Re: Enemy tactics (finale)

Obviously Akakaan won't know he's lost some Vordak. Though don't worry, there's still enough aroudn to cause more trouble.

Obviously if I haven't handled the fire thing and your own tactics quite right, let me know. I took the liberty of downplaying the attack on thegate, since that would leave your troops easier to fire arrows at. Obviously, with the slowly growing fire, it's easier to do that behidn the gate assuming you might want to start some intimidation thingie.

There is a dead spot to avoid arrow fire on the wall if you stay right by the gate/wall. Well, unless peopel start pouring things down fro mthe wall, or lean out.

Assume you have all your giaks for anything you wish to do, I can't imagien the keep moving too swiftly.

And yes, I'm saying night is now falling. Akakaan can start benefitting from his cloak of night abilities. :)

Cool.  I'll have to think this over for a bit.  Has the fire actually started doing its work on the gate yet?  Just wanted to clarify the main post.

Okay, clarification after all!  So I'm guessing the barricade is still up and on fire?  If so I'll be waiting at the gate to see what the humans do next.  Again, I may be by tonight to make that post; but I may wait until I see what someone else does and I can make a clear reaction.

Re: Enemy tactics (finale)

Still mostly up and on fire, yes. It will eventually spread to the stakes across and the gate. The barracade is more reinforcements on the shattered gate that a proper block, so the weakening of the gate will weaken what's left, and vice versa. Plus of cource the central split is back again. The spikes will also catch.

And ok, let's see how people react!

Re: Enemy tactics (finale)

How's your workload right now? I notice you are on minimal posting with your GM'd games. Are you going to need to cut this game free? Obviously right now is a good moment to play catch up with other things if you've just got a busy week with the pause in combat, but if it's a longer deal I don't mind taking over your sterling work and ensuring maximum carnage on your behalf :D

Let me know!

I believe that at this point I may have to take you up on that offer, yes.  I'm at my time limit as far as posting goes!

I think you know basically where I was heading with things, anyway!  If all seems lost, Akakaan will beeline for Valeena and make killing her a goal.

Re: Enemy tactics (finale)

That's a shame. If you feel like posting a final post in a more blaze of glory style mode than playing the waiting game, feel free. There are two Vordaks lurking at the main keep that were about to make an attack on the wounded of the stables. If Akakaan would make an assault at this newest distraction, that might be a fun violent way to make a last gamble.

Otherwise, I will keep the pressure on with nothing obvious happening, and see what mistakes the keep might be persuaded to make until I can pick off more of them! :)

Skyldig hasn't posted yet, so you aren't holding up the game if I leave updating until tomorrow. And actually, I'm gone until Tuesday anyways after tomorrow so there's actually plenty of time for a final post if you want one.

Let me know at some point this evening and I can leave a gap for you! :D

Re: Enemy tactics (finale)
Though I will be leaving, I still have a vested interest in seeing the bad guys win; to that end I think it's best for us to wait until the fire has started to do some real damage and then strike.  Maybe the Nadziranim is ready to push forward?  Akakaan, in his desperation to win, may even try to give him false signals that it's time (it's safe!) for him to join the assault.

I'm sad I lost my mute scary drakkar commander, after all!

Re: Enemy tactics (finale)

At first I was sad that your last wish was to have Akakaan hold back, cause everyone charging at the gathered soldiers might have been fuinny. Then I realised that with Torygan about to do something nasty in the chapel, and two Vordak about to spring out fro mthe rear, that having the exit (and entrance) of the keep opemn yet obviously silently guarded with fire and Helghast behind might actually be far, far worse :D

Anyway, sadly Akakaan would not be able to pull the woll over the Nadziran's eyes. Afetr all, Akakaan gave himself totally to the Nadziran, his mind is an open book. More importantly - the Helghast is cannon fodder to weaken the keep for the mage, nto the other way around. Yeah, that nadziran's not showing his face until the keep is good and weakened and on its last legs :)

Let me know if you want to have all the hidden threads open to you, and I'll start NPCing Akakaan in the background from tomorrow onwards.

Re: Enemy tactics (finale)

Behind closed doors the fighting goes on! I'm going to have the Drakkarim, black clad giaks and most of the giaks killed, though none of the normal mercenaries will survive that. Arkan will be knocked unconscious after lightning bolting Akakaan. I'm going to assume Akakaan defeats Teelay but keeps the man alive to demoralise any remaining mercenaries. Tor and Akakaan will be facing off, Tor's sword buried in Akakaan's side. With Teelay trying to indicate, despite a crushed voice box, that Akakaan is actually injured from that.

Whether I need to move things on from that we shall see, but that is probably the scene the remaining players will find at the gate.

Just thoguht you might like to know :)  Akakaan will probably not last passed that scene if the players interject. However, we'll see what damage he inflicts going out. Then as you might guess The Hand will move in. Vordak, crow, five tough giaks and a Nadziran to take out. Be an interesting final confrontation that one. With a twist, if I can get away with it!
