Re: In the church

"I prefer someone watch the cellar. The buomman says that something got inside through the windows. I would prefer a route of escaping."

Glasenter looks up and thinks putting a hand on his chin. "I think we can put some wards on the roof too."

Re: In the church

As soon as Glasenter finishes speaking, one of Brightmane's Zarusian soldiers gives the voice of alarm.
"Milady! They are getting closer! There are hundreds of them!"

One of the bridgeburners runs to one of the northern window, peeking through the wood that closes the window, only to find out that the Zarusian was more than right.

"And they are surrounding us, Corporal!"

The slow march of the undead slowly produces enough sound so that you don't need to see them to know that there is an undead army outside the church.

"Trapped like mouses again." Glasenter spits to the holy ground and readies his crossbow.

And then, just like divine punishment, very heavy steps that talk about a size that could rival the very church they are, let themselves be heard outside the southern part of the church.

Re: In the church

Lady Maria heard cry for alarm, sound of undead army approaching and then thundering steps coming somewhere south. She draws and grips on her greatsword and shouts; "Pick up defensive positions on windows and keep eye out for cellar and staircase! We do not want them surprise us by coming other direction than doors and windows! I will go check what giant is coming towards us now in south!" With that said she moves to south of the church take a look what is approaching them with such loud steps.

OOC: Lady Maria spends move action or two to check what is coming in south. Also she spends smite to use Smite to Song. All allies get +1 to hit and attack rolls and will saves vs fear. Her case the inspire courage comes from barked orders and inspiring words/presence (perform oratory skill). I rolled in advance K:religion roll to ID undeads outside (including skill trick bonus). Also she takes martial spirit stance; each her hits heal 2pts on herself or from ally in 30'ft off her.

15:33, Today: Lady Maria Brightmane rolled 17 using 1d20+11. K:religion.

Re: In the church

Everyone assume positions. Mitran nods to Glasenter and silently rushes at his side to the stairs.

At first, it is a strange sound. A soldier slapping his arm. Then two. And then three. And then a strong buzz, coming from the windows.

The buomman covers her ears and shakes her head, trying very hard to believe that it isn't true. That they didn't come back. They came through the windows she wrote, and it was true, so true.
Five clouds, made of the most annoying flies, enter inside the church, not caring for the woods blocking the windows. They fed on the soldiers, feeding on their blood, making them all howl in desperation.

And then, a powerful force hit the door. The sound resound inside the church, even rivaling with that of the swarms.

Lady Maria shouts loudly; "These swarms are shapeshifting undead who take form of pestilent swarms! All move away and spread out! So you bridgeburners can burn them off with alchemist fire and spells! Normal close combat attacks are inefficient against them, so best if you spread out so they can be dealt with area effect attacks effectively!"

Lady Maria continues provide inspiration and confidence in the crew, but she did not move from her spot. Something big is about come from the doors and she waits in ready to charge in and deliver wrath of Zarus upon intruders on gate.

OOC: Continue give inspire courage bonus, delay action and spoke free action. I rolled what two maneuvers she has ready this round.....they are charging minotaur and Lion's Roar. Also she spends swift action change her stance to Leading the Charge, so all get +7 dmg to charge attacks.

Re: In the church

The second swarm hisses as it is burnt by X'norgun's breath.

Dioumm rushes to the middle of the church, and begins to chant in her humming language. A barrier begins to form around her.

The Zarusian soldiers follow the Bridgeburners in order to not get devoured by the flies. In the meantime, Mitran follows Glasenter to the top of the roof.

And then, a terrible figure smashes the temple's door. It is around twelve feet tall and has a big club on one of his hands. The hood on his head does little to conceal his hardened contexture. He roars, and then, after he gaves some steps into the church, four ghouls appears behind him.

In the meantime, the fourth swarm engulfs X'norgun and the fifth one engulfs Aeron. The other swarms search for prey among the Bridgeburner and the Zarusian soldiers.

Re: In the church

Lady Maria, who was facing the gate, saw it crash and saw the tide of undead come in. She releases a brilliant warcry when she takes short step enter into fray; "For Zarus! Charge and push these wretches out!" She takes firm grip on her greatsword and she makes a powerful slicing attack on GH1, striking it with all wrath what her god can grant to her swordarm! She cleaves the ghoul into half in single powerful blow! Her blade glowing in dark golden glow which slices ghoul as if it was made from paper with her sharp admantine blade!

Without hesitation she shouts loudly; "Strike them down back to the graves where they crawled out from!" She strikes on giant adjacent to her with renewed wrath and fury! Fueled by her own ki channeled shout and commanding presence to make her and people around her strike with power what even undead should make to pause!

OOC: 5'ft step to 17/J as free action. Then full attack while command all Zarusian soldiers to charge on undead in the gate whenever they can (I see Z1 and Z2 able to charge ghouls). I use smite on striking GH1 (using awesome smite tactic; using Overwhelming Strike which means; a trip attack vs the target I smite). I get 18 hit vs AC (hits normal ghoul). I rolled 23pts dmg vs ghoul (downs normal ghoul). I as swift action use boost maneuver; Lion's Roar to give everyone (including myself) +5 morale bonus to all dmg rolls for 1 round (which is end of my next round).

I make my second attack vs the giant, using again Awesome Smite (and Overhwelming Strike tactic to try trip it with smite attack). Make 11 hit vs AC so attack is likely a miss :P.

Special Note; Got Mountain Hammer maneuver in use. Everyone gets +1 to hit/dmg from smite to song (and +2 will save vs fear). Her stance gives in 60'ft radius +7 to all dmg rolls related to charge attacks (mark it to Aeron's dmg if not already). Also all get in 60'ft radius +5 moral bonus to all dmg rolls (which stacks with her stance when person charges). So Aeron may have done +12 more dmg per attack (and +1 more attack bonus).

Her both soldiers in range charge, one hits AC 20 and other AC 22. So both hit their targets (forgot smite to song bonus from attack rolls). They both use longswords (and have shields). Z1 does 21pts slashing dmg and Z2 does 18pts slashing dmg on their targets (ghouls). Normal ghouls should fall down spectacular fashion. I hope Bridgeburners and other chars get use on their charges/moral dmg bonus combination uses this round vs the swarms too.

The Bridgeburners can use their alchemical ammunition in the swarms, but it would be a waste. He gives a look to his dinosaur, communicating him that he trust in him, and then he repositions to a place where he feels will be better for the effect that he pretends to do.

Galú nods. A silent, but sure sign that he is more than just any dinosaur, and that the connection he has with Ezourer is beyond the usual term of pet and master. He was going to attack but now a Bridgeburner is between him and his prey.
He must go closer in order to have a perfect position to charge.

The ghouls are going to finnish Weston when suddenly they stop, unable to touch with their claws the human warrior. However the ghouls in front of Brightmane don't have the same limitations. You can see a whole horde of undead walking to enter the church, behind the giant. Hundreds of them. And then, everyone can see a wall of fire blocking them and a fireball, striking some of them. Glasenter and Mitran are now on the roof and are defending the whole church.

She sees her followers paralyzed by ghouls and she grimaces on awful sight of it; paralyzed now and here means they are going to die! However the giant remains as biggest threat to be dealt with and Aeron is down altough warded now by unseen force.

She knows next blow will down her, no matter what she does this moment....as if sensing her desperation, Zarus provides her answer to her present predictament. Her eyes start to blaze in golden light with fine black line in border of the glow and she growls on the undead montrosity; "You shall not long stand before me! I shall strike you down by wrath of Zarus guiding my hand! No undead wretch, giant of abomination, no elf, no dwarf and no one else than living human is spared from Zarus fury!" Her blade starts blaze in golden fire which has black center in form of her black admantine blade. She howls and strikes with the blazing blade between giant's legs onto his crotch! Pushing her swing all might she can with her body and leap upward, hoping to slice the giant into gorey two halves and then kick herself off from her target with planting her legs on giant's chest and make backflip in mid air in her full plate armor!

She rolls on ground and up after rolling and showing shocking maneuverbillity and acrobatics she slides past all enemies with elusive grace, standing near Ezourer while holding her blade high and ready and says to him; "Heal me, or else we all will fall tonight!"

OOC: Use standard action to use Divine Surge maneuver (last one before all maneuvers refresh). Took full PA penalty to maximum dmg on giant. Then use swift action use armband of elusive action to ignore AoO in next action what I do; which is moving towards Ezourer and to stand in square 14/G (so no enemies get AoO vs her). So Ezourer is 5'ft away from healing Maria with touch spell. Still Maria provides +7 dmg rolls with charges and +1 to attack/dmg rolls via inspire courage sort feature. -2 to saves all enemies near her.
