The video below is a music video created/directed by Christopher Alender for a song by Ben Lovett.  It has been incredibly well-received by many within the steampunk community, and with good reason.  Check it out!

Re: Music

I see your video and raise you a song by the band that put the punk into Steampunk... The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing.  This band not only talk the talk but walk the walk as well.  In 2009 they were the first band to release a record on wax cylinder since 1922.  They had to include instructions on how to make a device to play it.

Re: Music

Abney Park always makes me think of a marvellous Victorian Cemetary in Stoke Newington (North London).  Probably because the cemetary is also called Abney Park.

Re: Music

and  I feel obligated to let everyone know, Abney Park has a marvelous new album out called End of Days. I have acquired it, quite amazing. Also a good band, though I've been able to find little music to have in my music collection, Clockwork Quartet is very good as well! I'm constantly researching for more bands..when I find 'em I will share 'em with you all!

I hope this works for our colleagues in the colonies...

The New York Dolls are not by any stretch of the imagination a steampunk band, but this video for "Fool for You Baby" has a definite steampunk feel, not least because it seems to have been filmed in the nineteenth century tunnels under Waterloo station, London - part of the long abandoned Necropolis Railway, which was built solely to carry corpses from central London to a cemetery some miles to the South.

Re: Music

I recently discovered The Cog Is Dead.  AMAZING steampunk band.  Their album, Steam Powered Stories, is presented as a radio broadcast and varies from a quirky, Beach Boys-esque sound in "Mechanical Menagerie," to the tear-jerkingly sweet "Time Machine," to--wait for it--reggae in "I Want Only You."

Here's the first track, and the rest of the album is available from the same user, so YouTube can hold you over til the CD arrives in the mail. http://youtu.be/VJ-JZeYCEeU

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnaphJb5jQg vernian process always gets my gears turning. ^^ the video is from the short animation 'a gentlemans duel' if one wishes to watch that fun bit of excitement as well.

Another fun example of their work can be shown in their cover of the maple leaf rag which as the song progresses develops from a very old style into a jazzy swing esc number. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vb5oMKyU0YA

The music isn't steampunk, but the visuals in the video certainly are.

One of the things that brought steampunk back into the fore front of my mind recently is this Abney park video based around an anime called The Last Exile.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdLkwKM0-fk

I was thinking, I might have a chance at designing a multitonal Didgerido in a steam punk fashion.

It has a fantasy backstory that's on the "out there" side.  Read the lyrics and you'll understand better.

Still 2 outa three aint bad.

Lets try this one for a vid.
