Re: OOC #!8

THought it was.  It sticks out for me.  I tried to give the new guy a fail safe way to take out a target and establish a palce on the ship, when I should have snuk through the brush and used that rifle to do the job myself.

I also mis understood how late I was coming to the game and rushed things, changing my game plan for the worst.

I know it's just a game but that one still irks me.

Re: OOC #!8

So, I don't normally post links to YouTube stuff here...but I stumbled across this.  It's not a music video...not even close.  But I found it intriguing.

And, at one point, they're shooting a couple of blocks of ballistic gel, and they've got a super-slo-mo shot of it.  If you've ever wondered why Roy doesn't worry too much if he hits a target close to center torso, that gel is a spectacular demonstration of 'hydro-shock'...demonstrates what high-velocity rounds do to internal organs, even when they don't hit directly...

Hmm? Good to know plasma weapons have been banned by the ESN, was not informed about that... speaking of which what other restrictions are there?

Re: OOC #!8

It's not so much an outright ban, as it is just a refusal by the ESN to use plasma weapons.  I mean, nobody told anyone who had any of the captured weapons that they couldn't keep them.  Nobody told Garrat he couldn't build his prototype, or that he had to dispose of it.  It's just that nobody in the ESN command structure considers the benefits of plasma weaponry to outweigh the liabilities.

And Roy actually has done that 'shoot the plasma weapon' trick to enemy troops, a few times.  It did to them pretty much exactly what he was afraid would happen to the Hermes troops if anyone shot theirs.  So he's very happy that people aren't currently carrying plasma weapons on any of his assignments.

I'm not certain if Zob was around  with accidents   we had  with plasma when we  found the Demons and was  taken the ship... I'd  have to check, but I think  we lost an NPC do to someone using  a Plasma  grenade..

anyway, an unstable weapon like that on a ESN..vessel could be deadly..or at very least, cause a lot of deaths

go wayyyyyyyyyyy bacl to teh old Cowboy movies   as they tried to move Nitro across the country.. there are a few movies    that have that  a big part of the  plot.

now  image   the  old movie of the Blob, and  mix the two together.

Re: OOC #!8

Actually Garrat wasn't the one to build a prototype.  That was a PC in the tech deck who was working with AI's.  Her plasma weapon generated and projected a steady thin stream of plasma and required special coolant for the generation process so that the weapon wouldn't overheat and set of the energy pack.

Asgard plasma weapons shoot the equivelant of a lightning bolt as per the definition of plasma in contemporary science.

The odd thing is, the student software company - Beautiful Canoe - decided to call me 'Wise Owl Megan' when I was teaching them how to do technical documentation... and they hadn't noticed the owl necklaces.

There are 2, one conceals a watch, 'cos I don't like having something around my wrist. In my office, there are several plush owls, a couple of metal ones, and a mug that says "Beware the mad owl lady".

All this talk of owls is coinkie-dink odd.  This morning when I opened my blinds at sunrise (sun was not totally up and it is over cast so it was a steely blue grey out...real pretty), there is a naked crabapple tree I can see from my computer room window and there was a large northern owl sitting on one of the branches.  he was gorgeous!  probably looking for voles or shrews (both plentiful here).

I have  a  plush owl on my Bedroom dresser,  one of my old gamer friends  from Mississippi  set it to me, it had a   card to  get a star named  after  my wife when she passed..  I never  did it, because the tag was old, but  I  still have the owl, with her note  attacted.

Niki..make the owl was hoping you'd give  him Henry's  email and he  could go fly there?

I can try.  He did fly off but I think he'll be back.  More voles and mice lately.  My old cat used to keep the numbers down by himself (he could catch them like greased lightning...until old age started getting to him and he finally passed on at almost 20).

this is what the little guy looked like.  thought he was a juvenile, but he looked more like this one.  He was so cute.

Re: OOC #!8

There's an owl...or owls...who has either taken up residence at the park since we closed for the season, or has made the park part of its hunting grounds.  I haven't seen him...but I heard him a couple of nights ago as I was leaving work.  If it's the one I saw a couple of years ago, it's a horned owl...he swooped in and landed on a cable for one of the rides and just watched me walking through the park.

If it's the same one, I hope he doesn't hunt any of the feral cats on the park.  But we've definitely had issues with mice, rats, and racoons, and I'm happy to see anything that hunts any of those.
