OOC-3

I think there are limits on the 'size/frequency' of stuff that can go through a gate. Though it definitely would help.

Would probably even be worth the investment of 'researching a new spell that could be made more permenant and let more stuff through'

Well there is that Gate in the basement. And the location of other known gates was not fully mapped out when last I was here. I can rattle off some effects you were exposed to in the past, or write a small narrative about my many exploits ;).

Give me an hour or two and I can get a nice summary put together.

OOC-3

so here is a little ooc character refresher on Herkimer which would not give anything away above and beyond your exposure to him in previous travels - sorry if some details are missing, but I need a little mystery here ;)

Herkimer was the young protege of Master Aedan of the court. The apprentice learned much from the master except how to make his voice sexy, as if two boulders were rubbing together. Most people would agree having a conversation with Herkimer was much preferred to his master. From a somewhat well to do family Herkimer was spoiled as a merchant's son could be, but never wanted the life he had been allotted. With a natural talent for magic he was whisked away and learned all that he could - sadly it was learning what he could and not what his teachers thought he should. Regardless he made a name for himself and appeared one day under the employ of the beautiful, most fair, downright jaw dropping, bodacious, Lady Airis (which Herkimer is at least a man of some measure of honor, maybe not of the stuff of legend or that honorable knights are made of, but enough honor to leave well enough alone now that she's married). There he flourished (coincidentally, he also appeared, unexpectedly in her employ, through a teleportation mishap. perhaps he is destined for...mediocrity in teleportation?).
During his travels he's been known to throw a fireball or two, haggle profusely over prices, not hold his alcohol, get lost in his thoughts, distracted by a passing gadget/fancy/opportunity to learn a spell. And he forgets a lot.

so - let's see, where were we. oh yes.

His grimoire is his life! That baby helps him remember his spells. Gosh, if that were to disappear he'd be no better off than a pauper in the street. While those close to him can obviously see this reliance he does not make a big show of it, most other wizards in the court's employ do not seem to have this crutch. Regardless he is known to often times fly high above the party as a hawk, a form he has favored for years and has added his own flair as a pattern of purple feathers grace his wings. Otherwise he knows a smattering of things from most of the major colleges, he detests necromancy and has a fondness for plants. He's helped shift tons of earth to build a makeshift structure around a gate in the plains (the first they had found), healing the party of scrapes, cuts, bruises, gashes, wounds and lonely hearts. He has also acted as a messenger to those he knows through, wait for it, HIS MIND. And finally he was an outspoken adviser who has several spells to aid in situations where, as emissaries, language would have been a problem.

well that didn't turn out as expected. There you go. A Herkimer primer with a brief explanation of some of his spells.

In reply to Herkimer (msg # 66):

Much more briefly, since John likes keeping to himself and, in truth, likes to be forgotten, knows spells in the fields of Illusion, Healing, Movement (such as haste) and enchantment. Oh, and he has some warding spells for keeping watch, and may have been experimenting learning more, but you would never know...

Though what fun roleplay opportunity if that slipped every now and then!  Wonderful.

I think between John and Herkimer we'll have most things covered pretty well. It seems that these two will be force multipliers. Haste and flight.. oh god that makes me giddy with the slashy goodness.

Haha, thanks Chloe! You can always share Herkimers pipe! Though it's usually a matter of finding where he put it.

In reply to Wulfe The Pretty (msg # 74):

He is a shoulder dragon that can take the form of a dove. In appearance only, anyway. You probably would have seen him around, and that is why he was the ambassador to the dragons...

Re: OOC-3

Herkimer is a velvety smooth character and has a light touch. I'd wager neither are startled, perhaps only pleasantly surprised.

I think your safe... Herkimer has nothing in his disadvantages to be concerned about in that vein and his skills do not include proctologist.
