"This is a job where saving people from being eaten alive by monsters ten times their size, makes them complain that something else will kill them later.  So a speech about property is not going to come across as well meaning no matter the context"

He'll let somebody else bother asking if the quilt has any notable patterns on it, given she's oh so concerned about people touching her stuff.  Sorry Bridget.

Bridget's room is about the same as the last time Mittens examined it with the exception of a large teddybear laying on the bed. http://www.zerochan.net/1581046

Mittens also finds Bridget's diary!

The cleric guides the mother to a chair, puts an arm around her and shushes her gently before discretely using a prayer that causes the mom to fall asleep.

The cleric then stands up.

"'No respect for peoples property or privacy,'" Mittens grumbles, reading the diary.

Emo looks over to Joe then looks at the bear.  "Should we stab it for good measure?  Oh right.  Patterns in the quilt.  Cleverly hidden occult symbols for a generations-long summoning spell.  Nice."

"Thank you for that, sorry for my lack of social graces." Cleric doing good cleric job.

He looks over to Emo, "Probably no on stabbing stuffed animals. At worst put it in a drawer." Which would it all the more obvious if it were evil compared to it just playing dead over violence.

The teddybear does not comment on or react to threats of violence.

The cleric gives Joe a polite bow and follows the heroes to see what they are doing in Bridget's room.

The diary goes back about a month, but stops the day before Mittens and Joe met Bridget. The days prior to meeting Joe or Mittens, Bridget records frustrations with her mother becoming more and more controlling while her father is growing more and more distant. Diary version of Bridget shows a very upset girl who wants her family back to normal, "whatever that means", to quote a phrase from the diary. And each day closer to when she met Mittens and Joe seems more tumultuous than the day before.

About a week prior to meeting Mittens and Joe, Bridget records:

"I have the book now. I'm going to learn from it and get good at quilting. My ancestors can rest easy knowing I'll be passing on the knowledge some day. I miss gramma. I remember looking at this book while sitting on her lap as if it were yesterday. Mom will see I'm not a disappointment. I know she just wants to protect me, but I'd rather be in danger and know where I stand than to be safe and forever wonder where my place is in this world. I hope mom can forgive me."

Emo hrms.  "Maybe not.  Where's the book?"

They both start searching for the quilting book.

The cleric looks confused as well.

The quilting book is found under Bridget's bed and appears to actually be just a book on quilting. Various quilting techniques added into the book over the course of generations. Fairly technical, if also having a chapter or two covered in girlishness.

The cleric assists Mittens. The two of them find nothing arcane or divine in the room, book, or the entire house. Aside from Aquarius, that is. She is currently both arcane and divine due to being a summoned entity of holy water.

The cleric nods in agreement with Joe. "The t-tower was the other place you w-wanted to go. R-right?"

A storm cloud of frustration forms over Mittens' head.

"Yes.  That's where I'm expecting evil face to be holing up.  I'm also expecting that at best, defeating it without any clue as to how to banish it permanently will be a waste of time.  Sure, it'd be nice that all it takes is beating up on our friend to be forever rid of the thing, but how likely is that?"

Emo shrugs. "In the absence of anything to go on here, there's little else we can do."

Joe nods, "Having to walk face first into danger and probably not finding out what you need until after the fact is hardly new, but no less frustrating." Particularly when shooting arrows into it's face (or closest approximation) is not quite so guilt free.

On the way to the tower, they can see a storm cloud billowing over the tower. When they arrive, the clown is no longer there.

The group makes it to the top to find a chanting Bridget with glowing red eyes. She grins over at the group. "You're too late!" Checklist time, Mittens! "I have already set my plan in motion and you fools will be the first to-ACK!!"

The cleric interrupted with a blast to Bridget's face. It was super effective.

Emo sprouts wings, draws a sword, and attacks!  "You're going down!"

Mits uses her Chuck Norris eyes to scan the room for advantages.  Magical cages, bag of evil spirit devouring, etc.

Finding an angelic catgirl is surprisingly difficult.  W/E  Obligatory badass angel pic here:   https://s-media-cache-ak0.pini...or-woman-warrior.jpg

(( Angelic Echelon.  16 damage, plus 5 (plus 5 from radiant vuln) on evil face's turn ))

Bridget does a backflip to uppercut Emo with her foot. BAMF! Emo is hit so hard, Mittens Prime feels it. Then looks at Joe. "What?! No! I am a demon of despair! Why do you ask?"

Aquarius shoots a stream of holy water at Bridget, getting her wet and hissing! The c-cleric tries to shoot a beam of holy light, but misses.

(OOC: Bridget takes 5 rad + 5 vuln dmg)
(Open the Gates of Battle. Hit(20)! Dmg: 26)
(Aquarius has simple 5 dmg if she hits, but counts as holy water, so vulnerability applies and makes it 10 dmg)
(C-cleric misses)

She slashes with her radiant sword!  "As for the demon, you're going to pay!"

Mits sweatdrops.  "Despair?  So you were able to enter Bridget simply because she's been having normal teenage emotions?"

She continues to search the room.

(( 14 damage total ))

Joe was in a hurry. Lemon tipped arrows are the same thing as holy arrows right? No? Either way, he actually hits this time.

OOC: Hits. 16+4 = 20 DMG total. Slowed (save ends).

Bridget oofs and glances around... "Mittens? Joe?" she gives Emo a weird look. "You look different."

She suddenly, dexterously, shifts over to Mittens Prime and throws a punch, but her fist slows and stops short of Mitts as Bridget grits her teeth. "I'm... trying... to stop it. You guys almost have him!"

Aquarius was going to shoot water, but eeps at the signs of Bridget actually being Bridget and misses.

The cleric has a similar reaction.

(OOC: Whiff session. Bridget, Aquarius and C-cleric all miss)

"Glad to see you're winning the fight with the evil spirit, Bridget!  Keep it up!" Mits cheers.

Emo explains, "Combat form.  We've noticed that hitting you with non-lethal attacks weakens the baddie.  So don't give into dispair that we attack, because this is totally for your own good!"

She switches her sword from a glowing radiance to a creepy ghostly thing and swings it through Bridget's head!  The attack causes the demon to see terrible things.  Such as people hugging!

(( Visions of Blood.  7 psychic damage.  -1 penalty to defenses till Mits' next turn. ))

It's time for a daily attack!  Joe has upgraded his citrus to grapefruit with a wedge cut out of it.  Oooh, right in the face! Just think about the vitamin content and not the burning sensation, Bridget.

Joe follows up this lunacy with his unexplained thematic capacity of NBA Jam leaping, landing with a clonk of two holy symbols tied together (Two goes means twice the odds it works, right?  It didn't work) before backstepping out of arm's reach.
