In reply to Justin (msg # 2):

Acknowledged Etna, swinging to upper Flight Dec Justin responded altering his course, noting the different whirls, creaks and pips the fighter produced. Closing on the Hangar Bay he eased back on the thrustets bringing the invalid fighter to a stop. Popping the canopy he saluted the Flag and Deck Controller then clambered out.

the hanger  dec  was hard to see  at first... until you got  closer.... then  a slit appeared... that slit   got  wider and higher as you approached the Station...

Then Justin was lost in the  sheer Mass of the  metal that covered the   top dome of  Etna. Meta Glass as thick as a Destroyer Hull  made it possible for hin to Look down at the  Mountain... But  the tiny dot of a fighter had to be careful as it made is  way to the 1/2 mile wide hanger dec.

slowly entering the Massive opening.. he  saw 100s  of  ornage suited  crew  running about... 100s  of SEC... and  clumps of pilots  standing  near  rows...and rows... and rows...of  Fighters.. Darts  and HAmmer Vas..pained in the Mutli colors of Etna's fleet.

Dec Bosses  ran around controlling traffic.. and   Justin to  the darker section  where  repairs  were made...

a double deck set of offcies  were there.. all with Kill lists and   'big boards' handing next to each door.

The  traffic controller   stopped  him  and Motioned  for him to dismount. A Orange suited  CAptain came striding up to him with a Vid Board.

He saw  a Carrier/station's    factory  at work...  Hulls  being  brought up as  Humans  and  robotic  arms   began to  build  aircraft.

The Captain waited for Justin to acknowledge him

The size of this facility was impressive as was the number if Militar Personell and equipment it contained. As the Tec Captain approached Justin snapped to attention his hand holding his helmet against his side, thus no salute was required.

A Battered  Fighter from the Achilles was coming   in, and the CAptain nodded to Justin as he went to meet that pilot.

Thank you Sir Justin replied. He'd learnt not to offer coment or express any form of disagreement to comments made by ranking Officers. Crossing to the indicated Dart he waited for the Tech to give him the thumbs up before seťting off.

He  saw the  Achilles Pilot   stumble out of the  Cockpit. He  landed on his feet though and saluted the CAptain while his  helmet spun around on the   dec plates

The Captain pointed towards the Line  where Justin stood.

The Tech said while he  chopped on  some  gum,..Ok  Hermes' s Boy.. take this one....  he pounded the   nose

The Tech  pushed his baseball cap up  as  he chewed his Gum and grinned a bit,..look?.. no offense there  ace?.... but  when you ferry  fighters?  they don't  normally send thier  top jocks?..Think you'll see Fenwick from Athrna?.. or your  LC here?.. not   damn likely... they send folks so they can log a ferw more  minutes in machines....

The Achilles pilot finally caught  his helmet and was on his way towards  them.

Lets go Ace... there's gonna be alot of your  humming birds here soon... gotta keep things moving.

Justin gave the Tec a Thumbs up, it wasn't long ago since he'd would have jumped at the opportunity himself if it was possible to get the opportunity. Quickly climbing aboard he powered up cheched with Flight Control for approval. The instant it was given he tapped the thrusters to hurtle the Replacement into the Black. Tapping in flight co-ordinates he quickly returned to the Hermes changed over to the next damaged kite.

Ooc are there any replacement pilots on tbe Hermes who'd appreciate extra flight time? eg the pool pilots

Justin makes the run just as quickly as he did the first. He expected a slight delay for the Space traffic control but they appeared to be handelling everything as Kites from the different Capitals streamed in to take advantage of the Old for New. Landing he followed the Flight crews direction indicating where to park the Dart, powered down exited reported to the Captain for next assignment. When in line he greeted out some of the other pilots waiting for their turn.

this   time,  Justin was  in a line behind 14 other  fighters. The Hector...  Romulus..Nemesis and others  lined up  , some chatting to each other..others looked bored.

A Pilot from the Ares  was  just  taking off.

the  older fighters  would be   taken by over ehad  crane to the   repair  area to be  fixed.. or torn apart.

The  Pilot nearest him was  a taller   fellow..still young. He  did not seem to have the  bearing of a Vet.

A Nemesis  insignia was on his   flight jacket...one thing  was odd.. was a small red demon skull pin on his chest,..the  skull was  split in half.

The fellow looked at Justin and  saw his  Hermes  Patch and became a bit  nervous.

..It is Commandeer Bornberry's  idea.... if you can  find a POD or  enemy shuttle that that is  floating around, and you  destroy it... you get a Cloven Skull. She  has a strict..'no prisoner'..code and  if you destroy one and its  confirmed, you get the skull..its like a  badge that says you  will follow the 'total war' code.

the slowly moved up the Line  as the CAptain  had to start handing tags to them..another  runner  from the  factory line  would return tags after 5 or  so, to make sure he had  enough.

..Me?.. When.. I lived on MArs  Colony... the  terraform didn't take like it was supposed to.. I mean there are giant swaths of Green, and  Good clear water... but other places are Just as Red and Dusty as before... Earth Council ignored the  wishes of   MArs   colonial Government  by wanting to ...'burrow into' Olympus Mons.. make it  an Armored    colony..but  Mars Colony wanted to preserve it?...anyway..Mars and Earth  aren't getting along  to well.. so they are sending  recruits to the Delta  Fleet.

..I had a  choice... join the  Dust farmers  to try and 'green' the Red?.... Join the MArines... or  fly....Flying seemed like the better  death...

Justin nodds appreciatively Seems like there is more and more problems Earth are causing. If they don't get off their asses soon I suspect they're in for a rude shock.

Your choice of the three shows you to have skills that are valuable; hopefully you'll be able to apply them and see this war to the end.

Justin runs a hand through his hair at memories of those times at the Academy. They practically shoved that concept down my throat. Such an unsupportive process. We've got the same chances as anyone in a recon - forward area has of survival. The more skill you have the better chance of survival if you keep your wits and don't get sloppy. Do you guys spend much time in the Sims. ooc are the Flight Sims on Hermes available for other Fighter Pilots in the Alliance?

Justin grimaces as he remembers his own errors in this manner. True, it doesn't help your prospects to get the Brass offside. Systematicly the line dwindles as each pilot is assigned a replacement Fighter adn heads out.
