Chapter 3-B: Across the Aldi and Into The Forgotten Deeps #2

The sun sets with GRIM, DAI, and ZEIG realizing they should probably make some sort of camp.

ZEIG suggests that where you are now is as good of a place as any.

It doesn't seem the undead in the lake are very willing to move into the forest and that even if they are, they seem to quickly begin falling apart.

Did you want to use a magical tent? If so, who has it?

DAI pulls a tent out of the Handy Haversack, wanting to replenish some of his lost magics...and he was not liking the idea of waking up to something breathing down his neck.

"May ye gods take thy friends into their bosom." Grim solemnly mutters as he pours a bit of elven wine out.

Re: Chapter 3-B: Across the Aldi and Into The Forgotten Deeps

The party crawls into the tent. ZEIG does not use the alchemy kit during the night, but sits there, looking at the empty places for a set of calipers and a vial. Rest is comfortable, but wrought with odd and remorseful dreams.

The Watersday sun rises over the distant mountains. Its rays play off of the gently moving surface of Lake Deepflight, letting loose thousands of refracted colors and rays of light. Surrounded by the fields of swaying grasses, it looks almost surreal in its natural beauty.

Scanning along with your eyes, meeting the sight of the two paths the unconscious bodies of LEO and JACK made as they were drug into the water, the image of serenity shatters painfully.

Zeig shakes his head at the dirt paths in disbelief.  He stares out over the lake away from the others.

"We're not getting down there any time soon.  Maybe the drow in the village will know more of this lake, and of crowns and kings.  If we can't save our friends, at least we can put them to rest with the others."

Grim spits at the word "drow". "The drow will more likely poison ye than tell ye what ye want to know."

Re: Chapter 3-B: Across the Aldi and Into The Forgotten Deeps

DAI seems somewhat calmed from the chance for rest. "I don't foresee much...benefit coming from the Drow, though we may have few other options if we ever hope to put JACK and this...LEO to rest. Not only that but..." DAI glances at GRIM sideways, then looks to ZEIG and taps where he keeps his Crystal of Earth. "Either way, we won't get much done unprepared, and as we are now I don't think we could fight off a town of angry Drow, so perhaps we should think long on this before making any decisions."

OOC: Fuck it, I keep meaning to remedy DAI back to the quiet 3-5 words person he was at the beginning, but I just cannae do eet.

Re: Chapter 3-B: Across the Aldi and Into The Forgotten Deeps

"We don't have any idea where Astos might be, though I doubt he'll be in a small village.  Walking up to their stronghold without any information seems like a good way to become a pincushion though, the elven scouts don't come out this far anymore.  We could go around the west, but I think we'd be passing up an opportunity to glean some information on the circumstances here.  Finding Astos will be difficult enough, let alone while completely ignorant of the nation.  Figuring out how to get him to reverse the spell is going to be no easy task."

Zeig looks towards the lake and shudders.

"This place is full of terrible things.  It's no wonder the elves don't come out this far."

"Fine fine, let's go to the Drow village...maybe they'll have some interesting things to look through, after all they likely haven't had any visitors in a while."

*CHOCOBOS~*

DAI summones a smaller squad of Chocobos then recently needed, using his Circlet for one of them.

Re: Chapter 3-B: Across the Aldi and Into The Forgotten Deeps

GRIM, ZEIG, and DAI mount up, give one last lingering look at the lake's edge, and continue on eastward. The intended route is around, in a wide berth, the southern edge of the lake then to follow the southern bank of River Deepflight until reaching the Drow village.

By mid-afternoon the lake is behind everyone. Testing this very, very carefully, DAI rides within 150' of the river with no sign of a horde of undead approaching. After several miles of this, ZEIG and GRIM join him and they ride in the slightly less dense foliage near the river, in what looks to be some old floodplain.

Near the end of the day, decent progress has been made. The rusty moon raises in the sky an hour before sundown.

The party sets up camp for the night.

Going to pause here in case you guys want to do something. Watches are simple enough, and the party need only rest 10 hours since ZEIG has a ring of sustenance. ZEIG can also craft during this time if he wishes.
