“Copy that, Garrat. I’m not sure what direction we need to go in but I’m going to organise this lot whilst we work it out.” She turned to look at the positions of their ad hoc force and began to split them so they covered each side of the tunnel.

“Watch your spacing. Move with your weapons at shoulder height and scan everywhere. Watch your bunching up, close but not too close. Like that, perfect. You two, in the rear on either side of the tunnel, you have our backs. Make sure no one gets behind us. Call out contact if someone hits us from behind.”

She nodded to Garrat, somewhat pleased by the disposition of their forces.

   Stoly stood  around, he looked  about as they  waited to form up......we  all know  our vans  and  that cycle aren't going to be there when we come back..right?

  Robbins  chuckles,..I bet the one Rutledge drove will be!

Mortica smiled at Garrat. "I'm just here to look pretty and shoot things. We're in a warren of tunnels we don't know and could wander for who knows how long, we could follow the footsteps or peel a few off and send some teams to recon the tunnels. I'm leaning towards recon vs. continuing to wander and hope we come across something."

She heard the van comment and gave a half ass grin "At least I didn't fart....then we'd know Larry would have been with us"
Nikki realized their voices were echoing and carrying further in the tunnels.  In a very low voice she passed info to the persons right behind her "Our voices carry....be a good time to go on using hand gestures" she let them know.

 Turning   North.. the    small  army moved  forward. Nikki  tracking.. Mortica    wary...

 now  and then  they wopuld see a  smal skeleton with bones  scattered  and , have been gnawed on... sometime s  skeletons of   Stem rats.. one Skull was  near as big as LArry's head.

 Nikki stopped,,,,as  did Mortica.

Mortica turned to Garrat and whispered, “Voices, a lot of voices ahead. There’s a large group and activity.”

   Garrat looks for any side tunnels or rooms to duck into.

 only side  tunnels  are the intersection at  each Block...

  "All right Mortica, let's see what you can do, but observe and return only.  Just remember, I shot the last guy who failed to follow orders.  I'm counting on you to show how reliable your people are."

Nikki stops them silently.  Going in the northern tunnel as well were the boot impressions as well as someone or thing being dragged.  The marks looked vvery fresh as sand and dirt had not fallen inward into the depressions. She nodded agreement to going north.

Zob followed suit as he followed the group north staying further near the back, 'I hate tunnels...' he thought to himself.

Mortica’s eyes shaded to crimson and she bared her fangs in what may have been a smile as she started moving forward towards the sound of voices and activity. She hugged the wall and slipped from shadow to shadow.

   Garrat is nervous himself.  While he waits He pops open a tin of his cinamon stick things [found a civilian who will put them together for a cred or two a piece]  and sticks one between his teeth under the visor and offers to Zob and the others. "It may not be a cigar but it gives you something to grind your teeth on and cuts through the stench down here."

   Then he closes the case quietly and prepares his gear for no mercy.

    The march trough the tunnel was slower  as they tried to   keep  quiet, some of the gangers   will sweating... more  nears  then  anything   else..

  echos of  metal  , some shrieks of   fear or   pain echoed  down towards them.  Crying sounds  and wails   would  be ehard  as well, with  every few moments..increasing the  sound.

  shouts, of  what could be   orders.. or  threats.. and.. a very faint  feel of   ice cold  breeze.. now and again.

   When the sounds were close enough Garrat brought the group to a complete stop. “We kill anyone who isn’t a slave.  Whether they are coming from front or behind.  We do it quietly for now to preserve the element of surprise.  Those of you who are involved in the gangs, you are to hang back and provide cover fire.  Be careful with your shots, friendly fire will get you in slightly more trouble than not helping and it is unlikely you will come through the experience intact.”

  while they   watched the fighure Up ahead.. Nikki  not far behind her... Mortica  reached   the second  ..intersection  down, from where they had  turned  norther..

 Mortica  sees   a  great deal of light   coming from  both port and   Starboard  intersections.. the sounds  echo  lower.. the  Voices harsh..or  pleading.. the screams of pain, or  terror.. and the wails of  young voices.

 There  are   sounds of Hyper  drivers..  hammering...The North  'wall' she  stood  at, should not  be there.. But heavy plates  were set in place, welded, melded  and riveted in place, as though it was part of a Hull...…….

She turned back and headed for Garrat. “Sounds like they’re using slave labour to the port and starboard. There are metal plates that look like hull plating. It almost looks like they’re building a ship down here. The problem is we’ll have enemy forces mixed with the slaves and we need to hit both sides simultaneously with no idea of size or disposition of their forces.”

   Garrat frowned, The building of the ship was something new but the ret he had already figured out. "That's kinda why I wanted you to scout so we could get more information.  I that all your willing to gather?"

   It was looking like a larger operation than their team could handle, but he needed to makes sure.

“Oh no, that’s a prelim report. I’m about to go back and see if I can get a look inside but wanted to give you van idea of what we’re looking at.”   She winked before slipping away and back into the shadows, making her way to the entrance port-side.

  The Vampic   makes her   way back to the ..now..dead end north passage, and  turns to the port side... the closer  she gets , the Louder the noise.. when she  reache3d the Port intersection, she can see to the south.. a pair of  Guard.. look like humans... that sat in old  chairs   with weapons across thier  laps.

 looking  around inside, she saw a guard, about  10 Yards  from her.. The Female Human was   sitting on the  top of a  , roughly mad  stair that lead   down wards...

  The full effect  suddenly hit her... whom ever  was here.. had  cut  down through the next two  levels of the Stem.. Water  pipes had been tapped  to use   to get water, without  the Station being alerted by Auto systems, that there was a leak.

   In the Middle of the  metal crater... was  an  homemade, airlock, at least  the size  of one of the Hermes  Hanger dec openings..  There  were   living spaces , and what looked like shops.. around the circle... with  all manner of Humanoids  walking  around, almost all of them armed... Hillites, Creshian,  a few demons.. many largrans.. There appreared to be some Verians?... as well as   the gold skinned  Nivarians...there was a squad  on Vampic  troopers  with a  Male wearing   the  Crimson and Black armor  of  a Major..on the    very bottom  ring, were   jagged cut   pens.. with  scrap metal used  for   bars in the from, and in the top  the  sides  and Back were still  part of the stem structure...

 Gavas... Human adults... Human kids... Sanri  and Occui were   pretty  common in  cages.. while  Burain green folk and even some green Angels   were kept in  a pen themselves.... some cages    had  animals packed in.. LArgs..Worts..  two small  naragrans ( about the size of  a cow) where in a  cage

  kids  were screaming.. some   reaching out to through the bars.. even though they could not see where the adults  were... meanwhile a crew of   humans  and Hillite were  sealing on the  North  Middle  section  across the   gulf of this   , homemade crater.

The sight before her was enough to give even the centuries old and hardened woman pause. No one had any idea the size of the operation that was being run right beneath the feet of people above them. This was slavery on a massive scale being run by most of the races the ESN and APF called enemy whilst allied races were in pens.

Her eyes shaded deep crimson at the sight of the children in the cages and her fangs extended to their full length.

Their force was far too small to take on an operation of this size. They would need to deploy a large contingent from the fleet to shut this down and free these people. She slowly began to back out, sticking to the shadows as she made her way back to their small unit.

  As  she was ready to Turn.. a Voice  from one of the Two guards  shouted..hey!..You there !..Stop!

 The two got  up and began to  run   rtaisign thier   weapons... one of the  Hit a  Button on his COM.

"Fecior de curva!" Mortica cursed in Vampic and raised her rifle and put three suppressed rounds into the chest of the one who was doing something with their COM.

"I'm made!" She said over her own COM and backed up, ready to fire at the other guard and then race back to their team at Vampic speed. "They have a damn army down here, far too many for us. I suggest we fall back in all haste and call for heavy reinforcements from the fleet. We may need a battalion based on what I'm seeing."
