15

Where is Sergeant Major Spencer right now? I'm pretty sure my character is supposed to be taking orders from you. Though it'd be very in character for me to not be able to find you before you leave and wander about the ship, lost and confused, I would like to do something with him eventually.

Alec... you can 'flex' coming to the SEC  at the 'end of the   mission brief"  and take  with Spencer.

It would also be quite in character for me to wander late into the middle of an important briefing. I'll do that.

Re: OOC # 15

::sigh::

so, today i planned on posting alot more. My new neighbor, who is a very good  guy, and whose  daughter is dating my granson, asks for a ride to the DMV to get his  lisence   renewed.. he moved in in th summer from out of state..didn't update his tags, and was pulled over...his car is impounded.

so..i sais.."sure".. take the little one  with us (4 yr old) and we go to DMV...

8 minutes away...

we get there..he  is in there 15 minutes...comes out , they won't  do it with up his birth cert...but? he can get a new one down town at the Social security office...

no problem, another r10 minute drive...go down there..wait30 minutes... he has another  form...if he  sends it in, or does in online..it will take 3-5 weeks..if we go in person, he can get it the next day...

now?..the guy is a good guy...he can't go to work for  3-5 weeks if he doesn't have  a car...Ok..lets see if  we can get to New CAstle , before 4:00...

New Castle is   a bit north of Pittsburgh..2+ hours away...off we go..with a 4 yr old...I get him to call his wife to get the other 2 girls when they get off the bus...

on the way there?..he finds out he needs a Money order, or check..he doesn't have a checking account..i didn't have mine with me..stop at a store..they don't do it...went to a Credit union..wouldn't do it  because he isn't a client...go to PNC bank..he doesn'[t have an account... I see an FNB banl.. and I sais, I have an account in Windber?...so we go there, he gives me the money..the chick wasn't going to pull the trigger on the Money Order so I said, In My very best 'Shadow'..

"..Look, we drve two hours to get to Vital Records and they need a Money order.. I have accounts In the Windber FNB...check?" she looked at me.. I half smiled and nodded at her..she punches stuff in and says,"...20.00?..." she  gets the  MO and off we go...Make it with 45 minutes to spare...as he  finishes the  papers work  the lady says,"..you want it mailed out, or do you want to pick it up tomorrow..."

The guy looks at me"..can we come back tomorrow?"...::sigh:: so..another 4-5 hour  round trip tomorrow..

the 4 yr old was a trooper, she never fussed once...she was plied with Chocolate Milk and a hotdog...

I..however...felt  really good, that I passed a Charisma Check on the  bank chick!

so..I'll make another post or  two , now...and check later... won;'t make it back on her, until after noon tomorrow.

Re: OOC # 15

yep Jesse, I had to offer though. I know how I felt when my car   would break down..or  when my wife was alive..i would  have her drop me off at work early..and then  she would pick me up, or I would walk home.

sometimes  one of my buddies would give me a ride, it was funny how many of them asked me to pick them up on the way to work.

More then once, I saw my poor wife looked horrified, that she forgot to  pick  me up because she was making supper, and wondered why I was late!

but? I little  pain in the  butt, to help I guy get to work, :: shrugs::

His wife is going to watch the little one tomorrow, so we don't have th drag the poor thing with us again.

Re: OOC # 15

You're a good man, Don.... but the bureaucracy in your state needs a serious overhaul! Trouble with being a computer scientist is that you think in terms of systems design and it sounds like that documentation system is in a complete mess.

They have recently introduced a silly thing in the UK. Every car has to be taxed, however instead of you just paying the tax for the year and that car being taxed for the year, now if you sell the car the tax is automatically cancelled (and you get the balance back), and the new owner has to re-tax it BEFORE they can drive it anywhere. So you go to buy a car and want to drive it away, you hope the seller will let you use their computer - at least you can pay the tax online - because you cannot tax it in advance of the sale.

Just did that last week 'cos my old car failed its annual inspection big style, it was cheaper to replace it than to have the faults fixed.

Anyway, enjoy your road trip!
