Re: Herme's Bridge
Roy arrived, shortly after the briefing down in the Mission Room broke up, and made his way over to the ship's records station. "Commander wants me to check out the file on a new Recon Marine that came in on one of the latest shuttles," he said, hoping nobody was going to give him any trouble about it. "I don't have a name...but, really...how many Marines do we get joining the crew THIS far out?"
There was a moment's hesitation in the young ensign's eyes, but the fact that it was on Hack's orders--even if there was no confirmation of that--was enough. He remembered details...like the comm officer who got bawled out for not patching a Sergeant...named Spencer...through to the Commander in a timely fashion. And here was a Sergeant--with a nametag that read, 'Spencer'. The mental math was pretty simple.
He called up the records on his screen. "I can't give you a copy without the Commander's express authorization...but you can look here."
The file wasn't very long...the Marine was, really, just a kid. But a very impressive kid. No field experience to speak of, but tops in his class, every step of the way. And he had not only gone through Scout/Sniper school, he also played football...that meant he could translate Roy's words into metaphors that would make sense to Shadow.
Roy grinned a tight-lipped grin at his own joke, but didn't share it with anyone. He finished reading, and nodded his thanks to the records officer. "Any ideas where our young Marine can be found?" he asked. It didn't take long for someone to send Roy off to the Rec Deck...with promises to call him on the comm to update him with any changes, if Storm left before Roy could catch him.
