Delith: To the forest

quote:
Shorty grins and say, Us danger too.  Go now?"

"Yes you are right Shorty, it is time to go."  replies Dualis with some enthusiasm "To the foyer"  in a blink you all find yourself in the large foyer that is the entrance to Dualis keep.  The door is open and a bright day shines thru the doorway.  You step out into the open air.  The day is young and is indeed a bright sunny day.

"If all things go well we should be an hour, no more than two.  We shall Teleport to the outskirts of The Cove and walk the 3 miles to Kaine's cottage."  he turns to Trysk "You may want to put a hood on or something, the local residents usually do not react well to a drow."

Back to Shorty, "Before I forget Shorty, there is one thing you should know about Kaine.  His first major assignment was to defend a small glade against a clan of ogres that was threatening it.  He does not care much for ogres and their ilk.  He has been known as the Ogre Reaper.  He will undoubtedly want to see what rules you.  Sort of the way I did when we first met many years ago."  he smiles.

"Next stop, The Cove"

Dualis puts his hand to his chin, looking deep at Shorty.  "Not really, I guess you do not really remember our first meeting.  No matter."

Looking at Trysk

"That should do just fine."

After which Dualis wave his arms and you all Teleport away.

More to come.

Delith: To the forest

In reply to Ron, The DM (msg # 4):

Almost immediately you all find yourselves in the midst of a huge forest.  The expanse you do not know but the trees themselves are the biggest you have ever seen.  The smallest are perhaps 4' in diameter and the biggest near you is at least 10'.  Most of the others are near 8' wide.  They grow so tall you have to strain your necks to even see near the top.   The branches themselves look to be the size of large trees.  With their sheer size there are large spaces between making travel easy.  Looking off to the west you see quite a few elves and humans walking about, a few dwarves and gnomes as well.  They walk on what could be considered a road thru the trees.  Looking up in their direction you can see buildings in the trees sitting on the tops of the huge limbs of the trees!  You also see large suspended bridges between these buildings with many elves, humans etc. traversing these.
You notice that the path starts to curve away from you at a point just ahead.  You seem to be about 100' off the path at the edge of the curve.  There are a few other wanderers making their way thru the forest heading toward the path.  Your sudden appearance seems to have caused little in the way of a disturbance.  Dualis says: "Welcome to the Cove"  he points over to the east, "Kaine is this way, about 3 miles."  he starts off at a brisk pace.

More to come...

Delith: To the forest

In reply to Warwick (msg # 12):

Dualis nods, "Yes, unfortunately we are on a schedule; otherwise we could stop in at a few choice establishments.  You will have your chance later however as the Dark One has agents in every major city on Delith."  Dualis keeps a brisk pace and you walk on but not much further, maybe 100 yards, he slows.  "Case in point, just coming around that large tree." he motions with his head .. another 60' or so ahead and to your left (North east) is a large tree probably 10' in diameter.  Before whatever comes into view, Shorty feels something is not quite right as if the forest shivers.

Around the tree come a threesome, from left to right. The first is probably a human, dressed in black chainmail and a large black helm with wings shaped like a dragons on the sides.  A large sword, looks to be a bastard, hangs from a belt, the pommel is a dark bronze.

The second is large and bulky, close to 6 1/2 feet tall, makes no effort to hide his appearance.  It is a half-orc, dressed in breast plate, knee length leather britches and big heavy boots covering up to the knee.  A mace hangs from a belt and a three headed flail is strapped to its back, the three heads bounce as the half-orc walks.

The third may be the strangest, of elven stature but dark skinned, not like a drow, the skin is many tones lighter, more of a light brown, like an oak leaf in fall.  He wears no outer armor, carries a staff but also has a slender sword at his side.  There is also a short bow over his shoulder.  He wears a cloak with something bulky underneath and his clothes are an olive green.  Perhaps a mage/fighter combination. He walks smooth and easy.

They are heading for the market.  All three give you a not so friendly glance and they continue on without a word.

More to come ...

Delith: To the forest

In reply to Warwick (msg # 14):

Dualis shakes his head "As I have mentioned before what possible reason would we give for such an act?  What will be seen is Dualis and his entourage taking the law into their own hands, killing willy nilly.  We would be seen as the enemy."  he sighs  "Leave them for now, they will reveal themselves." he points  "We have an appointment to keep."

The trio walks onto the main road, never looking back at you.  The last thing you notice is that each has a large black bear embroidered on his back.

Dualis picks up his pace and even Shorty's long strides barely keeps in step.  Dualis will takes a winding path thru the trees and eventually you see a small cottage up ahead among the trees.  You see a garden being attended by 3 brown robed figures.  The cottage has a porch with 2 wooden chairs.  The cottage itself is made of stone with a thatch roof, the front door is open.  As you approach one of the gardeners looks up and then hurries over to you.  You all can see that he is looking over the group, his eyes widen a bit at Shorty.  When he gets to you he puts up a hand.  "Please state your business with Master Kaine."  he says in a slightly annoyed tone.  Dualis replies "We have an arranged meeting with Master Kaine.  He is to asses a candidate."  Dualis indicates Shorty, the man gives a skeptical look, nods and heads off to the cottage.

A few moments later the first man exists followed by a tall man in brown and green robes with a well kept black beard and shoulder length black hair.  A gold robe belt is tied about his waist.  He stops at the edge of the porch and briefly looks at you all.  He then steps off and walks over to you, the man has deep brown eyes.  He nods at Dualis.  "I see you have brought your class.  I suppose I am to look over this tall ugly one."  he continues "Please all state you name and intentions."

Kaine takes the axe from Warwick without a word, practically snatching it from Warwick's hand.  He briefly runs his hand over the head and then studies the handle for a while.  He speaks without looking up from the axe.

"Indeed this is Troll Carver" he says wit a milder tone "the handle is unmistakable, and it was reforged as you say .. with an alien metal."  he looks at Warwick and begins to hand the axe back to him almost in slow motion.  "Forgive me Lord Warwick, Dualis did not mention he was bringing Nobility as well.  Another one of his games no doubt."  he says without looking at Dualis  "Are you truly apart of this .. band?" he asks Warwick

Dualis smirks.  "You know how I like games Kaine, as a matter of fact I am having a game night in two weeks."  Kaine just ignores him waiting for Warwick's answer.

Shorty smiles at Warwick and then meets the gaze of the Druid.  "Me be Shorty.  Me bees here to helps friend Sticks.  Gonna saves big Drud in udder place keep trees safe."  Shorty pulls out a necklace from inside his armor.  Hanging at the end of the chain are two pitted holy symbols that appear to have been pressed together with great strength.  The top one is a unicorn pressed into what appears to be an evergreen tree with mistletoe on it.  Both are somewhat pitted as if eaten at by a strong acid.

Shorty runs his fingers over it before continuing.  "Me know Druids since long time.  Drud n Elf Lard teaches Shorty takes care on everything that be smaller den Shorty.  Teaches me bouts Lady from Forest.  Dragon kills both and makes big messes of grove.  Shorty fix tree and den finds dragon.  Dragon not hurts no more tree n no more friends.  So if youse wants picks on Shorty like Dullis do sometimes.  Me not care long as save Sticks n him home."

Shorty shakes his head and mutters something about too many words.

Kaine listens to Shorty, puts his hand to his chin, smiles slightly when Shorty mentions Dualis, raises an eyebrow when Shorty produces the medallion and again when Shorty finishes.

He keeps silent until he responds to Morteft and then surveys Shorty once more.

"We shall continue in the cottage .. Engles, Mohler, we have guest prepare the table." he commands and the the two others from the garden get up and hurry into the cottage.  "Follow me, we shall have some tea and stew as we proceed."

He begins walking over to the cottage and goes inside.  You follow into the cottage and see that it fairly open with at least two main sections.  The first section is a large sitting, area, 15x25, where a table now dominates the space and is being set by Engles and Mohler.  There are 4 wood benches, one on each side of the table The inside looks to be made of a variety of woods, oak, hickory, pine and beech are a few. There is also a fire place with a nice fire going.  Beyond is a kitchen and what may be a study as you see a large bookshelf.  Kaine motions for you to take seats.  "Please sit, we have a variety of herbal teas and a nice venison stew.  Anyone interested?"  Kaine asks

The group eats and drinks, the subordinate druids attend to whoever wants more of anything.  A few minutes go by and Kaine abruptly directs a question at Shorty.
"Why is someone of your ilk interested in defending the things of nature and the weak when your kind typically destroys and tramples the weak?"

Warwick floats towards the door.  "Oh, and we had several urgent missions to choose from.  We're doing this one first, because Shorty argued this was the most urgent.  Ye'd be a fool to damn a world because of ye can't see what's obvious to the rest of us."

Delith: To the forest

In reply to Shorty (msg # 54):

Kaine does not react to any of you, just takes a sip of his tea.

Trysk is the last to get up.  He hesitates momentarily, he senses something is not quite right; but not sure what it is.  He turns and walks to the door.

Kaine puts down his cup and whispers, only Trysk's elven ears can hear, "Shame, he was close."  Then Trysk is outside.

Dualis reappears on the front porch and exclaims "Mission accomplished." he has a slight smile which turns into a frown when he looks at you all, then grunts

"I take it things did not go well?"  he looks over his shoulder at the cottage  "Nothing broken .. can some one explain?"

he waits.

Morteft shrugs and says, "The man cannot accept that the world changes. His mind has solidified. Surprising in a druid if you ask me. I know that as one ages, the mind tends to close to new ideas, but nature is ever changing. I expected something different here. We can work without him."

"He was more concerned about that old philosophical question if a tree falls and no one is around to hear it, does it make noise.  I've argued both sides of that question successfully, but it's not really answerable."

"He was being very rude to Shorty and we had enough of it, so we left.  If he can't figure out that Shorty ain't like any other ogre he's ever met, then his brain is addled."

In reply to Warwick (msg # 57):

Dualis listens to both Warwick and Morteft.  He then rubs his face with his hand, goes to speak and then hesitates.  "It appears something got lost in translation and I suppose it is my fault as I must have explained the purpose of our visit unsatisfactorily.  Let me have another go." he pauses again "Now, we came here so Kaine could get a look at Shorty and determine if he has some necessary qualities.  Not for the purpose of joining your little band to fight on Arcturus.  No, it was for the purpose of coming to Arcturus as a representative of this worlds sylvan guardians and support Shorty's candidacy for the Green Knight.  A most prestigious position with the utmost dedication needed."  he looks at you all

"Without Kaine's support Shorty has no chance to become the Green Knight.  Kaine is not going to give that support blindly.  I tried to warn you that his questions may be a little sharp, to see how Shorty reacts.  Does he react with anger as a normal ogre would or has he grown beyond that aspect."  he rubs his chin  "You are telling me you walked out after the falling tree in the forest question!?  That is one I thought Shorty would do well with answering."  he looks over at Warwick  "You are only looking at the surface of the question.  For the druids it is a much deeper question, concerning nature itself.  You and I would work out some logical answer; but the druids have a different view point." he takes a breath

"Have I made anything clearer?"

"I whole heartedly agree with you Trysk." remarks Dualis "and while I agree with you to a point Morteft, I have found that the ignorant, closed-minded and rude are often starring at you in the mirror.  My reputation is less than sparkling due to similar instances.  It seems you have judged another on very little information .. food for thought."  he quickly continues

"Now the prestige is not the title such as 'hey why don't you come to dinner or endorse this product' the prestige is in what the title represents in the individual.  Those who know the title know the type of individual associated with it, strength of character, dedicated to help those weaker, those in need, those taken advantage of, exploited.  The very earth knows the individual.  With great power comes great responsibility."

In reply to Shorty (msg # 68):

You walk along, Knowman listens to Shorty's tale.  Dualis has not emerged from the cottage yet.

Knowman waits a few moments before replying, "You are right Shorty, the outside does not always show what is on the inside.  It is not always easy to tell what a person is like on the inside.  Now the druid, I do not know why he does not want to help.  Maybe he does but he cannot because of some druid code.  There are things they can and cannot do especially the higher level ones." he points at a very colorful bird sitting on a branch in one of the trees.  "There is a very nice pub in the Cove if that is where you are going" he says to Morteft and Trysk

"Back to the questions.  I know the question you speak of, the tree question.  I also know of different groups of people that if you want to join them they will have some tests as well as strange questions are part of the tests.  It may not be important what the answer is but how the question is answered.  Do you answer in anger, disrespect, not caring or with courtesy. Sometimes both matter, what the answer is as well as how it was answered.  The reason this is done is to try to find out what is on the inside of a person, the type of person they are.  It has been said 'what comes out of a man is the overflow of his heart'.  Which means that what type of a person you are will often come out as you speak and the questions they ask will help bring it out.
I hope I did not confuse you.  I think what the druid may have been doing was to ask questions to see how you react.  He wanted to see your heart, not your actual heart but, what type of person you are on the inside."  he pats Shorty on the back
"Did you answer with courtesy or where you frustrated, confused and answered with not so much courtesy?"

They walk a few more steps.  Knowman says.

You look up and see Kaine and Shorty coming over to the table.  You may also notice quite a few of the patrons are looking at them as well.

When they arrive Kaine comments:"I see you are enjoying one of our fine local establishments." he gives a slight quizzical look at Morteft with his army of drinks before him.

In reply to Morteft (msg # 90):

Dualis waits for all the fun and games to be over, he stands up.  "I think we can head back now."

You all get up, Dualis pays the check and then you exit the Red Robin and down to the forest floor using the large platform.  You walk off away from the Cove for about 500 yards, the trees get smaller and a little tighter together.

Then suddenly, in an instant you find yourself in the field just outside of Dualis keep.  In an instant the scenery changed but there was no change in your movement no sensation of travel besides your feet hitting the ground.  It is a bright sunny day out.

Without turning around Dualis says to Kaine, "Welcome to my domain."  Kaine stops and looks around, takes a deep breath and bends down to feel the grass.  "What is this place?  Are we still on Delith?  It does not speak to me as the rest of Delith does."

Dualis shows a slight smile. "You may not approve Kaine; I have done a small bit of terraforming."

Kaine just says with slight contempt "Mages."

You walk over to the entrance to his keep which you are now all familiar with and brings Kaine in last.  In the foyer is Trinny, in her fuchsia dress, and RockJaw.

She says, "Greetings everyone, a pleasure Kaine." Kaine nods, she continues "The dining room is ready."

You walk thru the large double doors and into the dining room.  The large obsidian table is set with all manner of food and drink.  The room is well lit and the obsidian floor sparkles in the light as if littered with stars.

"Please take a seat, we shall start in a moment."  he leaves out the far door of the room.

Trinny and RockJaw wait.

Delith: To the forest

In reply to Morteft (msg # 98):

Dualis returns momentarily, he walks over and stands and the head of the table.

"Before we go to Arcturus" he begins "there are a few details we need to go over such as etiquette and protocol."  The first thing we shall be doing is meeting with their Woodland Council or at least what is left of them and can attend.  When we meet, please do not speak unless you are addressed, Kaine and I will address them as representatives of Delith and the sponsors of Shorty to be considered for the order of the Green Knight." he pauses looks at Warwick "Now Lord Warwick may be given some latitude as he is a noble; however it will be small.  It is the formality of the meeting you must understand."  he begins to walk around the table and continues...

"We will go to Arcturus thru the portal and we will then meet with five council members, three are Treants, one being Hicks as well as a Unicorn and a Nymph.  The formal greeting should not take long after which we will present Shorty.  They will discuss at some length and provide some judgement on Shorty, then most likely a brief ceremony.  Some normal pleasantries will be shared followed by the almost certain preparation for the encounter with the ignoble nine.  That should conclude the opening ceremonies."

Dualis pauses waiting for any reactions.

Delith: To the forest

In reply to Ron, The DM (msg # 106):

Dualis continues to walk around the table.
"The world of Arcturus is dominated by forests, or at least it was, there are no major oceans.  Most of the water on the planet is fresh either in rivers or lakes.  There are a few very large lakes even bigger then Delith's Great Lake."  as Dualis speaks an image forms above the table of a large spinning green and blue ball; what you assume to be the planet of Arcturus. The patches of green are doted by blue and you also see several very large areas of blue of irregular shapes.
As image rotates some of the green areas begin to turn brown.  "As I mentioned before it was dominated by forests; however the forces of Set have ravaged the planet and destroyed large sections of forest."  More than half the green is replaced by brown as Dualis speaks. "You also may notice from the image that there are no major mountain regions.  Our first destination is here."  A yellow dot appears on the spinning globe near the middle of one of the larger green patches that is remaining.
"The Grand Druid is located approximately here."  a blue dot appears on the globe, it is located in a large brown patch and is near one of the remaining green patches. "He is actually on the edge of the most elevated region on Arcturus."  The image over the table changes as it appears you begin to move toward it and descend into it.  You descend through clouds and begin to drop to almost ground level, maybe several hundred feet above the surface.  You 'fly' over tress and then enter a desolated area which shows mostly tree stumps, burned by either fire or acid and no other vegetation.  You continue toward what looks like an elevated area and you can see vegetation starting to reappear about halfway up the hills.
"There are some caves in this area and this is where he prepares for their assault.  Your adversaries are still somewhat scattered as they converge on the area."  The image goes back outward to reveal nine red dots near the desolated area, these dots move slowly toward the blue dot.

"Any questions?"  Dualis stops momentarily.

"Now, they are all lieutenants of Set which means each one of them has the ability to transform themselves into a bear, a giant scorpion or a giant snake.
The first one is Nolan, he is a human mage.  His thirst for power made him a perfect candidate for Set, as he does not care how he gets his power.  He was on a planet that Set was conquering and he eagerly helped out, more so for survival.  Ruthless and cunning, two traits Set likes, he sacrificed his known family in a bizarre ritual that temporarily boosted his life force giving him some unique powers to help secure the world.  The power eventually faded but his thirst increased greatly.  As a reward Set granted him an imp familiar which of course boosts his powers further.  He is one rank higher than you Morteft, normally, two with the imp.  Various wizard paraphernalia at his disposal, he is definitely someone you want to target early as he can do some serious damage if left unchecked in battle too long."

"It may be surprising that he is not Sets favorite of the group even thought he probably thinks he is, we will get to the favorite later.  Fjord is more or less a typical cleric, he likes to melee and uses spells to assist, not much of a healer.  He has a special item, either the rod or mace, I am not sure which one.  He will fight to the death as failure is not an option for priests of Set.  Not the strongest, not the weakest, just tough."

This is Seleena's third take over mission, second as an active combatant.  She is 12th rank in both and uses them well in combination.  She does enjoy combat and her favorite weapon is her long sword which is a sword of Wounding.  When she fights two handed she uses a dagger of Venom for her other weapon.  She likes flanking maneuvers and is very adept at it for she is extremely quick.  She does not like quick kills because she enjoys others suffering and her arrogance in her abilities could give you a slight advantage when going one on one.  Make no mistake she will go for the kill quickly if pressed or at a disadvantage.  She has never fought a druid before and she is looking forward to her first meeting."

From what I can tell Set use the last two as a kind of enforcer unit.  If Set is displeased with one of his minions then they will get a visit from one of these two, dispatching the offending individual."

He has a trap set for the 9 I have no doubt, however it will not be enough.  I think he can hold them off for maybe 3-5 days once they reach him, 7 at the outside."

"The teleportation is similar to a Word of Recall but aligned with the individual team so they should only be able to Teleport to each other.

As far as traps, I mainly refer to a trap along the lines of an ambush.  A Grand Druid has considerable power and attuned to nature.  Allannon will have considerable resources to throw at them."

"Quite right, this Lord is anxious, it is time to go."  He waves an arm and first a light shines in the air about 10' away then as if swiveling on an axis the sight of a forest becomes visible beyond.  Looking like a painting hanging in mid air.  The forest is somewhat think but light enough to see it is day.  The trees look mostly of hardwoods, oak, maple, hickory and all look mature.  The forest extends and eventually blocks your view beyond. You see no movement beyond.

Dualis motions to Shorty, "You have been there before Shorty, lead the way."  Kaine remarks "The Sylvan Wood."

OOC: I will assume that all walk thru.

You all walk thru the portal, which closes behind you.  The air is cool and rich.  You feel a slight surge of energy as you breath.  You are in a forest of large mature trees.  The sunshine does not reach the ground but is filtered thru all the leaves, still it is bright enough to know it is near mid day.  Very little ground cover can be seen, a few shrubs and bushes here and there.

Dualis points to his right.  "Just over here we will meet with the council.  Remember initial introductions will be thru myself and Kaine.  They are very friendly but also hold to tradition.  You can respond if spoken to directly, other than that I will let you know when you can engage in open conversation."

You begin a walk thru the trees, there is no obvious path, Dualis weaves his way thru the trees.  Up ahead is a large rock, about 50' wide at it's base and about 30' high.  The left side has a more gradual slope to the top than the right side, the top itself is a small platform of sorts, it looks flat for about 6 feet.  The rock itself is a bit of a clearing, no tree is within 20' of it.  You stop before the rock, just inside the closest tree.  "We wait here for their arrival."

Delith: To the forest

In reply to Warwick (msg # 180):

OOC: Ok here we go

You wait in the clearing for about 10 minutes as the bird sings - just one.  You then hear trees rustling and just above the boulder in front of you there are branches moving.  It does appear a number of the branches are moving closer after a short time they start to move apart, more to your right then the left.  You may have noticed the bird has stopped singing, as a matter of fact there is very little sound at all.
As the branches split off you can get an idea that the branches are from 3 different trees.  Coming around the edges of the boulder you begin to see 2 trees, a hickory on the left and a walnut on the right.   These are followed by a cherry tree on the right, with a unicorn and nymph on the left.  They walk in front of the boulder with the hickory in the middle flanked by the unicorn then nymph on the left and the walnut then cherry on the right.  They stand there for a few moments - you notice that the hickory seems to have a large emerald embedded in its trunk - they stopped just in front of the rock 20' away.
Then the hickory speaks with a booming bass voice.  'The Woodland Council is Gathered.  We are here to consider a whelp for the privilege of becoming the Green Knight of Arcturus.  Members of the council, I have myself witnessed the whelp care for a tree without request or compulsion and one not of his own world for he is an off-worlder.  The law is that three must speak for the whelp and so two of renown from his world will speak for him."  He motions towards you to come forward - Dualis with one hand slightly behind his back motions for the rest of you to stay where you are.  "Come forth and be recognized" says the hickory.

Both Dualis and Kaine move forward and stop before the big hickory.  First Dualis, "I am Dualis, Magerus Primus of Delith, Keeper of the Light of the Sigil."  followed by Kaine "I am Kaine, representing the Druid Order of Delith."
The hickory responds "The Council recognizes Dualis and Kaine of Delith.  What do you have to say in this whelps defense."

Dualis speaks: "Woodland Council, I present the whelp, Shorty.  I have known him for many years and I have found him to be good in heart and caring for all around him.  Even when faced with overwhelming odds.  He is true."  Kaine then says: "I have only known Shorty briefly and seen with my own spirit that he his pure and true.  He has passed the test of the Druids."  Some of the council nod at Kaine's last statement."

The hickory speaks: It is well what you say.  However since this is concerns a non-Arcturan, you must enter the council circle."  The rest of the council members move to surround Dualis and Kaine.  For 10 minutes you hear muffled voices from the group but nothing you can discern.  The the circle breaks and the council forms their line again.

"The Council will retreat for deliberation."  The Council moves off behind the rock.  Dualis and Kaine stay where they are.  Dualis turns quickly and mouths OK to you.  Another 20 minutes goes by and the Council returns to their places.

"It is decided" says the hickory, "Bring forth the one known as Shorty."

In reply to Shorty (msg # 182):

The council watches as Shorty steps forward.  Shorty notices the hickory tree is his friend Hicks.  When he speaks to the unicorn only the cherry and the nymph noticeably react, it is slight in both cases and it is a slight widening of the eyes.

As Shorty looks at Dualis, all the mage does is rolls his eyes.  He then takes a barely noticeable breath and gives Shorty a smile.

Hicks then speaks: "You know you were forbidden to speak and yet you do so; you present yourself to do the Lord of Unicorns bidding and you respected the direction of your teachers."  he pauses  "I believe this also shows the depth of his care.  I acknowledge the guides of Shorty and what they have taught you.  What say you council?"  The others take a little time but eventually nod, the nymph is the last.

Dualis breathes out.  Kaine opens his eyes again.

"It is well" says Hicks  "Shorty of Delith, we have two conditions for you knighthood.  The first is to do your best to rid this world of the foul invaders.  The second will be requested if you complete the first.  Rise and respond."

The cherry regards Trysk.  "I am Sherri" says the tree in a rich female voice.  "The drow on this world are all gone for hundreds of years.  I have personally never seen one till now.  I gather you are not of the 'mainstream' drow?  You are an interesting folk apart from your ignoble reputation."

Delith: To the forest

In reply to Warwick (msg # 202):

"Yes, he seems to have a good heart.  Dualis has told us of you all, he speaks well of all of you and the many things you have done on your world.  We are hopeful you can be victorious here as well.
The trouble you speak of is, it is difficult to say when it actually started.  It was subtle at first, just a few incidents that where outside the norm.  Maybe 10 years later very large problems would arise and then all out war.  where we are at now seemed to come very quickly indeed.  They seems to build up in secret and then attack in force."

In reply to Shorty (msg # 207):

Hicks replies :"Ah but I believe a goddess of yours uses owls.  I believe you know one.  He teaches your dragon friend." he then pauses and gives a quizzical look to Shorty's next comment.  "Well yes Shorty, our plan is you and your friends."

As Shorty moves over to the Nymph, Kaine sees his approach and finishes his conversation with a slight head nod.  Kaine nods to Shorty and moves to talk with Hicks.

"Welcome Shorty, welcome to Arcturus." says the nymph in a high pitched but pleasant voice, like a light spring breeze thru the trees.

Despite their great accomplishments, they are full of chaos and wanton destruction. They would look at you and see lumber or firewood. Are you a treant, by chance, or perhaps something greater?"

The unicorn regards Warwick: "We are a young world relatively I am told.  We did not have major cities, large villages, tribal.  Dualis says we were 'easy pickings'.  I do not fully understand his explanation but it happened in a way he imagined.
An army from your world would have lead to greater conflict.  Small team versus small team it must be.  We are grateful for your efforts.  We hope Shorty will pass the tests for the Green Knight."

Warwick waves it off.  "Nah, that's not a problem.  We're adventurers.  Doesn't matter if it's 10 miles from our home or a world away, it's part of what we do.  The hardest part is the nature of this assignment.  We're tackling a lot of unknowns and fighting for a whole world."

"Very well, gather around."  Dualis waves you all over to himself.  "I will be able to Teleport you near where Alannon is located, within 1 mile at any rate.  Set's forces are gathering nearby as well.  Alannon will not be easy to find, he has concealed himself well. Head for the nearest group of trees you see once you arrive.  He should be making preparations in the forest.  If you engage Sets forces before meeting Alannon I would suggest a hit and run strategy; depending on the situation obviously."  Dualis smiles slightly - but not one of joy.

"This will be the last aid I can provide on this quest." he says without emotion  "I can monitor but not directly intervene.  Good luck to you all."  Before Dualis begins to cast, Kaine interrupts.  "I have one more thing."  he walks over to Shorty and holds out a silver chain with an oak leaf medallion.  "Keep this with you Shorty and may the spirit of this world be with you."  he smiles and steps back.

Dualis nods at Kaine, looks at you all and says "Ready." *pop*
