Herkimer:
Wulfe, I'm on your side. That being said, I'm not sure the GM can tell us how Wulfe should feel? I'd support making a roll or two in our story thread to gain some insight into your question. Seems appropriate there.
like "Hugh, go scout the immediate area, how defensible is our position. You! Go look over there and do this, report back within 5 minutes!!!"
Maybe we should call together the "heroes" for a pow wow to discuss our action in story?
Well, I kind of disagree for the following reasons:
- Wulfe has a much better understanding of the immediate surroundings. He knows that the bush over in X can be used to slow down enemies because it has thorns in it.. but I, as a player, don't have the same resolution in terms of understanding the area.
- He is also a well-practiced soldier that would know, implicitly that a 'force of X, with a Y-level defensible place would be able to hold off an enemy consisting of Z people reasonably well' Similarly, taking consideration of peoplese' weapons, the health of the current soldiers, the 'feeling' he is getting from the defeated enemy.
- In addition, Wulfe woul dhave a fairly strong feeling of how he compared in ability to 'the average soldier' - especially true when considering how willing a wounded or frightened bunch of them would fight together - how well the enemy seemed to be organised etc.
Ultimately, it's a way of abstracting the general idea of 'tactics'. (which i rolled) and really just relies upon the GM's decision about a bunch of things, such as information about how skilled/trained/well-moraled the enemy are that I, as the player, don't have access to that Wulfe would (know).
