Pursuing Templars

In reply to Master of Fates (msg # 1):

"We should only need food, as I can create water as we go to lighten our load. Perhaps Rascallion can fly up and kill a nice deer ahead of us...or scout for the enemy, but he will need to stay well clear of them."

Wulfe hadn't dallied to converse or give plans. People had ensured the safety of Oakwood and he would present his offer to the King and Queen upon his return, should Chloe and the babe be returned safely.

"If Rascallion can fly.. have him head out as far as he can and as high as he can to try and spot the fleeing Templars. I suppose they'll be heading towards Megalos, my guess to the nearest city so he should be able to spot them at least and lead us in the right direction.

We make haste.

he said as he kicked his horse, Cutlass into a fast gallop.

Slow some good Ser or your horse will fail within the hour... a steady trot will serve you better.  On of the old Cavalry troopers says.

"Aye, a dead horse is no good, eh?" he sighed out, resigned.

Aye, but we have oats and I'll bet they don't which may cause their horses some bloating , be sure to tire them more quickly too.  the old Cavalry man said.

Aye and a steady trot with regular rests will cover the most ground quickly. Less they got a knowledgable rider among them, we'll catch 'em soon enough.

Wulfe growled under his breath. The current mood did not support any form of tactic that involved patience. He was eager and could feel the anticipation of what was to come as he replayed the fantasies of his blade cutting flesh.

"What's Rascallion say Tom?

"Templars have magic, right? How will you stop them turning one of us to stone? he said with a grimace, remembering the encounter with no fondness. (OOC: asking all the wizards)

Pursuing Templars

It will be night fall before Rascalluon returns,
He relays that they are about an hours flight ahead, but took a less travelled road  headed more East than south; they don’t expect pursuit as they have magically erased thei tracks for several miles from the turn off. Chloe has been drugged or magically in capacitated. They have not been gentle, but aren’t especially mean either and none seem to have taken any liberties with her. Their horses are exhausted and they will likely need to find new mounts.

The old soldier insists that you stop and rest, both the Horses and the People.

Pursuing Templars

Wulfe had one hand on the reins and the other gripping the hilt of his sword until his knuckles were white. Drugged, and magically incapacitated. (OOC: do we know the state of treatment). He was relieved to find that they hadn't taken advantage of her, or treated her roughly but seethed at the thought that it could yet still happen.

He was stiff as he set down for camp but after having heard the information he asked "What's an hours flight on horse? How long before we catch up?"

Pursuing Templars

In reply to Wulfe The Pretty (msg # 19):

"Still a couple of hours by horse I am afraid. But the good news is that they will not be racing, as they believe they have escaped. If they have been using magic for several miles, some of them will be magically fatigued in addition to the fatigue from travel.

With regards to Magic, the best defence is to not let them cast the spell, or touch you. Failing that, we just do as we can...

Overnight two different groups attempt to attack your camp. The first group runs in terror when Jaeleen calls up a fireball; Herkimer later tells her bad thinking, but good outcome ... fireballs near your camp in the forest is unwise.

The second group attacks in the wee hours of the morning, but the horses alerted the guards who had everyone up and ready; the fight was very short when they realized you were ready for them and they quickly withdrew. Both just seemed to be wandering groups of Mercenaries trying to escape.

Yes, you grab one from the second group. Typical mercenary, just trying to get out of Oakwood... basically they had no food and little money, local towns meet them with open pitchforks.

Wulfe had hold of the man by the collar and all but threw him into the middle of the camp "Attack us while we sleep will you!" then proceeded to kick the man in the ribs..

It took a while for Wulfe to calm down, but he didnt press the man too hard and eventually realised that he was caught up in the anger.

"Sit down there... and you try to escape or anything funny and I'll geld you myself" he snarled at the man.

Noting that THomas was moving forward to try a more finessed appraoch, Wulfe just became stoic again and sat by their small fire, and started chewing on some cooked meat. Close enough to listen but otherwise unengaging with their captive.

The man is duly terrified by Wulfe and is very hard to get much out of, but it quickly becomes clear he doesn't know a thing a bout Templars.
He isn't very knowledgable about anything except a man names Gwund gathered up the group and is the leader. They have no food and the locals are unfriendly.
