The Admiral  watched the   screens... It wouldn't take more then a  day...mabye a little more, , before  the Paradise  planets  felt what a real war was . Skith , with  back up from  APF assets from Occui and Sanri, and the Moons offering   asylum for Paradise angels  who will fight the    'old order'.. Paradise was going to have its  hands  full.

 beth  shook her  head as she watched, the   PSN Feeds were getting  quiet now, a few of the random  view  still showed some fighting, but, now that the truth was revealed...Angels  who felt one way or the other, were beginning to  talk and  take care of damages and wounded.

 Our Galactic map?... that's just our  neighborhood?  there might be bigger fish to fry , and the Qarl isn't the kind of people who make very many friends.

  Shadow  took one last   look at the screen...we? one more stop at the rec dec,  see  if Roles has anyhting to tell us... You coming? he looked  at Larry who titled his head, as  if to say..'i just got here.'

Izzy silently watched as events unfolded before her, quietly shocked that the intel she’d gathered had led to such a spectacular outcome. Hearing the admirals voice Izzy would tear her eyes away from the exploding ships on screen to look at him as she replied “Yes sir, thank you sir, I’ll be sure to get everything we need” Izzy babbled as she threw a hasty salute still clearly stunned by the events she helped put in motion.

With her now released to have a little down time Izzy would head for the rec dec where she hoped to spend a little time with a certain red head.

Roy grinned at Scarlett.  "I don't know for certain, but I get the feeling the Skith see the Angels as about as much of a threat as the Angels saw us when they first decided to stop playing deific beings and reveal themselves for what they really were.  They could have easily handled a two front war with us on one front.  And, truth be told, I'm not all that convinced that the Qarl are that significant a threat on a second front.  I mean, we've managed to hold our own against them a few times without the Skith there, in spite of their cloaking tech and jump drives, and the Skith are way ahead of us when it comes to coping with those technologies."  He shrugged.

"That may be a highly optimistic appraisal...but I've never yet seen a Qarl ship win against the Skith, and nobody in the last thousand years has seen a Paradise ship win anything against anybody.  Paradise has their primary fleet deep in Sol space right now, the Skith are gutter-stomping what defenses there are in the Paradise system, and damned near all the Angels outside of Paradise have already thrown in with the APF.  I don't see them providing much more than an annoyance, if they manage to rally enough forces to head back to Paradise.  More likely the survivors are going to hunker down at Olympus and Sol and pray that the Demons actually deliver on all the tough talk they've been spouting for the last thousand years...despite the fact that the Demons have had their asses handed to them every time we've crossed paths."  He shrugged again, and added, "Even if they don't...I'm not worried about Paradise providing any sort of significant threat."

 When everything was done and big wigs where coming to the Hermes for a meeting, Meari found out that her Grandmod and Cousin where coming and needed an escort. Meari volunteered to be their escort and headed for the Hanger Dec too meet them.

Roy's face was an inscrutable grimace as he contemplated the situation.  "Agreed...we can't let an incident like that just slip.  Even if it hadn't happened in front of witnesses, it should be addressed, but the fact that it apparently happened in a med bay full of people...that, we can't just wave a hand and dismiss it."  He shook his head slightly, and added, "Especially not when it happened in the middle of a boarding action.  We're supposed to be fighting the enemy at that point, not each other..."

   Giles  sat in a Chair, he had a soda  and a donut.. Nagy stood in the doorway, which he had open, as he , maria  and  a pair of rookies   were Hunkered   down behind.

 The Corporal was  walked over  with a stern Looking Stefi.. he  entered, Gave Giles  a Look.. Giles  looked up at him. chewing  a sugar  donut with  power on his lips,The left eye was  Black, the nose  had  stopped bleeding. but   red  and blood stained.



 Stefi pointed to a chair, deeper into the  Office. The taller man took the  seat, his left cheek was  blue  and swollen , his  eyes   were both blackened  and his  nose  was  crooked.. his  Lower lip  was  spilt  with a bit of  plast to hold it together.

 Bale, Morris  and    The  SM entered.Alright  LT Simmons... what happened...and why do you think its a must to take care of it  now...

 The Must, General is too many  people saw the  fight... I can't  handle that myself..had it been  anything, except under fire..i would have...

 The  taller Guardian  had an almost clean  uniform in the front, save from where his  blood dropped  down...his back as covered from being on the floor,  in the med tech floor.... Giles was covered  with  Argies Blood on his  shoulders , back and chest.. Blood on his  knees from pounding on the other Guardian..Blood  all over his   right arm  were he   tried to drag the   dead med  tech in...

 I sent   Guardian Giles to SEC after the fight was over....but he seems to have been sidetracked...

 Nagy cleared his throat,Aye  Ma'am... we were  holding our station to prevent  anyone from getting to  Bio tech or  med tech.. Giles   went to Help the Master Chief
 and her  people  hold the line at that deserters  Fighter....as soon as the   enemy surrendered, he then came  up here.

 Stefi  shook her head.. Giles  took another bite of  the donut looking around at everyone, clearly not  understanding  much, but a bit apprehensive...The Older    Man crossed his  arms  and  gave   Giles   aa disgusted look.

Roy gave a sigh that spoke volumes about annoyance with the whole situation.  "Well...who wants to tell their side of the story first?  You'll each get a chance to tell us everything you want about it...and the other will KEEP THEIR TRAP SHUT until it is their turn to talk or until we start asking questions to clarify any points.  I'm not in any mood to referee an argument...we're supposed to be busy fighting the enemy, not each other.  So, someone speak up."

His decision to not choose one specifically was exactly that...a decision.  He intended to observe the actions and reactions and let those observations inform his judgment on the matter, because he had no question but that there would be contradictory details in the stories they told.

 Corporal  Aungst,  Listed  as  Mec Tech 1 Guardian...I'll  Go..My rank allows for that, I should think.

 Bale  made no emotion.. Lyri   had  stopped In and  smiled at   Giles, who was still innocently munching the last of his   Donut. Morris  gave her a  small shake of his head, he  she   had a look of Concern cross her face.

 My squad,  7 counting Myself, were  supposed  to cover  med techs brining   wounded in.. One of the   Grownds crew climbed into a fighter  and began firing... after a few moments,  the cockpit was hit, they called for Med tech.

 He Looked at  Giles, who was sipping  his  drink.'Guardian' Giles seems to think its out   duty to run into combat, to  pull  bodies out... wwe are guardains  for a reason... we guard  med techs, and you don't  become a Guardian unless you filed  for  'non-combat' roles

 Guardian Giles... he snorted the  name,Put is   friendship with  Chief Argie against his assigned  role..he wanted to go down  and Pull him out  and asked  for  some of the squad to  cover them..I would not allow it, Until a med tech was  a ready....a rookie Med tech, just signed from Etna..died  as they  Pulled   the chief's  body from the cockpit...The Guardian  then tried to Bring them Both in, even thought the Med tech
 was visibly dead, and  the Chief, most likely was as well..

  When  Lt Simmons  ordered us to  help Guardain Giles  we, brought the  Chief  in, he was tsaken to the OR... It was said, that  if the Chief would have made it into  the Med techa  few minutes  earlier..he would have Lived.... That's when Gile attacked  me

  For the first time   Giles  wanted to stay something, But Lyri shook her head.

 The Corp looked at  Stefi....I was  called a 'wussified Mull Humper' by the LT for not  going out there  sooner, when the first call was made... Gile. led that Med tech to her  death...

  Morris was tapping away on his Vidboard.

  Giles? Bale  asked.

  The Corp  stationed me 'out of the way'outside the doors/// when a med tech would  be  brining some one in, I would  run down and Cover them...they said i would  'get in the way' in the Med Tech ..

  I had  just  got a  fresh mag belt  from my carbine mags, when the Cockpit  was hit but a  rocket or something  the Largrans had.... One of the Ground  crew  called for a emd tech.. then another one Called.. I was  going to go down, the Corp said I couldn't go without a med tech..cause  we're not supposed to fight.... Mary..The Med tech   said she would  go,,and we went... we  climbed o the  Wing,, Me and the other ground crew folks
 covered her  while she foamed up Argie, and then we  Moved him, she  took a  round as she was ready to jump off the  Wing

  Giles was starting to shake with  anger...... He didn't  care... he didn't care.. he scoffed  when they said  he died.... a few Minutes?.. a few more steps?... two more  hands to pull him out of the Cockpit..   He Mocked  me..and Mary  for  trying to save him, and that's  when i jumped on him...  I was the one stationed outside.. it should have been..MY call..but they wouldn't listen..be cause they have  no guts!

  Aungst  just smiled...  Giles  was  trying to  contain himself.

 Giles?  Your were told to  report to  SEC after you.....

 Stefi snorted,Finished  beating up Aungst... Morris and BAle looked at Stefi  who shrugged...

 I was told by a Med tech?  I did not consider it a  Direct order... as i left med tech. Master Chief's team had  take up the  spot to hold against   and  breakthrough to med tech or SEC....SEC trooper  were there.. I reported to them, and helped   shoot   boarders.... when the threat ended... i reported to SEC proper...

 Morris   asked calmly...Giles?... why would you take it upon yourself to enter into combat as  a Guardian ?

The  rule says, Protect  med tech...and med techs in the field... the hanger dec  was  the field...we had Med techs  running around there... by  adding my rifle  to  the Master Chief's  team, I also  was able  to protect Med tech as well....

 Lyri  raised her  Hand, Morris  nodded to her.If  I May?  we were short a  rifle when Lippy was hit... Giles  did account for  dropping  a few of the attackers...... on that point , I will say, there was not other Retrieval Guardain outside the Dor..which is SOP, i believe?

 what  the  9 hells  do you know  about  Guardians, you're just a walking Gun..all this  fuss over  a groundscrew man?... is it because  he was Shadow's Chief? is that what this  about.. I was  attacked  in med tech..that's what this is about!

Roy began speaking...those who knew him would recognize the precise, clipped tones that denoted carefully contained anger.  "Corporal Aungst, according to your own testimony here, your assignment as a Guardian is to protect Med Techs.  Would you care to explain why you neglected that duty and let a rookie med tech proceed into an active combat zone with only one Guardian providing protection?  Because as I see the situation, there are only two answers:  either you have such a high estimation of Guardian Giles' abilities that you felt he needed no back-up, or you were derelict in your duties.  So which is it, Corporal?"

His features had darkened visibly when the corporal had explained that Giles had been the only one to go out, with a med tech that was responding to multiple calls for a medic...but whatever anger he felt was tightly contained, betrayed only by a narrowing of his eyes and the clipped tones in his voice.

Aungst looked at  Roy, the  lack of respect was  Easy to hear in his  voice,I was the Ranking Med tech of  My Squad. Giles has shown, repeatedly, that he is  as lose   of a cannon as  a Guardian  might be.... he always   moves  into Combat, and its always been boarderline, if there was a 'Med tech' in the area  for  him to have been there...The Rookie Med tech was too egaer..it  cost her  Life....Giles  led her there..its on him..I protected
 My  Squad  and the med tech Proper, with that many enemies  at doorstep  it  would
 be only minutes   Before LT Simmons  closed the Blast Doors and...

 The film rolled ..  a few rounds left the  fighter  , destroying one cargo  area,  and hitting a few times   , just past it..with out being able to 'turn' the aircraft..it was the best the  weapon could do..but it accounted for  dozens of  enemies...the  round  Hit  Blowing open the  metglass , Morris stopped it there..

 LT Simmons?.. seeing this  round  hit the cockpit, what would be your guess as to the  injuries...

..I would say the Rocket did  not  damage  the 'pilot' as much as the Metaglass would have... it would be  like getting shot in the  chest  by golfball sized  buckshot.... i will add to this, is, that is the  injuries  he had Foamed   up by Med tech Mary.... the loss of Blood was staggering, but  foam would have saved him if   they had  , say?  another Minute?.. he would would have been stable and  we could have  sealed  any bleeding off in OR...

 Maria  was  frowning, even though she had seen it all form her staion  with Nagy, at SEC's  doors.  14:52  , Captain

 he motioned for it to roll again, in 'real time'...    Giles    Called in again, then once more, , then started to   move towards the flight line..he  stopped  and yelled it at someone who was  talking to Him... Mary  had  rushed out of med tech said something  and the two sprinted towards the   Fighter... at this  time 3 more calls  for med tech, , including one  by a wounded ground crewman , as she  Pointed to the Fighter and yelled.

Time stamp....of Giles and Mary  running to the  aircaft..and when they reached it...

   Endre   went to Help as  two Largrans   reached the wing, he had to turn and  fire  as the other   crewman fought back the   first  few  Largrans to reach the  fighter.

  The Camer was pulled back by Maria  to show  the  fighter to the left...Giles struggling with Argie on his left shoulder  as he  Dragged mary with his  right arm..  Stefi was seen   at the Med tech doors in a bloody apron..she was shouting  for  people to go out and help...

   Morris held up a  pad  with tally marks...Five calls for  med tech  and/or retrival  by Giles, until  Lt Simmons  appears...Maria?

 16:42  when  Lt Simmons  orders   aid, Captain.

 two  med tech   and One guardian  come out, the  Guardian 'pointed' his rilfe in the genral direction as he looked wild  eyed.. the  Med techs  took   Mary,  and helped     Giles with Argie...

 The Can  switched to inside the med tech... Blood and Bodies all over, Med techs  covered in blood  switching out  aprons and Gloves.. while some bodies were bagged and other sent  to  rooms.

over  2  minutes, from the   first call..Lt Simmons?.. how much time would have been saved with Two  guardains and a med tech?..secondly.. what would have happened had   Guardian Gile  went on his own...

 two guardians?.. maybe a Minute and  a half..maybe a few seconds  more.... Had Giles  went down  at first Call, he has  foam on his  weapon's  belt.. Argie  would have been stabilized?  20 seconds into  the first call?

 Bale asked,would that have made the difference?

 Stefi snorted,of course!... all the blood that was lost from the  first call,Until Mary reached him, would have been saved?

 Proceed with the Film, Maria...

 the Film  moved  at real time,  with  a med tech and Guardiun Bagging Mary and moving her to the body stack, then Stefi  telling Giles  Argie was dead.... the effect on Giles   was massive   as he staggered a bit, while Aungst  had his arms  crossed  while  saying  something Smugly to   The young Guardian... another, rather arrogant look on Auingst face  as he  said something,  caused  Gile  to  attack him.....the film shows    Stefi watching   and stopping two med Techs  from intervene..  she can be heard to say, ;when he's done, send hito SEC..."

 Aungst pointed...see!.. he attacked me....

 Lyri chuckled.. I can see by your face he attacked you....

 Bale gave  Lyri a whithering  look, and she  found something on the Dec to stare at...but was trying not to laugh.

Gile  left  and started to Jog towards SEC when   Lyri and her team   reached the  fighter... , he promptly veered off to to the fighter  again, adding his  carbine to the fight... Fast forwarding  until  the threat was ended.. Giles spent all his Mags and even  had two Given to him  by PVT Zia LaCossi.

  he then  talked to Lyir  and    jogged up to Nagy and Maria, who let him into SEC.

 Guardian Giles?  why did you disobey an order to report directly to SEC....

 Begging your pardon , general? I did not receive a Direct order..I was told, By a med tech, that i should report to SEC..i was told to  go to SEC, i saw the  enemy at the fighter, and  thought i could help..the med techs  of  the  Flight dec  were under fire?.. the Med tech proper  was being threatened..and? I am a member of the  ESN 351 Hermes..so... I added my carbine to the defense of  her and her assets...

"One last question, which I think may be relevant to determining verdicts and sentencing..."  He turned and looked at Giles, then Aungst.  "Same restrictions still apply...one answers uninterrupted, then the other."

Fully cognizant that Aungst had claimed seniority (and rightfully so) when first asked to explain the events, Roy turned to Giles.  "Mr. Giles," he began, with the time-honored tradition of referencing a crewman by "mister", rather than rank, "What was it that Corporal Aungst said that incited your attack on him?"

He had, already, largely made up his mind about the course of action he would recommend for Giles.  He was now trying to clarify just what was to be done with Aungst.

  Giles Looked up...he shook his head.It was  what he said ..then..SM Spencer... LT Stefi?  she  said she need  3 Guardans  to go with a med tech to retrieve Arfiie... THAT'S  our  job....and the  LT was ordering it..... The Corp?  he  said   something about not being Shock troops and it wasn't our  Job..Mary....She   ran to the  door  and we both went...Then, when I was Coming back..Stefi orders  them to help me..and they went this  time....except the Corp.... He stood  there,, with that  grin like he has now...when the  Med tech  who bagged  Mary and Argie told me that Mary  , most likely died when she was hit..and Argie  could have been saved, but...i was late...

 He Kept staring  at me  with  that smiel,.. and   i started to get mad..and the next thing i knew   i had him on the ground...

 Lyri looked at Aungst...You have like  80 pounds on him!

 Naria   ggave a  short laugh,but?  he is not the shock troop, eh?

 Bale Looked at Stefi...Film shows  you let the fight go on....why?

 Stefi  eyes  went from Giles to Aungst, then back to general Bale..The Kid  Put up with crap like that from a Doctor  on Roussa... Dr Price  had  Giles, brought him home with her... we  filled out the transfers that same day....There isn't a damn one of us, who hasn't lost  some friends, or loved ones in this war.... you find out   you missed saving a freidn, by a pair of Minutes, because your 'Comrades' were Gutless... That bottle fills up quick....The  very Fact that he went to the Line after he left here, rather then Hide in  a holding Cell  until the roof  fell in...

 Morris  cleared his throat, and gave the two ladies a short shake of his head.

Roy shook his head.  "I've heard all I need to hear.  I know what my recommendations will be."  He gestured to his office.

"We can step in there if you feel we need any deliberations on the matter..."  His tone was clear...he didn't need to discuss anything for himself, but it might be worth deciding on the severity of punishment before making a final declaration.

 Captain Morris stood   while General Bale  took  Roy's desk  seat, he opened his Lap taop that he had  'official ' files in.

 Well , genetalmen? If the Admrial  were to handle this.. I think we both know here Aungst would end up.... But the whole thing  with   fighting while under fire, is an impoetant issue.

 Morris    gave a   slight jerk of his head, followed by a  shrug.There is alot of   gray in this?   Aungst  refused to  go...and his  squad stayed with him... Giles, is new, and sees  his job differently then Aungst... the fact Aungst things he is owed something bothers  me.

 Looking Up ar Roy , bale  says,Giles  move don ahead... partly because of   Stefi's orders to get Argie...and Partly because  he felt he should... I would say being friends  with the man, pushed  him alot harder?  i don't know?  Looking at the Files  on Mary, she was  a go getter, top of her  class in  Physical  grade,,, tech grades, and often led groups on Etna. If
 any one  would brave shot and shell it  would be her...

  We  were under fire?  And  Young Giles  went  right back into itwhen told to  left  Med tech

 Whatever  we come up with? We cannot leave them both in Med tech...I have My ideas.. what  do you have , SM

Roy grimaced slightly, then grinned a little.  "Well, as far as Giles is concerned...we MUST do something.  He attacked his lead NCO.  No matter how much Aungst deserved it is entirely secondary.  So..."  He glanced from one to the other, then continued.

"We bust Giles as a Guardian.  He's removed from the assignment.  We'll transfer him to Security...which is what he wanted to do in the first place and what his temperament is better suited for.  I'll loan him out to Stefi, if she wants...now, granted, anyone that knows him will consider it a step up as far as what he wanted to do, ultimately, but it will still reflect, on paper, that there are consequences for failing to follow protocols of military justice."

I must say, from the   stories i have heard, from  Dr  Pirce and some of the SEC troopers,  Giles never backed  down from entering into  combat, Nor  putting himself  between his charges  and the enemy?  they walk out  into  SEC..  Stefi  has her arms crossed talking with Lyri who is quietly chatting with her.. Giles sipped his  soda, having wiped off the sugar from his lips.

 Aungst  was  Glowering at the others. angry that  he is being treated  worse  then Giles.

Roy grimaced and nodded.  "Well, I don't think he'll interrupt formal proceedings.  And even Shadow will think twice before trampling on Stefi's toes.  He'd probably still do it...but he'll think about it first."

And then the announcement was made, and Roy shrugged.  "That should get us as far as the Hangar Deck before Shadow cooks off...maybe even all the way through the proceedings there.  I'm guessing this could be one of the few times Stefi turns a blind eye to Shadow's more homicidal instincts...but we'll see."

  The  doors Opened... Morris  and Roy came out first..Bales shortly after the announcment.
