Re: 1372: The Year of Wild Magic: Day 189-191

Round 8 results----------

As Nolan's scroll disintegrates, another Lightning Bolt zaps the plant creature. It screeches, then topples over as Byron lays into it with his Greatsword, plant parts splattering onto the ground. Nobody knows where Lorrik is, except for Flica, who is doing her best to keep Lorrik from running away too far, as Myarra continues to curse and hack at the prone plant monster on the ground, plant parts splattering onto the ground. Now that the creature is done, Lennox sighs in relief as he takes the time to look around, as does Roenthelm. Amara returns to the ground and pulls out supplies and ties a rope as Aliana pulls out her bow and shoots the plant creature with an arrow and hits the plant with her Spiritual Weapon. Both hits make splat noises. Kalliyan mysteriously turns into a panther that looks like Raieylan, still very disturbed that she had to fight plant creatures she was sworn to protect. Both her and Raieylan move in to scratch up the felled plant, scaring the crap out of the horses even more. Twiggy saw the plant creature fall, but decided that he would still put in his 2 coppers and nailed the plant creature with a crack shot from his sling.

Knowledge Arcana or Nature rolls, please.

The panther form that was once Kali stalks teh fallen best, still letting a low growl from it's feline lips. Raieylan, a step behind is quieter, but still keeping pace, as if still protecting the woman even now.

Kali pounces on teh fallen shambler and begins tearing at teh beast with claws.

Roen felt sorry for Kalliyan as she continued to claw at the plant monster. He looked at the pile of vegetation and then cast a spell to see if it could help him.

Myarra smacks the fallen plant monster one more time, just for good measure, then cleans her blade and puts it away.  She looks around at the stunned and weary group.

She too is worried about Lorrik, but there are already enough people looking for him.  Best not to scatter the entire group.

"I am getting very tired of this Mazmular, whatever it might be.  And I'm sure those of you that like the forest are getting tired of his corrupting the trees.  So, once we get Lorrik back, let's try to get some rest and, at first light, let's go finish this thing so we can leave this mess behind."

I think I've heard that Mazmular name before. But in the meantime, we need to make sure this creature is dead before it starts regenerating back. Amara, can you use a couple of those Fireball spells off the scrolls I gave you?

Re: 1372: The Year of Wild Magic: Day 189-191

Twiggy runs off to go find Lorrik while Aliana flew higher to see if she could spot him. She doesn't spot him, but she does see a very large shape flying towards the group from perhaps 10 miles away from the North-North West, and she knows what that means...

The rest of the group are studying the plant creature, while Kalliyan continues to claw into the plant with raging claws and a low growl coming from her mouth....

Roenthelm casts a spell and determines that the plant creature is still "alive".

Some of you have seen it regenerate and as you get closer to see if that was happening,Kalliyan's low growl becomes a louder growl as you "enter her space"....

Amara nodded, pulling out one of the scrolls that Nolan had given her. "
Kalliyan, you need to move."

If Kalliyan moves, Amara will cast the spell. But if not... she does not want to burn her druid friend, especially as Kalliyan seems... confused.

Raieylan help me get her out of the way of Amara's spell.

Byron smiles at the big cat as he puts his weapon away.  To show both him and Kali he means no harm as he moves slowly and cautiously towards Kali.  Talking softly and calmly to Kali now.

Kali, come on, move away from it.  Amara is going to make sure it is finished.

Byron suspects that Amara is both amused and a little surprised that he would be willing to risk a fight with both Kali and her protector and that he would do so to help her because he does not have as much in common with the dark elf as the others.

We need to hurry and get this done. Hopefully Twiggy found Lorrik by now. We need to move the horses and seek cover under the trees before this creature sees us. It's probably a green dragon.

As soon as everyone is out of range of getting crisped by a fireball (even if the might be close enough to get just a tad singed), Amara chants off the scroll, tossing the bead of fire that appears as the scroll crumples to dust at the center of the creature to burst into flames.

<OOC: Sorry, beed sick as a dog. Almost back to normal though>

The panther form of Kali looks at Byron, still a little wild in her eyes, but the hint of recognition in her eyes soften them.  the panther backs off, and pads over to a tree, standing there looking at the group with a look on the panther's face one akin to a cat who had stolen a meal.

Byron moves out of the way with Kali.  Secretly hoping that Nolan is correct and Amara's spell will do what is promised.  Outwardly no one can tell how nervous Byron is, but on the inside he's shaking from the insanity of testing his own courage and trust of going up against his friends Kali and probably Raieylan as well.

Thank you Raieylan.  Byron says softly as he watches Amara's spell work.

Re: 1372: The Year of Wild Magic: Day 189-191

Raieylan walks past Byron, giving him a nudge as he does, walking behind the panther form of Kali, and looks at her with an unusual kindness in his eyes. If it wasn't obvious before, the look he gives the druid is one of love and consern. He looks at byron with an almost pleading look, then back to kali, who sits and watches the burning monster with a look thats hard to tell with the feline form.

....but it is clear. The panther is worried about his friend

Re: 1372: The Year of Wild Magic: Day 189-191

Myarra knew she could do no more.  The plant monster required fire or acid to destroy, and her steel could produce neither.  So she moved away from the body and let Amara and Nolan finish it off.

Still worried about Lorrik, she peered into the darkness, hoping that Twiggy would be able to bring the lad back unharmed.  She's tempted to fly off overhead and look, but splitting up was always a bad idea.

Especially given that there was the word of something large, and probably dragonish, flying towards them.  They were going to need to do something about that pretty soon, but they're too spread out at the moment, and more panic wasn't going to help.   They needed to get Lorrik back and Kalli turned back human ... or at least made less of a crazy cat ... and then get everyone under whatever cover they could find.

So, while she waited, she lifted her shirt to examine the skin where the creatures had hit her.  Fortunately there were no open wounds that needed to be bound, but the skin across her stomach and both sides were sporting large purplish bruises, which most certainly didn't color coordinate with the normal greyish cast of her skin.  She was going to ache for a while, but it wasn't anything that wouldn't heal in a couple of days.

Re: 1372: The Year of Wild Magic: Day 189-191

Twiggy is still off looking for Lorrik, while Byron manages to talk to Kalliyan and to get her away from the plant creature. Then everyone stands back as Amara reads a spell off of a scroll and then a giant fireball hits the plant creature square on. There is a shriek, then the "arms" start waving about and then the plant fries and then dies. Roenthelm confirms it with his spell.

The battle is finally over.

But, with what Aliana saw in the distance, will another one start?
