She cursed in Vampic and fired two more times at it. She turned towards one of the techs. “Is that venom on that thing’s spines?” She gently cradled the pup still even as her fangs were bared. “It all right little one. The people that hurt you are dead.”

  The tech nodded,..Nivarian Spiker..that's what we call it anyway... the  poison, thicken the blood, so the creature  and freat  on its own time, once  its prey, or an attacker   dies.

 The   little larg's head looked aroudn at every movement, its sides starting to  goin  and out , like it was goign to panic.

Mortica forced herself to remain calm and bolstered her sidearm so she could scratch  around his ears again. “Shhh... it’s all right little one. It’s over now.” She turned to the tech. “Get me the antidote. You know the venom so get the antidote. I’m going to take my friend out of this room and away from the blood and screaming.”

She walked out and worked on calming the pup again. “You’re safe. I won’t let anyone hurt you. It’s over. You’re safe.”

  there  was only the elevator  to go up..to stand in for now, Unless she wated to leave the area.

  the  Tech  went to  a Cabinet  and pulled a small bottle, almost like the other  from a  Rack......this is made from a Nivarian plant, that is  poisonous to the spikers.. it thins thier  blood pout, and the venom is  weaker... we found that  if you inject it  , into the wound site..it chases  the  poison with  its enzimes... it...burns a bit..

 The LArg looked around , his ehad moving  back  and fort.. some gurgling   'grrs' from tie to time.

“Draw up the proper dosage and inject it into the wound. If anything...untoward happens Shoey will shoot you in the kneecaps.” She calmly instructed him, stroking and comforting the pup. “Are you still in pain little one? Do you want a little more?” She asked, showing him the bottle of pain medication.

  Teh  woman measure out  the  dose  takes out the spine and   inserts the  needle ,don't know how this will work with the way blood goes through your system

 Sje shakes her  ehad  as she slowly inject the  dose,..you are  talking to that thing, like it understands?.. Its  a lizard  dog... its sole purpose  in life is to kill and eat  things...

"My hope is it cancels out the effects of the venom and leaves my blood in a normal state. If not I imagine I'm going to find out rather quickly. And you are mistaken about him - he's intelligent and responsive. He's responded appropriately to everything I've said to him or every question I've asked him. Haven't you, little one?" She asked him.

  The woman watched he rCOM  clock, as her  eytes   flickered to the wound, he  talked  soft, almost tlaakign to herself,I was  on Nivar for about a Month, we were watchign them Train Largs  and Worts...if  you can call Worts  training....training...Anyway.. they cull out the runts of the largs, normally feeding them to  thier  pack mates.. the bigger they get, the more they get to mate.. sometimes they'll sell runts to  rich folks who want fancy dangerous  pets.....there are some people on this station, that used them for guard animals..But its  damn hard tomget them to think past eating and  killing..

 The little  larg just laid his head down again, watchign mila  an Henry, from the door.

Mortica kept stroking him, glad he had calmed down once away from the blood and violence which had come to a quick and decisive end. "There are exceptions. If they would train them differently and let the runts live they would be surprised with what they find. I think the runts compensate for their lack of size with more intelligence. There may also be exceptions amongst the full-sized but the training turns them into the killing machines they seem to want."

She looked down at him and nuzzled him gently. "I think little Gregor here is one of those exceptions given the behaviour I've seen from him already; he just needs to get past the trauma of what was done to him. The pain you people inflicted upon him, caging him, terrifying him to the point all he could do was lash out violently. I'm not going to cage him or hurt him. He knows he's safe with me. Have you ever seen him rest like this in anyone else's arms?"

  ..The Tech that brought him from the hosue were  many  creatures  were killed, right down to the pups and cubs.. This one was the only one left.. The  Girl  seemed to be able to handle him alright but was found dead a few hours  after  bringing it here..... the SEC  said it was an assissination ..but  I couldn't tell if it was.

"How did she die and how long ago was this?" Mortica asked, her interest piqued. "The SEC that investigated, were they wearing special stripes on their uniforms or different coloured helmets?"

    I think the term being used, for the time being, is  'Blue SEC'..they didn't talk about it much.. but tehre has been some Assassinations  going on, nothing like you people seem so fond of... but..they have been boaderline  movers  and shakers, who were too heavy to the APF  side.

 ..Doc Heter  was like that.... damn shame.. i don't know where i'm going to earn the creds he was paying.

 The Blue SEC trooper  came  back in,..this leads to the access  tunnels.. for  takign out trash, sending and receiving goods,   tehre are also intersection  with other  access tunnels  for   helping  maintain the station.

"Dear God is money all that concerns you? The fact that you have a little girl in there with a chip in her brain that's taken away her free will is all well and good as long as you have a fat bank account, right?" She shook her head. "What you were doing here was evil, pure and simple and not for the ESN or APF but for the Empire. Our targets are Empire, EDT, EVOL, and their allies. You go look at every ship in every fleet from the ESN and APF and you won't find a single child in a cage, a single person with a chip in their brain, or a charnel house like this."

She stopped as the SEC trooper came back. "And for Heter to move his projects out which likely connect back to those massive structures being raided in the Stem. The whole core of this station is rotten with the Empire and their lackeys. I want everyone here who worked for Heter placed under arrest and remanded until transport to the Hermes. Lock down all back accounts and confiscate all cred chips you find. We'll bring what we clear out of here to the Hermes. You-" She pointed to the tech -"will stay with me for the duration. We shall wait and see if the antidote to the venom was effective and then we'll decide if there's anything left of you with a soul worth salvaging."

She went back to quietly stroking the little pup and scratching around his ears.

 Shoey   meat the data miner and pointed to the  control deck area.. these two guys will guard you... I want everything  from the ahrd  drives and any discs you find.. then I want you  to purge the  disk drives and light them up..

 Teh mousey looking  guy nodded ,..but..sir?  what if  i mess up and  don't find out until after  i wipe it?

"You, with me." She told the tech and walked upstairs to the second floor lab. She walked over to the Avian tied to the table and apparently operated on whilst still awake. "What's your name?"

 The avian was scared..it s  large  eyes  rolled  back and  forth, it  couldn't  twitch its neck like the normal do..

  The little LArg  Growled  an snapped at the  Avain.. the Avain grew more scared...

Henry called for a medic to come and take the child, then came over to Mortica.

"You are doing a wonderful job with the pup."

He looked round the lab. If it was set up correctly there should be a decontamination shower for chemical spills. That might help clean up Mila a bit, he could feel her distress.

 in the  2nd  floor  Lab,  there is such a shower,  when  they enter there and Mortic starts  talking to the Avain, he spies it..

 Etna  SEC  had  cages being pulled, some of the creatures  were known to Henry...a Lonnox… a Burian  fur covered spider... there were  earth-type  foxes, most likely bred out  here.

  The  SEC had to shoot  some subjects  with  darts to put them to sleep, soo the cages   could be  moved, with our fear of an SEC  trooper being harmed.

  A Large Ape of the ape folks troopers, an LT, by his markings  got off the lift with two  troopers  one  was a Apefolk Human..the other  was a halfbreed ape-human... all three of them were taller   and wider at the shoulder the  Supe.

 The LT stops  by Henry,..I am Lt  Jiver.. i am now in charge of the  clean up.... we are to take the   specimens  to  the  LAb ships..were they will be tested, if possible they will be  released on thier  home world, or a world they can survive in... if  not they are to be kept for Bio-tech study.... there is also, a rather  irritating  human up staird.. she is being held  for you to take to the Hermes..or?.. left her   here and we will deal with her  our way.

"Thank you, Lieutenant. I'll go and speak with her once Mila's a bit cleaner."

He positioned Mila and operated the shower, trying to wash as much blood out of her fur as possible.

Mila  stod there.. disgusted...  Henry was feelign  waves off revulsion   as the spell of the  rat guts   was 'refreshed' by the wters..

 She looked up mournfully at  Henry as  the blood and bits  slowly went away.

 an SEC trooper  handed Henry a  can of soap foam, techs  cleaned their hands  with...it  smells  like a doctor's office?.. but at elast   she should feel better...

“Thank you Henry, he makes it easy. I think he might be like Larry. He seems to have taken a liking to me.” She smiled down at the pup cradled in her arms

“Lt. Cawes I will do everything I can to get you back to your people.” She looked at the tech. “Please give the Lt. something for the pain and treat his wounds.”

“Lt. Jivers, Lt. Blackthorns. All of the surviving workers are to be taken into custody pending transfer to the Hermès. This tech will be coming with us as will my friend here. Dr. Christie will decide what to do with the child. Hopefully she has family we can return her to.” She indicated the little pup who was resting in her arms.

  The tech  who was gettingpain meds said,Ma'am?.. this Avain was  a captured pilot, who shot up a rear area?.. he was brought down by tank MGs...and captured...do we want him..'back with his people? "

 LT Jivers  grunted  as   3 more  ape folk came  off the left from the first floor, he waved them to the  lift to take them down to the third floor,..This  fire team, also consisted of  one, of each  race of the Ape  folk people.

 The Sgt Nodded  with a  fist to his chest and carriers on with his team.


 The Pup  was  gettign uneasy in the  Lab.. , it  jerked its  head  around  when a   noise was heard  suddenly..or  a yelp of  pain.. or the  'thuck' of a dart gun.

 Mila  was   clean.. wet and dripping, she  still lookedforlorn, but  at elast she didn't radiate  disgust..

"Good girl, Mila. Sorry about the disinfectant smell, but it is an improvement."

He turned to the others. "The Avian is a prisoner-of-war in that case. Treat him accordingly. Unless he wants to enlist..."
