Re: QMs Lockers.

 WQell son..its hard to tell, but i'm thinkin' this here pistol is about half  charged. Its  an infantry officer's weapon, so i would have to say  it would be good  for  close to 60-- 70 dhots.

 he writes on a slip  as  another sailor, a woman, comes and gets the turned in gear and  lays them on another work bench, she returna  in a about 3 mimutes  with the rifle and the scope on..she hands Souza a screw driver  and says,check the setup  and adjust it before i lock it  down...

Re: QMs Lockers.

Anthony checked the rifle, he loved his rifle. Without his rifle he felt empty but now that he had he looked down the sights for a moment before he slid the bolt back, checking the chamber and nodded, "Well kept, finer quality than back on my old post, can I have two bullets if you would please before I get my ammo load out? I want to calibrate it at the range real quick before I head back out. And if you can may I get a quick plug in while I am working on my rifle, I could use as much as I can get before I go down." Anthony said as he picked up the screwdriver he was given and left the pistol on the counter, dropping the smoke grenades and requesting for a couple more grenades to be tossed his way if he can. He always wanted to be prepared, no matter what. Just like what happened today, bad info could turn into hell without quick action and enough bullets.

Re: QMs Lockers.

Anthony decided now would be the best time, he pulled back the bolt, sliding a bullet into the chamber before he slides the bolt forward, clean. How he enjoyed the feel of his rifle, polished and clean. Which he made sure it was, at all times. He moved toward the range and laid down, this was ridiculously close but he decided that it would be good enough. He knew it was out of protocol to load the rifle like he did but he wanted to be done and get out fast as he laid down the bipod on the rifle and let it lay where it was, moving his eye to see through the scope as he aimed.

He made sure to target the bulls-eye and fired, the bullet slamming high right as he watched through the scope and then finally after a few seconds moved his eye and then grabbed the screw driver.

1...2...3...4...snap

1...2...3...snap.

After the adjustments he lowered himself once more into his stance, sliding the bolt back once more to chamber the round, he could have easily just used the magazines he would soon be given and just replace the rounds be he decided doing it the old fashioned way would work just fine. He moved his eye over the scope one more time and watched as the scope moved in his usual pattern, up right then back down as he held his breath, the scope stopping before he exhaled, his eyes on the bulls-eye. He waited a few seconds after exhaling and then the shot rang out. Straight shot. He remained where he was for a moment, in the shooting position as he made sure to watch the shot before he slammed the safety into place and pulled out the bolt.

He walked back to the counter with a chuckle, returning the screwdriver and then looked toward the Quarter Master, "Thanks for watching my rifles, feels good to have her back." He said with another chuckle as he pulled the shoulder sling and placed his rifle at Sling Arms relaxing a bit at the comfortable weight as he made sure to cover the scope lenses with their protectors. His tuning didn't take him longer than 5 minutes so he was sure the gear would be ready for him to take as he expected: grenades, his rifle ammo, a few pistol clips from his secondary, and the new machine pistol he found with slightly more battery then what he had given.

Anthony walked in after a few moments to drop his gear off, returning everything he took as well as the automatic pistol, he thanked everyone he could and shook hands with anyone who wished it before he looked about and then at his watch. He had no idea what to do next, he wasn't exactly a sociable person so he decided to go looking for the Master Sergeant to see if he needed anything.

The ship was so large...most things people who live here took dfor granted took a new person longer to find. He finally made his way into the QM. He paused and looked around for uniforms. He suspected he would find something for medical personalle faster than Chaplins. He would also need a side arm and a knife appearantly...

  The QM looks  over ot one of the sailors and nods, one of them not actively working on something goes towards the back of the  Quartermaster's storage.

 The QM  punches  something up on his computer,..yuour name Ethan Graham?  Says here Preacherman and Med-lab..You'll be give the  status of acting Ensign... he huffs  at this.

 now then  Son, gonna  come down to what you want to look like? You can't change yourmind  none, after we write you up....

 The Crewman comes back with two uniforms. One is darkgrey , on the left pocket is a Cross with star behind it, inside a circle...the other is  a Tan uniform. One the shoulders are a Red Cross on a star within a circle...

  The QB looks at the uniforms  and says,whichever one you pick, yuour other craft will be on the collar...if you take the Medic..silver crosses on the  collars..if you take the chaplin, red crosses on the collars....

Re: QMs Lockers.

Ethan looked them both over. He thought more about what was important than what he should look like. The Chaplin's uniform would announce him as faithful, but make him hard to recognize as medicorps. The other would make it easier to find him on the battle field. Wearing the cross on his collar seemed appropriate. Besides the rosery and cross he wore normally would give his faith voice even when he did not.

He motioned with his head. "The medicorps will be easier to find on the battle field. I have been informed that I will be speding time there." When he thought about it, it was an easy choice. Being a Chaplin would be less his full time occupation anyway. "Thank you much for your help."

Ethan was not nearly so interested in the weapons. "Just give me the normal knife and whatever is easiest to clean and care for. I dont like the idea of killing regardless the enemy. I know it is necessary so I will not balk."

He took what they offered. "Is there anything else? I will hold Mass this evening. You are all invited. Thank you again for your help."

Re: QMs Lockers.

  The QB  slides him the standard boot knife, its sheath that snaps obto the  regulation boots that is handed to him with the  boxes of uniforms.

 he slides a smallish Pistol, it has a slightly flared barrel, the holster  matches the flare.

 ..This here's a Sanri close support weapon. the flare on the barrel causes the heat ray to fan out...you don't need to aim it as much...only good for close  quarters though..maybe..20 yards  at best...the closer..the more damage..some pilotys like it, casue they can use it to start fires  if they get shot down , planetside... the charge in the handle can be charged anywhere you can find a power source..  he slides another  cylinder to him,..this'll give ya  some back up...

(As the Hermes returns to Olympus and before shuttles need offloading)

Appigan arrives at the QM Lockers.

"Sergeant," he says the armoury controller.

"Corporal Appigan. I want to figure out some new combat load outs for my heavy armour kit.

I was thinking of adding an underbarrel tube to my rifle. Vvarious uses like shotgun pellets for our bird friends, door knockers* to speed entry, flechette for armoured EDT we might meet. When civilians are amid hostiles could use gas rounds, stun bag or electro shock.

The ammo clips for it and increase in rifle ammo levels will be something to work on. So I'd like to try dressing up and see how it all feels."

* door knocker: fired at very close range at a door locking mechanism. Used today on doors. Damage blasts structure of door apart at the lock. Even if the lock survives its no longer attached to the door. Previoulsy locked door can now be entered.

Thinking it could be a 30-40mm weapon with a short 3 rd clip.

He happily strolls over to the indicated area. Heavy armour suits had a bit of give in them but user settings where important for a good fit. You didn't have to load balance for fair performance but every edge matters.

"We seem to be heading out in platoon sizes for ship board combat. Shorter ranges, less walking. On the Black Ship ran out of rifle ammo. We were part way through our pistols by the time it was over."

Re: QMs Lockers.

“Fair enough,” says Appigan.
He had been put a lot thought into this since his redeployment to the ship.

“In simple words it’s a standard assault rifle with computer adjusting sights and an under barrel large bore clip weapon. It gives two options for fire.
Starting with the rifle.
Start with the standard bull pup assault rifle with its 30 round clip. A known and reliable weapon with ammunition coming from the existing stores.
On top the scope one of our range finding with adjusting dot scopes. The dot shifting based on inputs from the gun’s computer. Magnification starts at x3, the basic sight view. Best if it can switch from x3 to x9 for long range work. Range finding needs to be on/off for a stealth no-emission profile.
If the can manage a gun camera that feeds to the suit that’s great too. Feed visuals for round the corner shooting. If the suits not on then to an eye monocle.
Computer works with inputs from:
Range from the range finding, if not default to 100 meters;
The gravity field intensity for zero-g to different planets;
Angle in the gravity field that will help with elevation shooting;
Magnification level the scope is currently at;
Ballistics look up tables for the rifle rounds;
If we can add a second ballistic data set for the under barrel shells.
Back to the rifle put a side mounting on for a laser pointer. Small, not much weight and great for quick aiming in short range fighting of close quarters. On/off switch so we can keep our emissions down at other times. Maybe have two frequencies one for visible light and one that is infrared to be visible those with optical gear like our marine suits.
Bayonet mounting is tricky though. The under barrel position has the shell launcher so I figure we’d have to use a side mount rig. The side left after mounting the laser pointer.
Still need the sling studs. The forward mount has to go from the bottom to the side. Rear mount isn’t affected.
Rifle ammunition is the standard rifle set. So we have standard, armor piercing, explosive, tracer and so on already available.

Now for the under barrel weapon.
The under barrel docks in forward underside as normal.
If we choose something under 40mm we get room for more shells. A 30mm with a 3-shot clip is 90mm versus two 40mm needing 80 or three 40mm needing 120mm.
The under barrel clip doubles as a forward grip for the rifle.
The clip system lets the user swap between shell types quickly. A clip might also carry a sequence load like one door knocker followed by two buckshot or flechette to sweep the room.
Shell types to include door knocker; buckshot; explosive; flechette; stunbags; shock-stuns and even squash.
Squash is the plastic gel stuff that’s also known as HESH. It flattens on the target then detonates sending a concussive way through the armour. It can flake off violently pieces of armour on the inside so you get a fragmentation effect without having had to fully penetrate the armour.
Any way with a shell size like 30mm you have room to put in different loads.
Troopers could use practice at lobbing shells. Even without that we have the knockers, buckshot and flechette for close up work.
So can you do it?”

 about  a hour  or  so later, the   Weapon is  done..well now? There  she is......the  Longest range we have is the service tunnels  between the   skin and the  body of the ship...runs  about  4/5s  of trhe lenght of the ship.... we can close it down and you can try her there if you want?

Appigan had watched them work on the weapon. He helped them fetching tools.

"Sure, though we can do basic ranging calibrations here first. Like to try seeing what its like moving around in close quarters. Do you have an urban simulation room? A hard wall area so stray shots don't penetarate our own hull. Buildings and room mockups and doors so folks can practice take downs."

 well..they are special...they call thier shots..but the bottom line? Unless you have to go walking across the hall , outside? most of the boarders like to be able to move in combat...They have  Heavy suits too...maybe  if  we find a derrilct or somehting like that, but when it comes to  fighting  in the ships, they like to be able to move.

  The other  Sailor shakes his head,...not me man..i want armor..
