Delith:Move out

OOC: we can retro a few things, time to move on.

Dualis emerges shortly after entering a room off to one side in the lab.  "Here is your your scroll."  he says  "Now, gather round I think it is time for you to start this quest." you all gather around .. Morteft, Aztar, Shorty, Warwick, Trysk, Joe and Chest.  "OK, we will put you about 100' away from the protective barrier.  From that point you will be able to see your objective as the tower should be easily visible.  There may be a few surprises for you before you get there but nothing too bad I think.  Any questions, no.  To the foyer."

In a blink you all find yourself in the foyer to Omega Base.  "Once outside I will send you on your way, quickly now."  The door to the outside opens with swish and reveals a nice sunny day outside, Dualis moves out and you all follow.  "Remember, once you are in the protected area you will not be able any teleport or dimensional travel and I cannot come to help.  Good luck."  He waves his arm and pop, you all find yourselves in a large underground cavern.  All around you is a city with many large buildings nearby, all still look to be in good shape despite their age.  The whole area is lowly lit by  natural phosphorescence, and the ceiling looks to be several hundred feet above.  You are in a wide street, and off in the near distance you see the tower rising high, the street heads that way.  Besides your breathing, there is very little to be heard."

Shorty's senses do not detect anything familiar.  Although he does get a faint whiff like something is burning in the direction of Joe .. who glows a faint green.  He shrugs, "Not sure how to turn it off."  The chest just sits and waits.

Warwick notices the stone work of the city and it is expertly done, mostly granite and merble.

Re: Delith:Move out

Aztar lowers his sword and nods about the tower being their destination.

Taking a closer look at the alchemist shows that he is equipped a bit differently than before.  He now has two bandoliers crossed over his shoulders holding various steel vials with strange markings on them.  His backpack is different and seems to have a multitude of small pockets sewn into it along with the one main pouch.

And, he has a smaller satchel hanging at his side that looks fairly full as well.   Overall, it doesn't look like it weighs him down, but is certainly more bulky than the man that usually travels with almost nothing obvious.

Re: Delith:Move out

In reply to Warwick (msg # 21):

The group starts walking down the road at a casual pace, keeping an eye out for any danger as well as getting accustomed to the environment. After about 50' you come across buildings with signage, The Wydman Suites, Full Tankard Bar, Gold Lane Inn and Bar, Adventurer's Rest ... mostly inns and bars probably for the next couple of hundred feet at least.  It appears after every second building on either side is a small side street.  As you continue forward you do notice there seems to be a little off visually just up ahead, a shimmer or sheen, similar to what you see just above the surface of sand or rock on a hot sunny day; but this one extends up for at least 50 feet as the effect seems to fade.  You have walked about 100'.

Then replies to Shorty, "You are the first customers in at least 700 years I think."  he continues to smile.

You start down the main road again toward the tall tower.  You pass Inns, guild buildings and other shops.  The Magic Missile Club, Sage Advice, Holy Words, Adventurer's Rest, Golden Sword Club, Cloak and Dagger and various others.  All look to be in excellent condition but no activity can be seen.  You come to a wide 4-way intersection.  On the other side of the intersection it looks like temples are the main feature.  You see at the side of the buildings, etched in stone, about 15' above street level are names - Main Way, is on both buildings to your right and left.  Across the street facing you are N Broad Street, on left building, S Broad Street on the right.  You can make out the ones on the side of the building facing the street you are going to - Gods Lane.   Gods Lane continues toward the tower.

You are about halfway to the tower, nothing but the buildings seem to be around.  The road continues, it appears there is another intersection in about 300'.

You decide to move on down the road.  You walk to the next intersection, you pass 16 temples in all.  Arriving at the intersection you see the cross street is called Summer Street and across from you begins High Magic Street.   The building look to be shops, inns and bars again.  You continue on, after another 150' or so you come upon an 'official' looking building.  The other buildings give this one a wide spacing, it has a wide stone stairway, about 30', with an intricate stone railing.  They go up about 15', at the top it widens into a platform and just beyond are large metal doors.    The building itself is made of white marble.  On either side of the doors are golem like statues, rather large themselves, each has a white X crossing the chest.  Carved in the stone above the doors in large letters is 'Office Of The Peace'.

The road continues, you can now see the building at the base of the tower.  It looks massive, you are still about 1000' away.

High Magic Street looks to continue all the way to main building.  Along the street continue to be buildings of all kinds, shops, inns, bars, the odd temple some other official buildings such as City Tax Gatherer and City Hall.  As you get closer you see a gate surrounds the main building, probably 20' high.  The building itself looks 3 times that height, going off left and right beyond what you can see at 400' out.  The buildings spread out a bit and you see a large building to your left, High Magic University is carved into it stone side in large letters above a large, probably adamantine door.  On the right are smaller buildings, look more like homes.  At 100 feet away there are no buildings between you and the gate.  The main building looks to go on for at least 500'.  You reach the main gate, it is open!  Beyond is the door to the building, some 70' away.

You have encountered nothing along the way, you hear your footsteps that is about all.

As you contemplate the the main building and the high tower of the vault before you, those who have the Dualis coins feel them start to vibrate.  After a few seconds an image of Dualis appears in your midst.

"I see you have made it to the high magic main building.  Hope it was uneventful so far.  A couple of things I wanted to mention.  First, most of the cities peace officers are still functioning, these are golems that will react to 'crime'; so just be wary.  Also, the entry foyer to the main building will undoubtedly have guards as well; however they are not part of the vault guardians so as long as you do not attack them you should be able to pass without incident into the building proper."

The magic around the area is very strong however there seem to be no protective magics.

You all follow Morteft thru the gate toward the main building.  The path to the main entrance looks to be 1 solid piece of marble.  There is green grass on either side.  The path is about 15' and goes straight to the door.  It is eerily quiet around, even in this area.

The doors are double, 10' wide by 15' high, made of mithril says Warwick.

Morteft inspect the doors, again no glyphs or wards of any kind.  He then opens the door.  They push open easily and beyond you see a plain empty room that is incredibly white, some what blinding, it is a 20' cube.  The only thing in the room are 3 golems.  Two at the far wall and one directly in front of you 10' away.  They look similar to what Dualis had; but not quite.  "Appears to be made of mithril" mentions Warwick.  Thru all of this Joe has remained calm.

The golem produces a large book, opened, and a quill.  The book is in its left hand and the quill it holds out in its right.

You see Warwicks name, previous to that are two at the top of the page.

Thrangragoth
Ctzukerig

Morteft notices something odd about the writing,  there is not much space between the names and the way things are arranged and with a little different focus he can see what looks like S E T formed in the middle.  A little broken perhaps but it is there.

After every biped signs the book the golem regards the chest for a moment.  It then closes the book and then both quill and book disappear.

"You may now enter the Sanctum. Enjoy your stay."

A portion of the wall slowly distorts and disappears in between the two golems at the far wall, the opening in 5' wide by 10' high.  Beyond the opening you see a wall as white as the room you are in now.  If the portion of the wall that disappeared did not distort first you may not have known it disappeared at all, there is no contrast.

The lead golem extends an arm toward the opening.

Re: Delith:Move out

In reply to Shorty (msg # 171):

Shorty steps thru the opening, does his smell test and then makes a 'confused' face.  He smells nothing, there are no scents at all.

The rest of you move in and move thru the first section which is a 10x10 area that expands into a 20x20 area.  You almost have to feel for the walls.  There is no contrast and no shadow.  Light is coming from all around as if the walls, floor and ceiling are projecting it.  Once you are all in, the opening behind you is replaced by a wall.

Another 10' beyond you notice passages lead of to the left and right making quick 180 degree turns.

On the far wall some writing begins to appear, as if written in the air.

'Welcome visitors...
Step by step, look left and right.
Go east and west you then may fight
Bound to the north or south
Riddles to solve thru your mouth
Your destination to find
You need a keen mind.'

It hangs around for a few seconds and then fades away.

Actions?
