Re: 1372: The Year of Wild Magic: Day 191-196

We should leave the identifying to Nolan.  He's good at that kind of thing.  I'm going to stop in to see Amos as Kali and I need to have a short chat with him as well as pick up my silver crossbow bolts.  After that I'll help anyone who wants to get a horse.

Byron says conversationally as he watches the area around them for trouble.

You.  You need to stay out of trouble this time.

Byron says pointedly and looking directly at Twiggy.  Then he continues in his more playful teasing tone.

Or they will be no candy for you.

When the group got into town, Lorrik was kinda quiet as he followed Byron around. He didn't start any conversations and answered questions very briefly with a quiet tone to his voice. You all know that for a kid his age, these past few days are catching up to him.

The halfling was happy to ride with Amara and told her of his adventures before being locked in the mirror.

Twiggy gave a gasp to Byron saying he gets in trouble "That is hurtfull, all I was trying to do was infiltrate the dragon cult followers in this town. But, I will try and not cause a riot. I think I will go and find me a riding dog today, see what they have." Twiggy then sets off inviting anyone who wants to join.

"Well, I think we should have done that while we were back in the village. Do we want to go back and have him do it? I heard the process is quite expensive and it would save us a considerable amount of money. Unless somebody else in the party can do it?"

Byron just rolls his eyes as Twiggy walks away.

Come on Kali.  We got just enough time to talk to Amos first before we get a couple of good horses for those who will need them.

Byron turns to look at Lorrik.

You need to meet Amos.  He was my mentor when I first decided I wanted to be an adventurer.  He's tough, he's fair, and he's a good friend of mine even we when have disagreed about things.

"We didn't have time for Nolan to identify them.  I figure we can either pay to have them identified here and take the hit in price, or we can sell everything else but keep the magic.  Then we can have Nolan look at it all when we get back.  We really just need to make sure we have enough to give Lorrik his proper share so he can take care of his farm.

Right now, time is more important than profit."

Kali nodded to the warrior, looking at raieylan. "Maybe you should dtay on the outskirts Raie...you don't want to scare people."  The panther snorts and makes for a grove of trees on the outskirts of town.

Kali, however, follows silently, playing over in her mind what happened with the elf, trying best how to tell Amos

Byron smiles at the big cat.

Easy my friend.  She will be safe enough with me.  We won't be gone very long.

Byron looks over at Myarra.

Fair enough.  Lets hurry up and get this stop over with.  We don't want to get there too late and find we can't help Lorrik.

Twiggy walks around until he can find a kennel with riding dogs to buy.  He tries his best to be good so he stops to buy a bunch of candy to give to the kids as he asks about any strange occurences or scary people that have been coming to town lately.

"Myarra, how about you and I wander around town and ask a few workers what they think should be done when we describe the tower we want to clean up?" Roen said with a smile "We can start pricing materials and a cart and then we'll know what to buy in Triel. I was also thinking of hiring some locals from there to help with the job."

Re: 1372: The Year of Wild Magic: Day 191-196

Twiggy wanders off to get some candy so he can find a group of kids to talk to, to see if he can get any information, while looking for a dog kennel. A couple coppers gets him a big bag full of sweets and he finds a group of 5 kids playing in the fountain in the middle of town. They have little wooden boats and they are playing "Pirates". So far, he hasn't found any dogs that are trained to be a mount, but perhaps one of the kids know a place?

Myarra, Roenthelm, Amara and Aliana wander the streets to gather information on how much supplies will cost for the tower project and possible labor wages as well. They find a saw mill on the West side of town (Refer to Soubar Map near location 6) and talk to a foreman there. You don't tell him where this tower is, but you describe to him what you wish to do.

"Unless you know what you're doing, I recommend hiring an Engineer, or somebody can get hurt. By the sounds of your plans, you'll need a scaffold."

Labor Charges: Pg. 105 DMG
Supplies such as tools, wagon, horses and other stuff needed: Players Pg. 128-129

OOC:I honestly didn't know what to do about the lumber itself, so I'm just going to say that will be around 10 Gold.

"How in Nine Hells did you end up in the middle of that mess and by some sort of miracle manage to defeat that Abomination tree?" Amos asked, almost yelling

He walks up to Byron and looks like he's about to deck him for bringing Kalliyan into so much danger, then grabs him and gives him a bear-hug!

I give Amos a big bear hug back.  Speaking a voice that is more calm than Byron feels, he asks.

Who in the Nine Hells told you that we fought the Abomination Tree that was part of your Elf friend?

Twiggy shares his candy and tells the kids a couple of pirate tales. The halflings mentality is similar to a human childs so he talks to them like a pirate   "Arrrr, matey. Where can a lowly seadog be finding a dog to ride. An have ye kids be seeing any people here that be scary like pirates, there be treasure to find if ye can tell me."

"Well, I know it sounds totally off the wall, but he appeared to me and he showed me what you and your friends did." Amos explained "That Nolan has some incredible power and so does the Drow woman, Amara. Never in my years did I ever think those spinning stones were transports. Stavis, myself and a few other friends traveled there long ago on an adventure and that weird magical wall opened and the demon walked through...you know the rest of the tale. I'm just sorry about all the people its killed over the years..."

Those who perished knew the risks they took.  Unfortunately we lost our friend Lennox to it before we were able to destroy it.

Byron says with a note of sadness on Nox's name.

We met Lorrik along the way.  He's not bad for an untrained kid.

Byron continues and introduces them to each other.

The group of kids enjoy the candy and play pirate back to Twiggy, but they don't know of any Riding Dogs in town, but they would love to see one, so they could ride it, too. They haven't seen any new scary people come to town, but they do point to a man and say that he is scary. Twiggy looks over and sees the trash sweeper bum that he and the party saw last trip they were here. The kids say that he screams at the air. Twiggy has seen drunk bums before...

Roen may not look much to the eye, but he sure does have people skills as he talks with the Foreman of the mill,

"We are headed to Triel. Can you recommend anyone from there? I will tell them that you sent us, and maybe someday he'll return the favor for you?"

Re: 1372: The Year of Wild Magic: Day 191-196

Myarra accepts Roenthelm's invitation and wanders around the city with the small group.  She doesn't bother disguising herself, the people of the city should be use to her by now, and standing next to Amara, she's hardly the scariest member of the group, at least stereotypically speaking.

As far as the wheeling and dealing, she leaves that up to the others.  It's not really a skill she's mastered.  If the party needs some cut-throats for a smash and grab on a payroll wagon ... well, she knows how to get that kind of expertise.  But fixing up towers?  In that regard she'd prefer to hang around, waiting for all the dealing to be done by those better suited.

She does keep her eye open for a good "mystery meat" cart.  It's been hours since her last meal after all, and she's going to have to eat trail rations once they've left the city.  This may be her last chance to get some real food for a while.

"Sorry to hear of your loss, Lad. Perhaps your friend left, because a new one was coming?" Amos asked

Shaking hands with Lorrik,

"Me name's Amos and don't let him feed you lies. He was around your age when he wanted to carry that big hunk of metal with him."

Lorrik shook Amos' hand, but the grip on the man was extremely strong and Lorrik knew that he had to build up some muscle,

"I'll never carry anything that big. Longsword is my choice, along with a Longbow. I won't even be wearing all that metal, either. Too noisy."

Speaking of metal.  Lorrik does need a decent long sword.  I'm sure you have something here that would suit him just fine.
