Re: Chapter 4 - Consequences
Jiro winced as Alex killed her - if he'd followed Jack's words properly - predecessor. He eyed the stake she flipped oh so very casually. "I see. Not... quite what I meant, but fair enough." A pause. "I have wronged you, Alex-san, and for that I am truly sorry. Not just last night, though last night was perhaps the worst of it. I made a poor judgement call, perhaps several of them, and my attempts to aid you have been mostly one blunder after another. I wronged you again while speaking to Jack, and tried to dismiss your importance as I tried to manipulate him into an error." Another pause. "If you find you cannot forgive, I will understand. I ask only that, whatever you do to me, you consider your friend Sarah MacDonald more... kindly. She is terrified, Alex-san. Terrified that in a moment of ignorance she nearly killed one she loves as a sister. Even if you cannot forgive, please talk to her, for she worries."
Then he paused, out of words, out of ideas, and waited for their response, trying not to look at the deadly stake. This could still go very, very wrong, very very quickly.
