Mits grins at Joe's indicating his magical horn of provisions. "Mr. Foresight to the rescue!  I knew there was good reason to team up with you."

Mittens 2 begins counting on her fingers, "Well let's see.  Outside wise choices in magic items, there's: good humor, not afraid of nothin', highly skilled at killing badguys, good morals such as 'don't kill the villagers and take their stuff,' doesn't flirt with the ladies..."

She'll keep going unless stopped.

Given the latest payments, Joe should be able to retroactively afford said horn of plenty, yes.  Though saying goodbye to +2 shoot arrows damage is part of the temporal shopping paradox process.

"It's more that I'm very bad at flirting and you hate flirting, on that note." clarifications? maybe. Asking to stop? no.

"Quite nearly everything related to romance annoys me.  Explaining why is talking at length on a topic that annoys me.  Suffice to say, Not Flirting is a colossal virtue in my opinion.  Right up there with, 'Not Verbally Abusing Others.'"

Mittens 2 shrugs, takes out a small book entitled, "The Many Eccentricities of Mittens," opens it to the chapter titled, "Aversion To Romance," and offers it to Bridget.

Bridget slowly takes the book offered and just gives Mittens 1 a look like she just said feet are the most attractive thing in a person. "I'll keep that in mind."

Bridget then reads the book while traveling.

Mittens returns the look with an exaggerated grin.

This book is written in a much different style than the Record of Adventure! book.  It is much more casual, eclectic, exaggerated, and full of strong inconsistent or contradictory opinions.  But it probably makes sense to the author.  Or be funny to a child if she were to browse it.  Clearly, Mittens fully embodies the chaotic alignment properly.

Mittens 2 suggests, "If a rewarding relationship is what you seek, you might want to consider a different profession.  Story books are full of cautionary tales about loving someone in a dangerous profession such as this."

Bridget says, "...sorry, I can't help it. I guess this means Mittens is an open book!"

Even though she is genuinely joking and her smile shows she is enjoying the bad joke she just made, to stupidly high insight people, Bridget looks like she is hiding a deep annoyance.

Thankfully, the forest doesn't seem particularly hard to travel.

Mittens snorts a laugh for the joke.  And for Joe's assertion.

"Nice one!

"Mittens is quite accustomed to people being annoyed with her, so she thinks nothing of it.  But the politeness of hiding the annoyance is a courtesy rarely afforded her.  So she smiles to herself, choosing to allow herself to become more attached her new friend in spite of her earlier warnings about the inevitable heartbreak that follows being fond of an adventurer."

"Yup.  Open book.  Mostly.  Some attempts at courtesy might include withholding rude thoughts."

"Well I can't think of anything Bridget's done to annoy me, so there is that even if it doesn't help her any."  He expects to be contributing to at lLEAST 2/5 of Bridget's annoyance.

A low howl moans through the ruins briefly before fading. Bridget hugs herself.

The group is able to find a stairway that leads down underground. It is very dark down there. That may be fine for Joe, but not so much for Mitts and Bridget. Breaking out a torch or light stick is called for.

Minus holes in the ceiling and thus, minus the lighting in the pic, it looks like so:

Mits' fur stands on end when she hears the howl.  She's grinning, sure, but that was creepy.  "Loving this place!  Adventure sense go!"

She tries to triangulate to pinpoint the adventure like she did with the indescribable beast.

Mits 2 makes herself look like a...  "Should I go with a cleric look?  A friendly ghost look?  Or maybe necromancer look?"

"I would go with the cleric, as it would not be seen as competition for spooky cave necromancers or monsters."

Joe puts his trivia skills to the test wondering if this howling is distinct.

OOC: Spur of the moment nature check on RPOL, 27 total. 32 total that also works for magic monsters with this silly feat that also comes with free dowsing ritual casting. wait nature = arcane is a different lame feat for fey monsters only.

Bridget nods. "Cleric works..."

The howling is a combination of natural wind funneling through the ruins... and something mystical. Joe definitely knows it is not a living creature making the sound.

Mittens' adventure sense seems to confirm that the ruins are the place. By circling around the area, her senses keep pointing to a central room.

Distant music can be heard coming from inside that central room, but there doesn't seem to be an obvious way in.

Mits is pointing at a wall.

Mits 2 makes herself look all cleric-ish.  "If I were to guess, only way in is from above.  Or perhaps below."

She tries knocking on the wall anyhow.

Considering the vertical distances likely to be involved, Joe is glad feats being lore fail means his player is going to let him use acrobatics in place of upper body strength for climbing.

That and 'You always know north' wild talent, with the often useless bonus to finding your way around checks that only applies to 'natural terrain'.

"Well, it's probably not a ghost of some kind or it would have just come through the walls."

A knock can be heard in response to Mittens' knock. The knock imitated Mittens' knock and comes from the very spot she knocked.

Bridget says, "Maybe there is some secret latch or something?"

No *obvious* way in... Joe and Mittens are able to figure out that the carvings have a pattern consistent with each other and it leads them to figure out to turn certain statuettes in certain directions. (Just moving along for expedience sake)

A doorway opens to the central area and just behind it is a boy who is dressed up very unusually for a boy.
