Herkimer looked over at Thomas as he reached out.

"If you always want to do it yourself then sure. Wouldnt it be nicer if we werent needed at all?"

Herkimer raises his eyebrow at Thomas.

"Your trust in my abilities, while complimentary, are misplaced."

Herkimer turns and draws power in, quickly, forcefully.

The fireball Bursts on his magical armor, but the over matching damage comes through burning him fairly seriously  and causing him to lose concentration.

Herkimer wastes no time. A smile, etched on his face, he stepped a bit closer.

He clasps his hands together, stretches them wide, conjuring a as large as he just had.

"Any last words, no nevermind, don't answer that."

Throwing the fire down upon the burnt figure already he immolated the figure before him.

Wulfe grunted as he hit something that he couldn't fathom. It felt like a wall and he had to do a double take as he pulled back and shrugged his shoulder, that'd be bruised.

The next fire ball is even more consuming, the man's scream quickly winds down to a whimper as he is hideously burned, soldier turn their heads, maids vomit...  but the man still lives and draws breathe.

Re: Oakwood's Ordeal

Herkimer turned to the rest of those that are contained here.

"I seriously hope everyone understands their predicament. Don't let this... person, serve as your example. Live another day and enjoy the hospitality of Wulfe and Lady Chloe."

With that Herkimer turns and walks away.
"Quill, let me take this moment to remind you that when i ask you to do something, do it."

Herkimer moves to Wulfe.
"Lead pleased before I lose more of my patience."
It was as much a show as it was true.

In reply to Master of Fates (msg # 927):

Thomas considers letting it end there, but such a burned and hostile mage was unlikely to ever give up in his hatred of the crown and the forces representing it that had done this to him.

"Such an example should not be made to suffer further, but should still serve as an example for others."

He reached out and touched the man.

Re: Oakwood's Ordeal

OK, let's finish this... 16 student mages, all from Megalos and all NOT of Noble Birth are here being taught by the two mages up stairs.

Both of the mages upstairs have now been "Stoned" for the evening; guard is mounted and the castle prepared to defend.

In the early hours of the Morning, Brance's Army starts to stream back and demand entry.   They of course get Raspberries (rude noises made with the lips) and there is considerable turmoil outside. An effort is made to come in using the Cemetery tunnel, but it is doomed to fail. Come Morning, there are numerous forces, mounted and afoot and a fairly lively arrow exchange. The Mounted men draw immediate comment from the Men of the Stone, who recognize them as Knights Hospitaler ... a Megalian religious order.  Several Knights Templar are also seen, surprising as Templars and Knights Hospitaler are extreme rivals.

Soon the Army of Caithness approaches and most of Brance's army flees; the few steady units  form up and march away as well. You are not able to pick out a command group nor any sort of over all leadership. By Noon the Kings forces surround the castle and his generals come in to congratulate you on slamming the door.

However there is a serious issue within the castle starting in the wee hours of pre-dawn. An alarm is sounded, the two stoned Mages are gone.  It is some time before anyone intrudes on Wulfe and Chloe, only to find Wulfe is stone, obviously in the midst of a sword strike. Lady Chloe is gone... her clothing lies about, so obviously taken in just her night clothes.  It takes some time to get various observations and build a likely story.

Somebody or thing flew in before dawn... the Guards thought it a disturbed Raven, then the two mages guards were struck with Deathtouch without raising an alarm. Then apparently the two mages were de-stoned, likely healed and the group went and found Wulfe and Chloe with out alerting any guards.  However at least one of the young mages keeps talking about all the magic being used... he couldn't sleep.

Quill is able t de-stone Wulfe who remembers little past someone coming in on them.

You are all know at Lunch with the Commanders of the Army of Caithness.

Re: Oakwood's Ordeal

As Wulfe strode around in the following day, those that knew him most realised that he was simply looking for things to do to keep himself occupied and put together some of the turmoil inside his head; those who didn't quickly realised that he was a maelstrom that marauded through the castle. His fuse was short and his reactions were explosive, to say the least.

"You! he snapped, speaking to the young mage that had been talking of the magic that was used.

Re: Oakwood's Ordeal

Herkimer woke from the night's respite and admired the form next to him. He wondered for a moment how long this would last. Would it endure? He banished the question, of course it would be fine, he could see no reason why it should end. Putting on a robe he shook her gently, it was time to see to the new day.

"Now Wulfe, if you snap at one of my mages again you may find yourself stone once more. Either go sit in the corner until you can calm down or fill in what details you can remember for those of us still unsure what befell you."

Herkier stood in simple robes, a look of boredom on his face. He was neither studying nor drinking, the latter he had largely given up due to his penchant to fire off magic at the most inappropriate times. Also Jaeleen disapproved, and keeping her happy made his life... simpler.
