"I hope it's a good song." Garrat says "Because other than that it fits both of our criteria.  We'll give it a try."  He thinks about it for a bit.  "I'll talk to spencer.  Maybe there is a solution I'm not covering."

He checks in with the engine room, then locks down the ship to the scrap bay.

Gyrisk watched the machinery work, thinking to himself a bit. His mind wondered to a different time, though he looked as if he was zoning out. Under his breath came a mutter, "Skan. . ." as he zips his head towards the lizard. He rushed to speak, having an idea which was just boggling to get out,"Do you have inverted capacitaters? Specifically ones with rubber insolation laced with nickel?' This was specific but possible seeing as how Nickel, in small doses, acted as a support to rubber insolation. Rubber was often used to transfer electricity so this in a high dose could possibly contain a engine's Electronic discharge.

His body turned as he spoke, the left side arms patting himself down while his right side grabs the lizard's shoulder in a tight, but not painful, grip.

In reply to Gyrisk (msg # 461):
“With the gold leaf connection points and the molybdenum insulated core?  I barely knew they existed before I was given a list of parts I could requisition for this ship.  The empire used them only for the targeting systems on their navel cannons.”  He offers a hand for a shake.  Whether accepted or not, he continues  "My apologies, I am Kritz, the one like me on the bridge is Div.  We are alone looking forward to a time when they find more of those of us who can work well with the humans and their allies.  Till then, I for one enjoy working with the better equipment.  Lets go topside. there is something I think you'd like to see."  He leads Gyrisk back through the mechanical underbelly of the ship.  Gyrisk will note the batteries cells are kept in armored banks along either side of the keel. [tip to newbe, everything in this tech bases is electrical.  That's why the Engines are all ion engines, so these are the equivalent of fuel tanks.]

Kira wanted to chuckle but she kept her professionalism with the kids, "This model mech gets around 23-24 MPH, as for cannons we don't get shot out of cannons we attach to the side of assault shuttles, as for a bathroom it would be nice but sadly no"

Smacks the boy in next to him in the shoulder "Told you, now you owe me a full hour of practice."

“Knute,” Garrat’s voice cracks like a whip, “that’s not something you discuss with your superiors.”
“I’m sorry sir, I just wanted to know.” Knute seems to be having a hard time standing still.
Garrat’s eyes narrow “Newt, go to the head.  NOW”
“Yes sir.”  Knute literally runs from the room.
“Sorry about that.  His simulator scores are high because of his ability to focus but it gives him a one track mind sometimes.”
I hope the others have been kind.”

Garrat looked after the boy as he headed to the restroom. "No he wasn't, but if he is to be im the military I would see him setting an example as to how an officer should behave."   Now we get to introduce you to the scrap deck of the LG01.  He pushes a button and the bay doors roll up.  The space beyond opens on to what used to be a vehicle storage bay, but is now being used to dissassemble huge chunks of ships for scrap and parts. [I'll let Missy give you the full description]

The opening onto the deck spend the dimensions of the transports main space. About 25 x 30’. The deck is self was massive,  Close to 100 feet across and 35 feet high. 15 feet out from the walls caution tape represented A large square on the floor.   This in turn was crisscrossed by a line splitting it into four equal sections three of which had huge chunks of metal on them. What Mechs were operational and not on the transport We’re carefully pulling apart these chunks of scrap with the help of many people on foot. Older people with pry cut and break piece is loose tossing them down to children who would sort them into bins along the aft wall.  The max handled the larger pieces, and though everything happened in the slightly slow the ballet, insinuating lighter gravity, The mechs handled massively heavy pieces that could not be handled otherwise.
Along the Bow side wall informal Mech bays had old spare parts and armor as well as in most cases a weapon arm to replace the engineering arm that was being used to pull ship pieces a part.  These were situated between struts that curved out from the walls and up towards and into  the ceiling.  Along the edges groups of teenagers sat Together in groups around  bunches of laptop  computers doing homework, a mother looked after several children, not all her own  and several young boys seemed to be working on the circuit boards for remote control vehicles.   All of them seem to have various forms of mechanical or metal bracelets snapped on the arm to held her chip, And all of the ones working in the scrapping area had on that same peculiar armor she had noticed in some of the Mech initiates.

Garrat  shrugs, “Not my show, I’ve just been helping with it.  Missy is the one with the contacts, and the deck is run by the junk rats.”  Garrat looks over shoulder, “if you want to hop in your gear and get a closer look I need to take mine out for walk.”

Garrat climbs into the Largan mech and joins her.  His mech is patchy with parts having been replaced.  It’s not running at full efficiency but appears to be in the process of being improved. “Sorry, I haven’t had as much time to work on my mech as the teams that look after the house mechs have.”

In reply to Garrat Wolfrim (msg # 473):

The scrap piles are rapidly dwindling soon only one remained because they had to stop the process for a bit. And a Vampic body  have been found and it was removed with dignity My special group that waited on the sidelines. "Most of the time the scrap is melted in one big clump with impurities weakening the alloy and decrease the value.  By sorting the steel is better quality, and the other metals get us more profit per pound making enough money to pay the junks rats more than fair wages, on top of letting them grab components both for the ship, resale, or to make their own inventions that would normally just be smelted away giving them a secondary source of income and supplying us with parts to refit the transports and other ships for now.  You want a specialty item made?  This is the place. It won't be with new parts, but it will by at a low cost and creative." Missy wondered how many bodies had never been discovered and ended up being burned  into the mix.  The two finished  groups Joined together to clean the last one up.  One of the Largans climbed into one of the mechs and the two eldest boys climbed into the example mechs and walked out of The transport bay.

They lined up on  when the edge of  the salvage field.  When the other Max we’re done with salvage they too lined up in that spot.  Behind each Mac a group of boys and girls got into position, some coming off of other projects others putting away their schoolwork.  Missy remained on foot,  but spoke for the group.

“ we found a bunch of the younger children were interested in operating the max as the junk rats trained on them to use for salvage purposes. So we formed the training units where mature junk rat was assigned to a Mac and all who wanted to drive it  with report to him for scheduled hours of training  both in and out of the Mech.  They are responsible for its repair and upkeep.  Garrat  isn’t here much, but has helped with some of the more Militaristic attitudes, but the ESN presence here on the station has picked up where he has left off,  and this is become the closest thing we have to an ROTC on board the ship.“

Garrat shrugs, "Well that's up to you."   Garrat paused "I wanted to suggest that rather than having blocks and blocks of gang infested ruble in the stem, maybe some of it be cleared out as a proving grounds for calvery type equipment such as mechs, and a processing space for scrap allowing for factories and training areas like this.   That way Delta fleet can make a place for people to go when they fall between the cracks.  You saw the kids from the stem.  Tough, capable, clever to live as long as they did.  Give them real food and a real bed and we can promote an active academy that trains them from a young age  to be effective members of the work force or military." He gestures at the teams around the mechs, "These kids may not be training to kill, but when the time comes, the mech will be like a second skin, and they will not take the opportunity for granted."

"It sounds like a wonderful idea Sgt and i support this ideal wholeheartedly but you need to speak to somebody much higher in command then me if you really wish to see this become a reality... now what i can do now is help the kids here refine there skills and any others we pick up along the way"  She liked how he thought about building an academy but she had no authority to suggest such a thing could be possible at this juncture.

Garrat laughed "I'm not asking you to make it happen, I'm asking you to help me bend the right ears, and refine the Idea so it works better."  He looks at the children, "But helping them refine their skills would be excellent. They might even be able to build some simulators if you gave them the perameters or plans to build one with."

Kira sighed a bit was like Garrat wasn't listening but dismissed it as it wasn't a big deal, "I will do what i can Sgt" was all she said to Garrat as Missy then addressed her, "I can see what i can come up with during my free time but i can make no certain promise on a deadline"

Kira then glanced to the clock on her wrist, "Its getting late and i have preparations i need to do for the service tomorrow for my father... so i will need to be leaving soon"

"Then I better give you a quick tour of the ship so you can find your way around next tome you drop by."  She led them out into the forge.

The staging area for the foundry lay between the two deconstruction decks facing onto massive crucibles of molten metal over watched by maned platforms with complex control screens.  Energy fields allowed them to pour from any level in the mixture of the main crucible, another used zero gravity to suspend the metal in a floating ball heated with ion burners from all sides, still others used complex systems she couldn't identify.  The center space of the forge opened to the entire height of the ship divided into 4 35 to 40 foot sections, the top and bottom ones being much smaller in the tapper of the ships frame.  Bellow them the molds and forms were jockeyed into place by great mechanisms and specialized fork lift like machines operated by sweating workers of both genders.  Some were immediately pounded by power hammers, others were shipped to the back of the room where a massive lift was in constant motion between the levels of the room. Above huge processing machines milled raw metal into usable parts and bays assembled great pieces of machinery or large pieces of structure.  The forth level was entirely taken up by a massive crane and ventilation systems.  Aft of the foundry the four great engines in the usual Largan diamond configuration sat waiting to convert electrical energy into forward thrust.  The space between them was large enough to have a scrap bay and engineering.  In the scrap bay, the tenders brought pure pieces of metal like armor that could be immediately dropped into the crucibles,   Above it was the engineering center of the ship, a massive control room monitoring the thrusters across the entire ship, and acting as a backup bridge for life support and energy distribution.

FLEX-  Garat bussies himself working on his mech while the women do their tour and when Kira returns he takes her and her mech back to the Hermes.  He talks to Missy about making hover bikes from the spare parts retreaved from fighters [will rp it later, it looks like Missy has her hands full describing the LG] before going and catching the end of the party.

Catching a ride with some pilots where he desccused ground suport concepts, he found himself on the rooftop between the penthouses lookong across the station.  The midgardians sure knew how to build a station, if only they were better at maintaining them.

He awoke in the morning leaning against the rail.  Without the adrenaline of battle to bolster him he was suseptable to a narcaleptic moments since his last spacial jump if he didn't get suficiant sleep the night before.

(Flex)   The Largan had led Gyrisk up to the scrapping deck then been called away to do some repairs on a maneuvering thruster.  He had been available for the discussions on the deck and tour of the ship.  If he wishes to flex a conversation about anything with anyone great.  If not he can have found his way back to the Hermes when Kira was taken back.
