Henry was beginning to think that this one was not going to learn anything about being civilised.

  The Hillite nods  sadly as he watches the  Loop Vid,..It is  the Punishment, from The Black... we must now, rise  above it, and Kill as many of  our enemeis as we can, lest The Black view us as a weak race, and wipes us from his realm.

"Or perhaps it is time to change your ways," suggested Henry. "If the Black has permitted us to defeat you, maybe you are being told that you have to become more like us... ready to respect other species and to share the bounties of creation, rather than try to grab them all for yourselves."

Always worth a try.

  The Hillite looked at Henry, offe3nded..or worse,..perhaps, The Black is pushing us to be more like the Demons or Hyrians?... The Nivarians seem to get along  nicely with them all...but  we are viewed , more harshly. I think it is  , because we are on the rise... this attack of your. might be a Test by The Black, to see if we are worthy...

"Unlikely. Demons are being defeated all over the place, they don't seem to be in favour with the Black in the slightest right now."

Henry paused a moment to let that sink in, then changed topics.

"Tell me about the Hyrians and the Nivarians. We haven't met them yet as far as I know. What do they look like, and what are their customs?"

Sometimes he felt more anthropologist that xenobiologist, these days.

 The Hillite describes them ( see   'Aliens  thread' ).

   The Hillite's attention keep going back to the Vids when he hears the  screams, but tires to talk to Henry.

  Nivarians call themselves the Golden Race...but in your Human  terms..they are yellow ..in skin and in courage... they view  anything  they can take, as thiers, and will sell anything, thyt can to make a credit....

 ..They have...hwat you would call a dog there.... 6 legs, very fast..very...hungry..they use  them to run down  people when they raid  small colonies, or they  will let them loose on a ship to cause  havoc...they have very thick leather Hides... Most Nivarians  wear them on the  outside of thier   armor  to help take impact from weapons...

 ..The Hyrians think they should rule  the Black... it is only  that  the demons and Hyrians respect each other, that they do not war among themselves...but both sides have been known to  capture  ships, or destroy one, if they are not where they are supposed to be....

"How does 'they view anything that they can take as theirs' differ from your own approach?" asked Henry, almost amused at the Hilite seeming to find that obnoxious behaviour when someone else was doing it.

  The Hillite give  Henry as  cross look, We fight for what we  want to take, those who can beat us? keep it, those who do not,  become slaves or die. Nivarians only fight when they Must..and they fight in numbers, less they break and  run...Unless they have those  Dogs of thiers..... those  creatures  are the real warriors  of the Nivarian people.

"So it's a difference in tactics rather than a different outlook, then," said Henry, definitely getting amused now (especially as the Hilite is beginning to look cross).

  The Hilite shrugged,..You will see, when the Triad gathers  its forces..Your  people will pay a steep price , and maybe you will be in a cage  answering questions!

Henry grinned.

"I am a teacher. Answering questions - and asking them - is what I do."

He put his head on one side.

"Beats being eaten, anyway! At least you are safe from that. We don't eat sentient beings, whatever their species, however strong or weak they are."

  The Hillite  chuckles..you will..you will have to.. the Black is  a very large place, it is hard to grow  bushes and such to eat all the time.

"Did you know that we have a whole farm section here on the Hermes? We do grow our 'bushes'... and the meat animals, non-sentient ones, that we eat, as well. There is plenty to eat without eating each other!"

Henry smiled.

"Is there anything else you'd like to tell me about your species?"

  The   Hillite shook his head,..I am afraid  i said too much. Your kind  will understand us , when we  are elading  you in droves, to our   prison ships to be sorted out for our  use....

 he   waves  Henry  away, But  Henry can see him wince  as the lop plays ...again..with the Apemen tearing apart Creshains

"OK... just remember as you watch. We fight hard when we have to, but we deal fairly with those who are prepared to co-exist with us - we'll even fight for them if needs be, if someone else is troubling them. We're always ready to talk..."

Henry left the Hilite to his own devices and went back to his office.

  Ayda was taken down , the SEC talked with the Chief  and he opened the  solitary door. It was  cooler the other Cells. But the bed was soft with blankets and a Pillow.

 Next meal is lunch...in 3 hours or so....you have a sink with paper  cups  for water.... he waves   then off as they take her  down the hallway, the metal door lights up and it slides open with a clang...

  The Corp take he and  sets her on the Bed. He said quietly,...you should listen... i've been on a Largran ship...i have seen thier  'birthing chambers'... you are making a mistake, that will help..no one....

  The other Guard says,..you will die... your offspring will be destroyed...no one will come out ahead, except the LArgrans, who have killed another human women,

 they turned, the corp shouted to the chief..the    doors  lights blinked   again as  it  slide  shut....

 the guards walked  away to return to the Hanger Dec...Ayda  cried..in frustration.

Garrat walks in with the Hyrian over his shoulder.  "Special delivery."   he looks in a cell. "Oh, Hello Ayda, I brought you some company.  We have just crushed the entire Hyrian fleet and made their home planet unlivable.  The Largrains are in our sight.  Feel happy you are no longer tied to their fate."

Ayda  snorts......You cannot defeat the Hyrians... you must have used tricks...The LArgrans..they defeated the  Hyrians... they made the Hyrians what to be in the Empire... an Empire  by child will help lead!

 The Chief shakes his head,so?..Now I ahve a Hillite..and nut job Dusty..and a fleabag....what's next..gonna bring a Bucket  of  pond water, so we can grow scum? he opens the  door and Waves Garrat through.

 Once the Dog is on the Bed  he cuts the ties,  and  locked the  barred  door.

   Garrat plops the Hyrian on the bunk. "I'll tell you what.  With the admirals permission I'll question her myself, and if she doesn't cooperate I'll throw her out the static field myself.  That said, your far from a complete set."  Garrat looks around, "No Avians, Bugs or EDT."

 The chief  shrugs.....we had those at one time....nothing good  happened to any of them.

 He  shut the  inside  door and went to his  desk, entering info of the  new prisoner they had acquired .

"Yeah, I remember.  You even had an Einherjar once."  Garrat smirks then gets worried.  He saw a Verian shuttle in the docking bay on the way in.  Hopefully no one was giving Shade a hard time but he had to get to rhe mad bay and check on the human he'd pulled out.  Garrat left the brig.

   Garrat enters the brig, and heads to the warden booth.  "Did you receive the okay for me to talk to the Dog?"

  The Chief Nodded ,..go ahead, stay away from the bars.. if it grabs you..we won't save you...if it tries to use you to escape.

   The  Hyrian is in a bad  way, the least amount of  Med tech attention was given,  and  she  was  chewing on some dried beef  and sipping  , what looked like , chicken soup.

  As Garrat  came in  his side of the corridor, the Hyrian Growled,.... YOur keeper pumps in the propaganda..about our  planet...and about  our Fleet... you will not get information..from me... I am a Hyrian.

  To the chief "I am not afraid of that creature.  I would rather speak to him face to face.  Until that can be arranged this will have to do."

  To the hyrian  "I have no keeper.  That is why I was free to pluck you out of space rather than destroying your pod.  You on the other hand are ours.  Your homeworld is ravaged by a crippling nuclear strike and your remaining family will soon be dying from biological warfare.  Perhaps if you were forth coming a deal could be made to extradite them and save them from untold horror."   Garrat looks at the creature with disgust. "You and your entire species are nothing but whimpering lap dogs for the demons.  You owe them nothing.  Show us right here and now you can be more and I will ask if those you love can be spared."

  ..You think i am a Pup? she snarls,.... The Black Fleet, even now , has scattered your  feeble human ships to be dust motes in The Black...and Humans  could not get close enough, to do the damage that  the keeper outside keeps showing those inside  this kennel.

 ..if not  for a chance encouter..my ship will would have shared in the sport of  Killign your kinds...and samplign the  flesh of  fresh spoils...
