Myarra:
To Aliana:  "Was the 'bleeding' pun too obvious or too subtle?"

The blonde elf maid grinned impishly at the winged woman.
" It was lovely.   Nicely done. "

The priestess began praying for healing magic to her god, Oghma, who also loved a good pun now and then.

1372: The Year of Wild Magic: Day 178

Piebald walked over to his friend Lennox in a most calm-like manner, as he knew Nox was upset over the latest incident. His knowledge of these magical orbs was unknown to him, but he knew rushing into a fight was bad when you weren't prepared. Piebald lowered his hood so everyone could see what he looked like, especially his friend.

"Nox, my real name is Sir Misaleu of Arabel, Paladin of Bahamut. This is what's left of me because I ran into battle unprepared." Piebald explained "Do not make my same mistake. I know what you're saying is important, but you can't do anything when you're dead."

Nox bobs a respectful nod at Piebald's identity revelation, and that of his sacrifice."I'm fully prepared to confront Culver." Nox says carefully, with conviction. "I do not argue your logic, dead I can do nothing. But, right now I live-- As such, I can and will act. I do not fear a confrontation with the mage provided he's not yet made use of The Orb of Dragonkind. If he has, well, I am not too proud to fight another day." His attention drifts back to Hanns. "I cannot sit idly in ignorance while this may yet be the prime moment to strike." He tries to convey his point.

"It depends on how you measure 'prime.'" Amara said, still staring at the items to determine as much as she could about their magical properties. "We, ourselves, are weak right now, and hardly in 'prime' shape to strike. We don't have the information that could make a difference in combat, so that is not 'prime' either. The only possible 'prime' would be if he was in weakness, which is unlikely as he ran. And people usually run to a stronghold.

None of us are backing down from a fight. We are simply biding our time to choose the best moment."

OK, how about if we use this stone thing to see if he's on the other side, and if he is, we deal with him. If not, we come back here to make plans? Francis offered "Either way, we should heal up, in case we have to fight again."

Amara finally seemed satisfied. "The Breastplate and Shield each radiate moderate enchantment. The Long Sword has low level enchantment and transmutation, so has some special ability. The Bracers radiate moderate conjuration and the Ring mild abjuration, so both are likely to be protective. The potions are faint conjuration, so likely healing." She looked up. "Who would like what?"

"I'll take one of the healing potions, if you're confident that's what they are." Myarra replies to Amara's query.  "I can't use armor without extensive modification, I prefer the sword I have, and I've already got two rings.

But if I could get a little healing in an emergency without having to depend on Aliana, that would be a good thing."

As far as gathering information, it appears that it will involve either lots of reading, or using strange magical devices.  Neither are something that she would be comfortable with.  And since there were plenty of others that would love to do that research, she'd be happy to let them get on with it.

"I'd put it at 75% confident," Amara replied to Myarra. "I could really only use the ring or potion."

"Nolan? Aliana? Would either of you like to start taking a look at this book? Lennox is right, we should not waste time. It may tell us enough that we can use the gate without getting trapped, as well as know more about the orb to prevent us from making some mistake with it."

The elven lass nodded thoughtfully.

" I've been lucky enough to be able to stay out of the close fighting so far,  so I'll give first refusal to the fighters,  but I'm skilled with both the armor and shield as well as the sword.   I'd love to take either the shield or sword,  since I prefer light arnor, but I'll take whatever no one else wants. "

She then looked around.
" Who else needs healing? "

In reply to Francis Orville (msg # 6):

That sounds like a good plan. If he's on the other side, we take him out and take the orb back. If he's not there, posting a guard would also be a good idea, just in case he comes back. Let's get healed up as best we can, go through the waystone and look around. I'll read Bache's book later.

Nolan stands next to the stone and is ready to leave.

"Good enough for me." Myarra replies to Amara's assurances, or at least 75% of an assurance.

"Thanks Aliana." she adds to her elven friend as her wounds close up and the blood stops flowing.  Taking the bandages off, she stuffs them into her bag.  They'll need to be boiled, but they can be used again.  And since her shirt is already ruined, she might as well make the sacrifice worth while.

"It's supposed be one-way, so grab anything you want to take with you.  It could be a while before we see this place again, if ever.

And shouldn't we check the big bosses sleeping quarters?  There could be some good loot there.  Might be useful later on."

"I would think it would have loot, at least coin, as they did not." Amara said as she got up to distribute things, giving both potions to Myarra, the sword and shield to Aliana, the scroll and old book to Nolan, slipped the ring on her finger, and looked at the others, still having bracers and a breastplate unclaimed.

"No, no Myarra, it's one way back to the main Way-stone." Hanns explained "From the main Way-stone, you can come back here all you want, or go to the other places in the city. Think of this Way-stone as a door. The door only goes to two spots. In and Out and vice versa.
