Observation Dec

This is at the Bow of Most ships of the fleet...about  50 or  so yards across, and  about  100 yards  deep. The OB DEC has  thick Glass and Blast doors, for when combat erupts..there are tables  and Chairs, couch-like seats near the windows..a Bar with a limited snack bar as well...it is  at the bottom of the Bow, the only thing under it  is the  Rounded end  of the maintence  Tunnels that some folks use  for long  runs.

Re: Observation Dec

Garrat settles into the seat.  Indeed this is much like the version of the rec. dec. that he's used to in the Longboats he used to captain.  He sets the lap sized version of the data pad on his knees and looks out at the stars racing by [if that's what FTL travel looks like here] and is sorry he missed the departure.  Ha has been used to watching it for as long as he could remember minus some vague memories of child hood and marriage.

Then he looks down and starts getting to work on the plans for his pulse riffle hybrid.  It won't be a huge upgrade but he needed to complete it in one fell swoop so he would have it for combat at the next mission.  Working quickly he altered the existing design so another weapon could be snapped on the bottom side of the rifle and when primed, be activated by the regular trigger.  He left it general so the shotgun design he planed could be replaced with something more mission specific as they faced different scenarios.
He was careful with the original design studying every component and making sure he didn't affect it in a bad way, relying on the force and strength calculations built into the design program to check his work and suggest alterations.  Yet he pushed himself not to linger when he got things "correct" and tucked into the task like the work it was.

Then on to designing the shot gun part.  He designed it to take regular 12 guage munitions and clips as well as clips holding a modified version of his eight inch munitions.  Rather than using exhaust from firing to reload the next round as in most automatics he relied on a simpler pump action system to spring prime it allowing the pulse riffle to fire standard when it wasn't cocked.  The design was simple sturdy and could take a lot of wear and tear.

That being done he put in a call on his come "Ranger Xyran, if you got a bit, there's somethin I need a little help with."  over 10 hours after they departed Garrat hoped this wasn't a bad time, but the Accui were known for their technical skills in his part of the galaxy, as well as being shrewd in trade and maybe a little mischevious in nature.
