Yeah...most of my dining in Vegas has been at buffets...and even then, prices range drastically depending on where you are.  A beffet in the 'downtown', Old Vegas area can be $15-20, for beakfast or brunch.  A good bargain buffet down on the strip is, like, $40-55 for brunch.  Lots of good food...but I don't think the food on the Strip is THAT much better.  If you're ever down there and want a good deal on food, but not a huffet, hit Hash House a-Go-Go, in the Plaza downtown (I also think they've got one at The Linq, on the Strip, but I haven't eaten there.)  HUGE servings, and prices comparable to, say, Applebee's or Chili's.

But the fine-dining restaurants in Vegas gouge you, especially if they have a good view.  Last year, a guy in our group was having a birthday, and his very-well-off mother paid for us to have dinner at one of those restaurants, at the Rio.  The food was good...but you were definitely paying extra for the ambience.

Well starting my Holiday by getting 'Jiggy' with it.  less than 10 minutes ago we just had a 5.4 quake.
Living in Alaska it is kind of common, but timing is just a tad odd.  lol
Two years ago we had a couple of strong ones (over 7.0).  One about 1am (it did some damage) and another just about an hour before I was leaving to go to a wedding out of state.

Where in Alaska do you live? I spent a few years there with a programme that lets foreign doctors live and work whilst doing a residency for under-served populations. I was in Barrow, Bethel, and Anchorage working at the native hospitals and loved it there.

In reply to Nicole Rutledge (msg # 32):

I was in Anchorage when that 7.1 quake occurred. I ended up with a painful back strain because the bloody thing nearly tossed me out of bed.

I ended up by my couch after my cat (now gone) decided during that quake he had to be outside and ran head first into my glass porch door, then his in the fireplace.  I sat on the floor next to my couch until it was over.

might not be so great right now.  lol.  apparently we also have a volcano going off out towards the Aleutians.  At first when I heard 'volcano eruption' I thought it might have to do with nearby Redoubt volcano...nope a bit further out..Its Veniaminov! (most of our volcanoes have a blend of native Aleut and Russian names).  Anyhow it is spewing ash and some lava.  If we do get ash fallout it will be a dusting, but most of the volcanoes are strato or compsite cones and can explode violently.  Novrupta (aka Katmai), back in 1912 and was the largest eruption in that century (including Pinatubo).  what can I say...Alaska today is just a rocking and a rolling, shaking and baking.

I was in Anchorage when the fires were burning all around and the air was foul with smoke. I had ash on my car every day when I left for work at ANMC.

Yeah...hard to block a guy when you can't see him until he hits you...his shoulder line is about even with the solar plexus on some of these guys.  Even with pads on, a solid hit right there is gonna take something out of you.  And he's a freakin' tank...not the fastest thing on the battlefield, but if you don't set up right, he'll roll right over you.

There was a guy on my high school football team (which was terrible when the school first opened...won three games in three years, and the first year they won nothing...the year after I graduated, they won the state championship).  He ran like a tank...if he had half a hole in the line, he'd get seven or eight yards, usually with four guys hanging on him before they finally dragged him down.  If he made it through the line clear, he was usually good for fifteen to twenty yards.  And he didn't take any of the steam off when he was blocking.

yep.  Verians  are heavier  by nature. Lilit, Dusk, Shade ( and  one must figure there  are others  out there) have Musculature , instead  of  bio-gears and  such.

One of the reasons  Teela had  to strain ( and  roll to see) when she picked  Shade up the avalanche , was to see if  even , Angel strength  could lift him..

As he gets faster.. he  can be  more dangerous
